- This is one interview in a two-part series where I talk with both Jimmy Dore & Cornel West about their discussion. In both interviews, I allowed them to air out their grievances while trying to provide a little perspective to give them a better understanding of where the other was coming from. I hope that people, including the parties involved, will watch these videos and understand that although there will be disagreements, our goals will remain the same. Both Jimmy Dore and Dr. West have valid perspectives that we should all be willing to discuss in wrestle with in a healthy way of any class-driven, labor-driven, people-driven movement is to not only survive but thrive.

Hi guys, conservative here. Just wanted to let you all know that I would have never in a million years thought I would support any left wing policies, until I started listening to Jimmy Dore in 2016. Just kind of a testament to how he’s right about messaging in order to organize along class lines. I’ve even found myself being less pro cop and more sympathetic to anti cop talking points. I’ve started to believe in Medicare for all, and believe both the democrats and republicans are equally terrible. Also, I listen to Sabby all the time and RBN. Who would have thought from a conservative. Lol

We can't just oppose jailing political opponents when it happens to people we agree with.

The thing is, any socialist alternative candidate has to overperform just to get on the ballot and be taken seriously, and especially to get that 5% threshold for statutory election funding in the future. Which actually is somewhere well above 5% given the rigging of election results which happens, like the way that crucial percentage points suddenly disappear in between the exit polls and the 2nd hour of the count. Dr. West cant afford to throw away any possible support whatever. He has ro rally absolutely everyone possible. There can't be any putting down of allies and haste to mark off ideological conflicts with someone like Mr. Dore. It's absolutely wrongheaded.
Jimmy Dore"s racism is obvious for me. And it's not just how he treated differently Cornel and RFK jr despite the fact that RFK is an avowed lackey of the Israeli lobby. I first noticed that racism with Obama. Jimmy keeps depicting Obama as the worst president ever. And everytime he does so I send a ten points comparison between Obama and Trump to show that Jimmy is lying. It is systematically censored.

I can't see how West is for real. Jimmy makes tons of solid points. I know we all wanted West to be real, but I had serious Bernie vibes from him. I thought it was because I was fooled by Bernie, like a reaction, but maybe I was just recognizing a pattern.

Thank you for this video, Niko! I am sympathetic with Jimmy in terms of the unfair sh*tstorm unleashed upon him after his interview with Dr. West, and I hope Dr. West is learning something positive from that experience. Maybe Jimmy and Cornel need to go someplace where nobody knows either of them and have some beers and share a pizza. They need to have the heart-to-heart discussion that brings them to a mutual understanding that they are BOTH ON THE SAME SIDE!
That would be great, but my sense is that Dr West is not on the right side, knows what he's saying, and is afraid to "go there". And he simply doesn't have the experience for other important presidential roles like Commander in Chief, or overseeing a large government bureaucracy, etc. My vote goes to RFK Jr, especially if he runs as an independent after all this DNC nonsense. Dr. West should have made Niko House his campaign manager. Getting Niko more leadership experience is good for our working-class movement. He can speak working-class and PMC. We need to create and build up our own leaders and this campaign would have been a great opportunity for that goal.
Dore is 100% correct, he was trying to help West, and West ended up proving that he has no clue how politics works.
I still think he is a good person who has the best of intentions, but his choice to have peter Daou run his campaign is astronomically bad. Anyone who thinks it's unfair to question that decision is just plain ignorant. He's also right about identity politics, which is a divisive issue among potential voters.
It's all about messaging, and Dore is simply pointing out that he should lead with a message that unites people of all backgrounds, rather than using identity politics.
I'm very confused and upset about the Daou hiring. WTF?

Great conversation, Niko, and I subscribed today. We need your peacemaking, movement-building skills. We all have blind spots because we are human beings, regardless what I identity we have. And no racial group has all the answers. I am a Jimmy Dore fan and I often agree with him. However, I can now see that sometimes he is too hot-tempered and has a hard time allowing others to speak. It seems that both men got their egos triggered during that interview. It's true that Cornel West needs to work on his messaging if he wants to build a stronger movement--let alone a presidential campaign. And so does Jimmy have to work on his messaging, even if his instincts are basically right. But let us all learn from it. Building a strong movement was never meant to be easy, but it is possible.

First time on you show. I like your nuanced, balanced approach and vibe. People can say what they want of JD. I have watched him a lot, he is passionate and when he gets going it quickly becomes a storm category 5, but it is never in bad faith at least I never felt it like that. He has a bias for Dr. West and RFKJr , for different reasons, but still he exposed their weaknesses. Against both he was tough and pushed facts to their face to enlight their flaws, where do you see that happen, most podcasts are too nice to the presidential candidates. JD dares punching them where it hurts despite liking them. Great respect to him.

Even if Dore had a small effect on Cornel, Cornel goes ahead and hires the worst possible campaign manager. He's sinking his own campaign and credibility at record speed. It's impossible to turn around and undo the damage.

I can see both points. My biggest issue with the entire Biden thing is that it doesn't help West by saying Biden is better than Trump or lesser of evils, etc, etc.
There is only one question in every interview that Cornel West should be answering and that is "why should you be president?". Every word he says should lead back to that question.
By saying Biden is "better", he is making a case for Biden and not making a case for himself. It's the same thing Bernie did. Bernie kept calling Biden is good friend and Biden didn't refer to Bernie one time as his friend. Biden made it clear that he was nothing like Bernie. I have my own criticisms of Dore, but it's valuable to have someone challenge even allies
The system construct is dominated by white supremacy. This means that for black people it is ALWAYS about being black first....not 2nd. We didn't choose that. Any black person that thinks it's any different is lying to themselves. You cannot nuance white supremacy. The FBA experience in this country is indeed the most unique one. Because of this our political needs should be adjusted accordingly. In stead anytime black people want to do something just for themselves people get mad. Most of the time the people that get mad have not had our unique experience. They have benefited from the white supremacist system somehow. It's not our job to make sure white people don't feel left out. Their privilege is the biggest form of affirmative action hands down. The lift all boats strategy does not work for black people, were always end up where we were. So Jimmy Dore just came on here to make sure someone black agrees with him so he doesn't look racist. Yes it's true that there is no lesser or two evils between Joe Biden and Donald Trump. As a black American all I see are two racists. Jimmy Dore doesn't agree with reparations because white people won't be include. White people don't need to be included. White people are not disproportionately effected by this system, we always are. At every level that's why there has to be something separate to make the playing field fair.

I don't see him as a MAGA apologist or having anything against the LBQT community. I think that he's focused on achieving goals that benefit the majority of the population (regardless of what their identity may be) that he considers hyperfocusing on any small section of society a distraction from the bigger goal. That's why the corporate media and the duopoly spend so much time covering these issues, to distract their audience from taking a broader view on how the government is failing at their appointed jobs. We have to focus on solving the bigger problems if we ever hope to arrive at a better standard of life for everyone. Personally, I don't think that any politician is the solution. I believe that we should run things by a popular consensus instead of letting corrupt bureaucrats run things. Just look at the track record of the bureaucracy over just the last half of a century, it's atrocious...smh

This made my day on so many levels and I sincerely hope Cornell watches this. My harsh reactions to Cornell that he stayed silent on the fcking wholesale of basic liberties and rights with lockdowns, vaxx mandates, silencing and punishing dissenters etc etc and the recent Dauo hire is that I fucking loved the guy. No one but NO one can hurt you as bad as someone who lives in your heart, which is also why at this point I have little but hatred for Bernie. I think if Dr West sees this interview, he'll see that dynamic cuz it was plain as day in Jimmy throughout this discussion and certainly in certain segments of it. I reckon that might also be why Dr West reacted as strongly ss he did, that he know and respect Jimmy as a courageous speaker of truth to power, even when doing so comes at a cost and risk.
Regardless Dr West has to be made to understand the full scale of what went down during Covid (and might start up again soon), because no matter if you trusted Fauci and pharma enough to roll up your sleeves or not, it ought to have horrified everybody (at least in hindsight) with the demonization of the "anti-vaxxers", the calls from high places and "news" media for everything from excluding us from society, our incomes, putting us in concentration camps (like they did in Australia) or even put to death, for refusing a shot everybody now knows didn't stop the spread. And Chump Chomsky (who wanted us to starve to death) should be forced to read his own book "Manufacturing Consent" until he connects the dots and realize how fucking Nazi his sentiments and statements were.
I cannot and will not get behind ANYone who downplays what went down and the sinister and scary precedences that were set, but nor will I get behind someone like RFK and sacrifice the likes of the Palestinians while perpetuating the capitalist system and status quo, thus also sacrificing workers, the poor etc etc.

I love professor West but I think Jimmy understands the working class better and knows how to talk about politics with them more effectively.
People on the left have to understand that the middle and working class speak a different language than each other and have a different understanding of the world to a certain extent.
Cornel is right on the issues. He just has to be more careful about using words that the working class and poor don't understand and are likely to misinterpret. This can be hard for an intellectual accustomed to talking to other middle class intellectuals to do sometimes. I think that is the main thing Jimmy was getting at in his criticism.
Mao wrote well on this topic. You have to know the masses and speak to their interests in a way they understand to grow the movement. That is the most important thing for the left to understand and master. You can't accomplish else anything without doing that first.

Dr. West is very weak in that area, so what blew me away was just how blind he was to this fact that he couldn't even acknowledge it and accept the help offered.
People are talking about Jimmy's tone but it's not the reason for Dr. West's resistance at all. The guys at RBN also told him the same thing and he was equally resistant. 😢

I listened to the Dr West interview by Dore. I’d already saw it was contentious and also say a teaser snippet. But when it first started, and Dore was something like ‘I’m gonna act as a coach.’ I was like whaaaat?? I was thinking I woulda been like ‘Coach?? Who the hell you think you are?’ But more into the interview, I was SOOO disappointed in Dr West, I kinda forgot how it started.
Back in the 90s and early 2000s, I really admired Dr West. But the last several years, instead of coming across as a leader and as an intellectual, it seems like he just parrots and prioritizes the the latest crap the newest Ivy League white liberal girls are crying about. It doesn’t seem legit. It’s like he’s more like a spokesperson for the latest grievance.

Left/right has become meaningless in today's political landscape. I've been anti war before anything else my whole life, and that had me very far left for most of it. Nowadays the only politicians taking a firm anti war stance on a national level, for whatever reason, are on the right. Most of the activists who i marched against war with under Bush, 99% went silent under Obomber. And then lost their minds under Trump, who was the least murderous president in my lifetime. People care more about what cult they're in than their core values, and then call those of us whose core values don't change with political party names. I think it's mainly laziness and complacency- they don't want to consider that just voting for the "correct" party every 2-4 years isn't enough to make them a good person.
I will say as someone who like Jimmy Dore, likes RFK Jr (other than his support for zionism) that yes I definitely percieved what you are talking about in the difference between the way Jimmy talked to West and the way he talked to RFK Jr. and I was slightly appalled and If I percieved it and felt that way, then of course West would perceive it and feel it. Even if I agree 100% with his points (as I do) I agree Jimmy could be more senstive in his approach to talking about these issues. Having just watched the interview you did with West, it's easy to see how you got a completely different response from him to many of the same points Jimmy made just because of the totally different tone of the conversation. It's too bad and I think there is a failure to listen and respect each other fully on both sides (and there really shouldn't be 'sides' here). But I would say it's on Jimmy to be a little more sensitive about these issues which are so central to Dr. West's being and I think the way Jimmy was going about it probably felt very invalidating to Dr. West's whole core mission whihc is a part of who he is. I really feel like a slight adjustment to his approach with more sensitivity could have gone a long way... I think white people DO have somewhat of a duty to try to go the exstra mile to have empathy for the struggle of black people, but also I think black people could do well to undertnd how this "white supreamacy" has been weaponized aginast average ordingary people who themselves are being oppressed and how it might become a flashpoint for some when someone sounds like they are contributing to that.
Ultimately I hope we can just move forward and not let this be too much of a stumbling block, but it's a tall order because it's an issue that runs so deep.

I keep thinking back to the debate between Bernie and JCJoe, and hearing Bernie literally say "yes i think Joe can beat Trump" ... literally screaming at the TV "if you just call him out you will instantly win!" but no urgency, no sense of life or death. West has given me the same feeling. Tip toes won't win anything at this point.
