    I have both the moverio bt-300 and the dji goggles and love them both dearly for different purposes. On big bonus of having both is you can use them both at the same time so you and a friend could enjoy live immersive FPV together while exploring.
    The bt-35e looks a little more cumbersome to use in the field than the bt-300 since you don't need a phone/crystal sky with bt-300 !

      Vracan, I've taken my Kids Flying, using the Old P4, Mavic PRO and the White DJI Goggles on Head tracking Gimbal mode. They Love the freedom or control to look where they want and the Camera points there. I can't wait to play with my new Mavic Zoom too.
      Where the Epson Moverios shine is for camera, DJI GO4, superimposed, picture in picture with your normal line of Sight for the Pilot. It's great that we are Spoiled for choices with Goggles, Glasses, display tablets and Drone models.
      These types of reviews are great to showcase new Technologies and the options available for those with the $$$$.

    Excellent review! Epson should be very happy with this review.
    Tell them to send a production one for a give-away contest ;-)
    2 great points of your video that sold me on them:
    A - having non-tech ppl try them out - great reactions.
    B - Showing us the image we would see AND seeing everything else. Stunning.
    $900 US dollars is steep - but never having to take goggles off to address ppl - PRICELESS!
    Good job, Captain!

    Hi, I haven't been able to directly connect my BT-35e glasses to the Autel EVO ll Pro controller. I spent hours trying. However, I now have two different methods that work. The first is the obvious use of Live Deck that I have connected to the 2200nits Feelworld FW279 7" monitor that has an HDMI output. The second method is to use iPad Mini 5 Screen mirroring (or Android Miracast) to wirelessly go to a $20 AnyCast device. Initial setup is a PITA, but once figured out the wireless connection to the glasses is solid.

    I tried the bt300. But found them uncomfortable to wear and I didn't like the contoller that set used. These look an improvement on the 300s. As just a viewing option without the control they use to have.

    Glad to see Tammi back on the channel. BTW #3... SkyZone HD Googles are smaller and can work with my Drones.The price of the BT-35E Glasses is more than the price of a good quality drone. Kinda pricey at $1200 for use with my drones.
    5:54.. At only 1000 feet distance your drone is virtually invisible....let alone at a few kilometers. If they were the price of DJI goggles then the BT-35E Glasses would be interesting to get.

      Very wise deduction... I'd get them as well. I bought DJI goggles that came with my Mavic Air, and they are great but at the cost of bulkiness and closed view.

      Agreed, we have the BT300 and I can't understand why these are actually more for less? You don't get the controller so where is the cost going? If these were $350 we would be all over them but at $900 that is way too much.

    I have the BT-300 glasses. Its the only way to fly. It is amazing flying the P4P. The glasses give you true first person view while flying. Plus, with the BT-300 glasses and the included android controller running DJIgo4 app, I get the full heads up display with all the flight parameters you would see on your Crystal Sky, iPad, or iPhone. Fantastic flying and highly recommended. It is expensive but well worth the investment.

    Thanks for the review. I can see they are slightly different to the BT-300. However, would you recommend one over the other?
    I’ve just received the BT-300 and find that they are very slow in downloading from the Moverio store. The controller also gets warm, even while just idling. Did you find this to be the case with your review sample?

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  6 років тому +2

      Omar, I don't recall any real issues with the BT-300, other than getting used to them. The main difference with the BT 35E is that these glasses don't require an APP to run, they can just plug into most devices that have an HDMI port or USB-C video port. Also the design of how they attach to your head is a big improvement because it keeps the glasses very still on your head so the image looks clear with no movement from the glasses.

    • @FindingFitra
      @FindingFitra 6 років тому

      CAPTAIN DRONE, thanks for coming back to me. I’ve arrange to exchange mine for a new set. When I spoke with Epson, they advised that they shouldn’t get warm, but it can get very warm just in use without charging.
      I was tempted to just return them and purchase the BT-35e, as I like the idea of not being restricted to the Android controller that comes with it. But I use an iPhone, and as far as I know, there’s no way to output HDMI while connected to the Mavic, unless I’m missing something. Do you know of any way to use the BT-35 with an iPhone and Mavic?
      Thanks

    I have been, in the past, a strong advocate of the Epson BT 300. Augmented reality is much better than virtual-reality for the drone pilot. The real issue became the extra set up time and more things to carry around. Most video photography is done in short simple shots. Each shot is within visual line of sight. Each shot can be run with a simple intelligent flight mode. Tapfly and Point of Interest satisfy most needs.
    So now I subscribe to the keep it simple, low-cost solution of using my iPhone.

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798

      I think it depends on what your needs are. The BT300 are designed to work with all DJI drones and the BT35E will work with any type of drone or computer or TV or whatever, as long as there is an HDMI output to plug into. You could always buy and try and if not happy return them. Check first to make sure you can return if not happy.

    I owned the Epson Moverio BT200 version. I elected to replace them with the larger, heavier DJI Goggles for one main reason: The Epson Moverio does not address Pupillary Distance Adjustment. Not being able to adjust the projection to effectively line up with each eyeball evenly, made for a poor experience. DJI obviously considered the fact that the distance between different individual's eyes might differ, and provided that adjustment to their system. I really wish that Epson would follow that example. This wonderful technology is worthless, if it's difficult to see what you're looking at - Good review though - Please keep up the great work!

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  6 років тому +1

      Miquael. I think they fixed that in the BT300 and onward by spreading the image wider. With my FATSHARK goggles, I do need to adjust the distance for my eyes, but with teh Moverio's I don't. I've let six other people try them and they all found that the image was great for them (all have different eye distance).

    We have the 300 and I hated them because of all the cables, setup time and they really were uncomfortable and hard to see through with my glasses on. I didn't want to spend the extra $200 for the prescription inserts so I gave them to my partner who doesn't need glasses. I also found them to be hard to see in bright sunlight even with the dark filter attached. These seem like a better fit as I can still use the screen when I want. The down side is you have to have the Crystal sky with HDMI out.

I use the DJI Smart Controller to fly the M2P and it was very easy to hook up these glasses to that Smart Controller and that worked great. On the DJI FPV I was not able to use the glasses. The review led me to believe that I could replace the DJI Goggles with these glasses but I do not see how that it is possible or I am missing something. I see no way to cable the DJI FPV controller to the glasses control box. Am I missing a required component? The review says you can leave the DJI Goggles at home and just use the glasses but I don't see how that is accomplished. Hi Steve,
    I'm not sure if you neglected to cover this or if I missed the information in your video. Please tell me how much latency there is in the video displayed in the BT-35E glasses. I know the DJI goggles have some amount to the tune of 270-400 milliseconds (1/4 to nearly 1/2 second delay). a method to calculate this is to set up a camera (probably your DJI Spark) set a stopwatch that displays hundredths or thousandths of a second increments in front of the camera and record the stopwatch at 60p or 120p, set another camera, Crystal Sky screen, and BT-35E screens all at the same frame at the same time, record those at the highest framerate possible (120, 480, 1000fps) I know standard FPV VGA video is down to near

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  6 років тому +2

      There should be zero latency. The reason is the glasses are just a display. They will just mirror the latency in the device you are using. So if you plug them into a Crystalsky, the latency will be what the Crystalsky is rated for.

    Hey Captain ! Use the BT300 since a view month! After aligning the Bt300 properly on the head, is the pic quality better / clearer / cleaner on the BT 35E ? Or is it the same?
    FYI
    In bright sun light I tested Cristalsky 7.85 1000nit , Galaxy Note 8, IPhone 7, they all give you bad reflections like a mirror so its difficult to see anything ! But the BT 300 is free of reflections when wearing a cap! The Pic is very contrasty! So the BT 300 won, even the resolution is only 1280x720 as it is also on the BT35E, but this is secondary !

    Great review, thanks. At 10.08 you note that the glasses camera needs an app and does not currently function for drone users (at the time you posted the video). Are you aware of any apps that would allow the use of the camera for a drone user? For example, on one job I had to fly the drone through a trail with vegetation on both sides and above to give the viewer a sense of walking the trail, no problem. But, I also wanted to record video for marketing purposes that showed the drone flying through tight spots. My current solution was to have another person use a GoPro to capture that video.

    These are cool, and I like that you're not depending on the Glasses to run the drone app (DJI Go or whatever), but this also means that the device you're running the drone app on needs to have an HDMI Out port. Most devices don't. I use an iPad Mini, so these wouldn't work with that. Or am I missing something?

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  6 років тому +1

      Paul, I think this will depend on DJI. You see DJI considers any drone that is under the Phantom, to be an entry level drone for people wanting to get into drones so they leave out advanced features and keep everything basic and simple. For 99% of us that is just fine. For the Phantom and above they add more advanced features to the controller like the ability to turn the drone GPS on or off, as well as numerous ports (one of them being HDMI). If DJI ever comes out with a more advanced controller for the Mavic series, then all will be well. There has been talk of an advanced controller with a built in display, but I'm not convinced DJI is bringing that to the market soon due to cost.

      You'd have to try them for yourself since everyone's eyes are different. These are not FATSHARK googles, in other words the corners are not what you think. No eye strain at all since it like wearing glasses and someone puts an image in front of your eyes that you can see through. Small text is easily viewable. Greetings Steve! Appreciate the video, although seemed a bit too on the bright side. I fell for the ads for the BT-300's and being nearsighted it was a real pain to get a clear view of the entire screen. I attribute that partly to the fact that these do not have adjustable inter-pupilary distance settings. It looks like the BT-35E does not either. And they had absolutely horrendous performance when placed over my existing eyeglasses. I had to purchase the Rochester prescription insets which gave me a clear center screen, but the outer edges were still blurry and sometimes double-vision. Please explain to me how they overcame these issues and I may drop the money for a pair. But otherwise it's just a waste on an upgrade that hasn't fixed past issues. This is a great idea, and I love the concept, but Epson just is blind to the need for adjust-ability to fit this to the hundreds of thousands of different heads and eyes that they are marketing to.

      Like all FPV style glasses on the market, they unfortunately won't work for the minority, but they will for the majority. This is why in this video I let people who were near sighted and far sighted try them out and tell me what they saw. I'm far sighted and the image is very clear. Also I fly FPV with FATSHARK googles, which have an adjustment for people with eyes far apart or close together. For the majority of people this works with the FATSHARKS, but there are the minority where this does not work. I don't work or have any association with EPSON so there is really nothing I can add. It is just a product that works for some and not so much for others.

    It appears these cannot work with an iPad and Mavic or Mavic 2, since the iPad has no video output to drive the moverios, correct? The Mavic controller allows for only one output from the RC to work to drive the display, so I see no way to use these with a Mavic of any type, if I need the iPad also to display the camera view. That's where the DJI goggles have the advantage, they work WIRELESSLY direct from the craft to the goggle, with no cable cables, plus you can have an iPad showing the same display in parallel, driven from the RC via USB. I think you forgot to mention that.

      CAPTAIN DRONE thank you for replying promptly. I will have to wait to fund them and maybe we will have more competition soon. Great video and thanks again! 🙏
