    This video is shown installing the sear pin in the wrong orientation at 28:27. The notch is intended to retain the spring. If the pin is installed incorrectly as shown, the gun can at first appear to function, but after firing the sear may become misaligned with the hammer and fail to operate.

    Thank you very much bro! Saved me actual money and you earned a sub. It was the smallest mistake but I dont think I wouldve figured it out. The damn spring on the trigger unwound and caught itself in a way that did not seem out of place. Went over that spot over and over. Then I saw you wind it back around.

    Great video! just removed the magazine disconnect/spring/pin out of my LCP II .22lr. Functions fine without it! Really wish they just left it out. Now to try removing the safety...not sure if I can, but I'm going to try lol.

      I really wish there was a video on disassembly of the 22lr version. It has a couple extra parts and I've never seen videos or pictures of where they go and how they work. It's just hard to believe there's so little information on them regardless of how popular they are.

    • @pyrogun1839

      @@deucedeuce1572 This pistol was pretty simple to disassemble. If you are worried, just take good photos along the way so you can remember how to reassemble it. It's the best way to understand how it works.

    • @deucedeuce1572
      @deucedeuce1572 8 місяців тому

      @@pyrogun1839 That's good to know. I know the .380's are simple and the 22lr only has a couple extra parts. Might sound weird... but I actually do my best to never buy a firearm unless I know precisely how each and every single part functions and to know all the possible issues and fixes for those issues (and how to assemble, disassemble, clean, lubricate and maintain it). Might seem like a pain in the ass, but I actually know how many 100's of firearms work... and when I don't, I can almost always find all the information I need on them. It's actually pretty rare that I don't know how a gun functions and can't find the information online.
      In this case it would probably be easy to just buy one when I'm able to and then learn how it works when I get it, but I try not to do that. I normally don't have to anyways, but I just think there's no reason information would be impossible to get for any modern firearm in production. At the very least, the companies that make them should be responsible for making that information available. It should be a safety requirement, so people know how to take care of their own firearms and have the ability to verify that they're in safe, working condition. (Forgive the rant).

    Thank-you for this. All I can say is that last/3rd pin on the frame and is a PITA to get the sear and spring back in. I HIGHLY recommend not removing it! The rest is pretty easy. Interesting gun!

  • @deucedeuce1572

    There's a small hole on the right side of the frame that you can put a punch in to hold the sear forward while you install the chassis into the grip module. You push the sear forward and put in the punch (or pin) to hold the sear forward, then just put the chassis back into the frame and then remove the punch and it's a little bit easier. I think I used a toothpick one time, because I didn't have a small enough punch and it worked just fine.

  • @barjohn007

    I think I have solved the problem. The pin that holds the sear needs the notched area to the left. I removed the pin using a punch, slowly so everything was still capture and the push became the pin. Then I reversed the pin such that the notched side of the pin would wind up on the left side of the pistol when seen from the rear. I used the pin to force out the punch and then retouched the hammer spring and put the line back on along with an empty magazine. I test fired and it fired the hammer correctly. I repeated several times and it continued to function. Then I took it to the range and fired through a bit over 100 rounds of CCI Mini Mags and Federal Target. I had one failure to feed with the federal target and no failures with the CCI MiniMags. The trigger functioned properly every time.
    Until I get 300-500 rounds through the gun I won't have absolute confidence but this was a big step in the right direction. Let me know if you think anything else could have caused the issue. Thank you for your video. I could see that the sear was not sitting parallel to the hammer where they meet which is what lead me to think that having the notched part of the pin in the wrong side was allowing the sear to cock on it seat just enough to keep it from traveling far enough to release the hammer. I hope this information helps someone else that might make the same mistake. By the way my method of using a large pair of tweezers to hold the spring mounted to the sear and then using a punch as a substitute pin was a lot easier than using a slave pin. Once I tried that it took me 5-10 minutes after fighting for hours to do what the Gun Bench made look relatively easy.

I have a problem with my .380 LCP II ... and thought I would pose the question here ... the gun spits out the magazine while shooting, not every shot but at least once per magazine. I have installed a heavier mag release spring, so it's not that ... but for the life of me, I cannot figure out what is causing that to happen. Anybody have any ideas???

    I'm not sure if the serial number plate thing is necessary for stabilizing the chassis in the frame... but it's kind of a pain in the ass to have to deal with. I constantly see damaged grip mods and scratched up frames from people trying to take them apart to clean them. It makes sense for them to make them like that for a couple ways... but at the same time, I wish they came up with something better. (or easier for disassembly).

    Great video!! I probably watch this video at least 10 times! I own and lcp max which looks like it has basic layout as the lcp 2. I have a question that I need your expertise and experience to answer if you kindly don't mind. Is the engineering and construction of the sear, hammer and pins that hold it together strong that i wouldn't have to worry about having some mechanical failure such as sear cracking or chipping? I feel kind of uneasy being that sear is under full tension of the hammer. I know its has a hammer catch. I was just wondering if you feel that the sear is strong enough to catch the hammer. Also, is the hammer and sear engagement strong? Do you see any way the sear getting chipped or breaking from the constant pressure of the hammer? I definitely would love your advice.

  • @barjohn007
    @barjohn007 4 роки тому

    I made the mistake of knocking out the pin that holds the sear and sear spring. After watching your video, making a short pin like yours and many hours of fighting it I finally found a way using tweezers to hold the spring to the sear while I used a punch to feed onto the sear and through the spring into the opposite hole and then used the pin to drive our the punch; however, since then, after reassembly, and testing the firing and safety, after firing two rounds the trigger would not cause the sear to release. I took it to the store where I purchased it and had their guns smith look at it and after a few hours of him trying, it suddenly started working correctly. I then took it to the range where I fired about 50 rounds when it happened again. What can possibly be wrong? Does it matter which side the notch in the retaining pin is located? If so what should the orientation be? With the slide removed and disabling the magazine lock I can see the trigger is trying to move the sear to release the firing hammer but it doesn't release. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
