Can and will end horribly. They'll be at the end of the campaign so close to a happy ending when suddenly they have to roll initiative because fucking Gelidon never forgets.
And since they (Nott) stole from the dragon, who can and will remember each and every treasure and coin they have in their hoard and how they came about it, they are going to have problems in form of an ancient white dragon later down the line, it's going to be very very exciting XD
I knew that going into this episode. We have another Big bad!!! Tavaler con is gonna be a lot more fun with an Ancient White Dragon who is apparently a spurned bride.

People keep saying stuff about Matt changing an adult white dragon into an ancient because of the otters. It’s obviously a joke but with how many people keep saying it, I can’t tell if he actually said that or if people are just joking.

I mean... Matt was holding back. Of course he as a DM is not playing against the PC's but he couldve killed atleast Reini so easily by using his 3 attacks instead of the breath. Not to mention he didnt use any legendary actions...
@@janlucaschurmann488 Well of course, but he's not simply holding back, he's roleplaying. Every single thing the dragon did made sense and wasn't holding back in that context. They are playing a roleplaying game, not a hack and slash, min max, meta knowledge, combat game. Mercer plays what's best for the story and immersion, not the characters. They could have easily all died if they messed up but their plan was pretty tight and for once they didn't blow the plan.
@@janlucaschurmann488 I might have this wrong but by my understanding her double movement kept her out of range of the dragon's single movement so the dragon could only hit her because his breath had enough range after moving. I don't think you should generally use legendary actions in a chase scene in order to catch up to players. It's technically within the rules but it's also unrealistic and immersion breaking. Legendary actions make sense during a fight because it's happening inbetween players actions but using them in a chase is like giving the creature supernatural speed beyond what it would have if it weren't in combat.

Omg I have a possible theory regarding this.
Gelidon might come to the blooming grove, the Clay's home. It might take a while, but I could be a possible senario!
What adds just that little bit of hysteria to this is twofold. First, white dragons hate gifts or bribery. They consider them insulting, because they should just be strong enough to take anything of worth for themselves.
Two, 7 platinum, or 70 gold, is hilariously low as an "apology" bribe. Nott and Jester saw how impossibly vast Gelidon's hoard was. An ancient dragon of any color would be impossibly wealthy. It's the equivalent of dinging a limousine and then trying to charm your way out of trading insurance with the owner by passing them 5 or 10 bucks.
And yet he has a tribe of yetis hunting his meals for him, like a pizza delivery company for him and him alone
@@dracowolf3212 Kinda how Dragons work. Despite White dragons being physically the strongest and most durable, they often have little to no magic. Plus its kind of a " You feed me, or you will feed me. " Kinda deal with the Yeti's.
White dragons have an inferiority complex to other dragonkind so they enjoy bullying giants and younger dragons of other species, in this case it was yetis.

Well their days of traveling the countryside are going to get a lot more interesting. But yeah if it attacks Uthodurn or Rosahna (no idea on spellings) it’d get wrecked.

Well, i must admit, I've never fought a dragon in dnd, but holy hell did i truly believe this was their asses on a frozen mount in his horde.
Ancient white dragons are... .... Almost Apocalyptic.
Yeah any category of ancient dragon are at or over CR 20. Whites are the weakest of the chromatic dragons but still very much capable of wrecking the Mighty Nein
I love these people, my favorite part of this episode was ice spider queen flicking off the dragon and the group of Yetis going NOPE and leaving.
Absolutely had me rolling.

I love these, because they help me notice things I didn't notice live. For instance, I didn't notice Taliesin's hand shaking, and I didn't notice Sam saying "Oh yeah!" when Jester pulls out the Traveler figurine.
Taliesins hands are always shaking, im not sure what it's called but his hands are always shaking.

He definitely has tremors when he gets excited, though they seemed significantly less pronounced on talks machine so it’s possible it is a combination of a medical condition and the adrenaline.

I think it’s this scene that cemented that I wanted to be a voice actor. That’s genuine pure terror on their faces as they are so enthralled in this story they’re feeling real fear. Tal just trembling, it’s amazing.

This episode made it clear to me how important Caleb and Fjord are to keeping the M9 from dying. Nott, Jester, Beau, and Reani came up with literally the most reckless plan of the campaign because Liam wasn't here and Fjord was powerless and on the ground. Sam especially is an agent of untold chaos when he's playing drunk Nott lol.
Yeah but their plan went almost perfect!
They got SUPER lucky- first off they managed to pass a stealth check JUST BARELY against the white dragons massive TWENTY-THREE passive perception. Then.... even crazier... They made it 210 feet after a white dragon knew about them. If Matt had rolled literally a couple of points higher on ANY of the breath attacks Beau and Reani would be dead. Was fairly safe for Nott and Jester after they passed the stealth thanks to dimension door (one of my fav spells). Ironically they actually had about 30 seconds more that they could’ve looted while Caleb drew the circle, but, they couldn’t have known that. And after the dragon breathed ice on the hut they might not‘ve even been able to get in. REALLY liked this encounter and it set up a great new baddie!
It was definitely one of the riskiest plans in either campaign.

@@JB-xl2jc I wouldn't say they got that lucky with the stealth check since they had Pass Without a Trace, but with the breath attacks definitely. Though they could have avoided that risk if they'd flown down the chasm before setting off the bombs.

On an upside, this could be a way to team back up with Reani. Because as it stands now, she's on her own. Say Giladon found her scent in that town and froze it solid while she was away?

I just wander when over reliance on Tiny hut will come to bite them, either by something digging under it or dispelling it at the worst possible moment

The minute they bamfd out by the skin of their teeth that night, I just visualized Gelidon picking up the 7 tiny platinum pieces with his gargantuan ancient claws.
Edit: you just know Matt wouldn’t say “Dragons are weird” if he didn’t have a plan to implement Gelidon as the hunter that a white dragon let alone an ANCIENT WHITE FRICKEN DRAGON is.
Now the MIX have to implement a queue ticket dispenser for the OP enemies they are seeding around the world: the Laughing Hand, Uk'Otoa, now an Insulted Ancient Dragon... All likely behind their heels... Just wait to see the Bright Qeen receiving a report that the northern border is under attack by a Large Ancient Very Pissed White Dragon, who seems in the process of hunting someone...

@@johnneisser9963 Concerning the elements that Gelidon (INT 23) has in its claws to track down the smugglers: their scent, their appearence, and 9 platinum coins minted in the Dark Elven realm in the South... More than sufficient to start the hunt. Gelidon menaces to be a problem really fast, a matter of few weeks, or even few days.
Pierluigi Di Pietro actually he has an INT of 10 so don’t expect him to know a lot, plus the coins could be minted in the empire (as in episode 13 they did get platinum of a dark elf that was minted in the dawndalian empire) so they could be anyware with the teleportation, so don’t expect him returning unless he has a scrying ball and a lot of free time and a place to hide the treasure of his...
even though white dragons are very vengeful and even if he knows where they are, he probably won’t leave (his threat was probably because he didn’t know about the teleportation circle and guessed they will need to leave through running away, then he can and will find them but they left a cold trail)

I loved this. Every campaign, and I legitimately believe this, needs at least one moment of pure, pants-shitting terror like this to solidify the bonds of the party members.
