Needless to say, I have nothing much else to, well, say since this review is so comprehensive it's like Blunova & Monstrosities' Shin Ultraman videos put together in one giant compilation movie (it's a compliment btw). Such a great video, thank you! Seeing Shin Ultraman in theaters was my first exposure to Ultraman at all. I'm a long time Sentai and new Kamen Rider fan so I wanted to dip my toe into the the remaining member of the big three. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and this gave me a lot of great insight into things I don't know being outside of the fandom.
On the topic of soundtracks, An Out of Body State was one of the biggest surprises. Hearing it in one of the earlier Trailers for the film vs hearing it in full during the Mephilas fight was such a beautiful twist. Love the electric guitar popping off with the action.
I didn’t even know that there was a Shin Ultraman before a random edit of the fight popped up in my fyp, and I fell into this rabbit hole. There is something to said about the way ultraman fights with some movements that are the relic of past times that requires the actors to make slightly goofy movements and poses, but when it is mixed in with realistic cinematography it gave it a alien-like movement that are truly foreign beyond to this world.
God, this video was beautiful. I’m honestly surprised more people haven’t watched it, because this is such an insightful look into the movie, both in front of & behind the scenes.

I was wondering why Ultraman seems so separate from other Tokusatsu. This series uses crossovers sparingly while Kamen Rider and Super Sentai do it every year.
From Ultraman Mebius going forward, Ultraman shows & movies actually have a lot of cross-overs. But their universe(s) are just more cleanly-managed than something like KR Decade, KR Zi-O & all the Versus Movies. Also, Ultraman feels more separate than KR & Sentai coz the heroes are mostly giant-aliens (without summoning any mechas).
@@androyus Actually if you look in the Showa versions, they were all part of the same world, so it wasn't so much cross-over as it was passing the torch (kinda like what happened with Power Rangers up until Lost Galaxy). They only diverged after the 15-year hiatus with Tiga. By Ultraman Mebius, it was made canon that due to the Ultraman race being beings-of-light, they have the ability to cross into dimensions. This is why Earth changes so much, it's literally the Ultramen fighting through dimensions.
Kamen Rider and Sentai are owned by Toei so they get to have crossovers every year. While Ultraman is owned by obviously Tsuburaya. It's difficult to get Ultraman to have a crossover beyond Tsuburaya-affiliated properties because of that but honestly, I prefer it that way.
I love the movie when it first shows it's trailer then when it's officially launch global ,after watching it, it was a nostalgia yet brings a more meaningful content for people like how when monsters appear they fought and win then another more stronger monster and then technology which can destroy life and earth is completely hopeless yet Ultraman shows that in the end just never give up even the odds against is him ,he knows can't defeat zetton and could end up dying but he still believes he can find a way because the sssp supported him and he still proves that zoffy was wrong in erasing earth , it was like he was telling us there is always a way that's I why I appreciated and love the movie
Absolutely loved what these two did with this movie, along with Shin Godzilla. Was the perfect time too as I had just finished watching the original series at the time. Seriously can't wait to watch Shin Kamen Rider. My only problem with the film is that it ended way to abruptly. Does anybody else agree?
I've been realizing that I'm okay with the Ultraman series, but I LOVE the Ultra Galaxy Fight spinoff so much more because the Ultramen and women are the characters, not the humans they bond with.
@@nisrntje3240 nothing wrong with humans, its just nice to watch the ultras as their own. For example ultraman Z, his personality is sparingly used in his own series in order to focus on the cast like haruki and juggler. But in ultra galaxy fight we can witness Z’s full character and have more time to focus on it.
@Nisr Ntje I usually find the humans boring (except for a few shows) because the ultramen and women are treated like weapons for humans when they are living creatures with a purpose and drive that isn't explored.
I recently did a review for this on my channel and even though I love tokusatsu, I wasn’t very familiar Ultraman. I felt pretty lost and ended up giving the film a harsher rating. But this video was extremely informative and honestly was just the deep dive I was looking for!
