      Why did use use add columns instead of creating measures? Is there something you wouldn't be able to do if you used measures?

      I completely agree. While other courses are good too, many tend to focus more on the specific functionalities. The way Mynda steps you through the analysis and how each function applies to it makes the video easy to follow and the tool's capabilities easier to understand.

    @28:54 for those trying to create Postcode, Suburb, Country column and the map isnt still behaving, you can use: Postcode, Suburb, Country = Regions[Postcode]&", " &Regions[Suburb]&", "&Regions[State]&", Australia" instead of: Postcode, Subrub, Country = Regions[Postcode]&", "&Regions[Suburb]&", Australia" . It takes care of the earlier error encountered in making the previous dashboard. Hope this helps.

I am blown away by the power, the immediacy and the dynamicity of these visualizations of complex data. 1. you need a work email. If you don't have one you can sign up for a Microsoft 365 trial which comes with an email address you can use for the sole purpose of creating your account. You can let the trial expire and you will still have your Power BI account.
      2. Yes, but you need to install the personal gateway. I cover this in my Power BI course: www.myonlinetraininghub.com/power-bi-course

    Hi Mynda, when you were concatenating State with country in Data section to rectify the map visualisation , is the same as using tranform data option? I am confused whether transforming data in power query is same as editing/creating measures in Data section below the report section in Power BI

    • @MyOnlineTrainingHub
      @MyOnlineTrainingHub  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Nayan, You can concatenate the columns in Power Query or in the Power Pivot modelling side of Power BI. However, transforming data in Power Query is not the same as editing/creating measures simply because you can't create measures in Power Query. Think of Power Query as the data preparation phase and Power Pivot as the modelling and measures phase.

      Well, it's a vast topic, but simply put, a relationship is made between two fields that contain the same data, preferably one side/table having only one instance of the value (the dim table) and the other side/table having many instances (the fact table). Great videos. When should I use powerbi, and when should I use powerquery/ powerpivot/excel for visuals?

    • @MyOnlineTrainingHub
      @MyOnlineTrainingHub  5 років тому

      Thanks, Yaakov! Power BI has Power Query and Power Pivot built in. You use Power Query to get and clean your data. Use Power Pivot to model it; create relationships between the tables and write custom DAX measures, then report on the data in Power BI visuals.

    hye, what if we dont know what is the suitable chart to use? does power bi can easily recognize which chart is the best?

    • @MyOnlineTrainingHub
      @MyOnlineTrainingHub  4 роки тому

      No, Power BI won't suggest a chart for you. Excel will though through their 'Suggested Charts' tool, so you could always take an extract of your data and try it in Excel first ;-)

    i want ask whether we we have manaully make dim tables and what should be the criteria

    • @MyOnlineTrainingHub
      @MyOnlineTrainingHub  3 роки тому

      The dim tables can be created automatically (to a degree) with Power Query i.e. based on fact tables in your model. This article explains the importance of star schema and should address your question: docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/guidance/star-schema

    Did you use SQL to organise the tables from raw data? Have you got a video for that please? Excellent work.

    • @MyOnlineTrainingHub

      No, I didn't use SQL. I used Power Query to get the data from the files, as shown in the video.

    Hi Mynda is there something extra in POWER BI that u can do which is not possible in excel in case you are using Power query, power pivot and pivot charts and tables in excel. Is Power Bi useful because of large data handling capabilities than excel is this the only advantage in Power Bi

    • @MyOnlineTrainingHub
      @MyOnlineTrainingHub  4 роки тому

      Hi Sunil, there's loads extra Power BI can do that Excel can't, but handling big data isn't one of them because both tools use Power Pivot to store the data. You can see a pros and cons comparison of Excel vs Power BI on my course page (link below) under the FAQs number 2: www.myonlinetraininghub.com/power-bi-course

    Hi Thank you very much for explaining so nicely. I loved doing along with the video. I got a problem though. I had data for the states of India. on the map the locations are ambiguous. I used your tip too. Still only one state is being shown in America. How do i fix it?
