It's possible, the album that the track is named after was supposedly based on an incident in his life where his girlfriend left him to join a religious cult, and she was never heard from again, and he supposedly had nightmares after wards where she was drowning and crying out, so the song and the album have a lot of emotion behind them.
It is true and a Brutally Sad story. I remember when it all happened and I remember when this album came out of nowhere it seemed..
You really need to hear Warrel tell the story or go read it. Its heart breaking.. There is alot more to it as well.
When she called to say goodbye, that she and her new husband were leaving to join their new "religious" family. She was told they needed to call their loved ones and say goodbye.
Warrel and Jim were blown away , alarmed to say the least, terrified for her. Like hold on , wait a minute, what exactly are you saying?!... Ok well how about you take a step back and really think about this.. "Oh he said you would say that.." Who said I would say that?! "Our Holy Father, knew you you would say that"... ... Ok well, you are making a big statement here and a big decision, how about coming over or let's meet somewhere and just talk? ... "No, He said you would say that too, and he said you would try to get me to do that" "He predicted everything you are saying and going to say and do" "I'm just saying Goodbye, I will always Love You, but I am going to serve God and I have to cut all ties with all of my friends and Family " Ok, you are really scaring me now, Please come over or tell me where I can At least see you one more time, Please... Anywhere, Anytime, Now works even.. " No, he warned us you would try to trick me away from my path and you can't. " Woahh wait hold on ... You Know I Love You, You Know I would NEVER LIE TO YOU , I WOULD NEVER TRICK YOU, I WOULD NEVER DECEIVE YOU... you mean the world to us. All I'm asking is to see you one more time or maybe even come over and talk, you can stay as little a time or as long as you want. If I'm hearing what I think I'm hearing, you are making a big decision and honestly I'm pretty fucking alarmed here, I am actually feeling scared for you.. Have you talked to your parents ?... "Yes, they tried the same thing your doing but our Father prepared us for all the tricks and lies, all the deceitful things you will say to steer us off our path, see he knows everything".. .. Ok this is just plain FUCKING nuts.... All we are asking is for you to spend a little time and really explain what's going on and we just want to make sure your safe and will be ok. Can you tell us where you are going? How we can reach you? When will be back? "No I cant tell you any of that, i have found my new family and am being called to God and we are going, hust be Happy for us, dont try and make us stray" You know I love you , you know we would never stand in your way and we always support you and have always been there for you good and bad, we're family... I'm gonna stop here.. it's not exact but it's pretty much how it went.. She was conditioned before the calls and everything said in concern was already out in her head as a trick to make her stray.. and make her "holy father" seem prophetic... It was one of the most painful stories he ever told me. They flew up and gave me the new CD and at first it was all fun and excitement.. Are you ready to get kicked in the head by the Heaviest FUCKING Song to bless your soon to be bloody ears ?! HAHA... Crank It Up !
It was Awesome.. we hit the highway and played the whole album... Then he reminded me of the story he was telling me last year.. and it all clicked... He told me again.. Warrel and Jim were both just torn up again , it's just FUCKING SAD AND SCARY some charismatic Bastard can come along and pray on people at just the right time and anythings possible... Last time I saw her was at Enzo's , The Heaviest Juke Box in Seattle... then it's this nightmare...
Later Police found her new husbands blood in a hotel room with all of his belongings and a few of hers, his blood was everywhere, and just a few traces of hers.. no bodies were found tho they did drag Lake Washington if I remember correctly..
Warrel has one of the biggest most compassionate Hearts of anyone I've ever known other than Jim... Geez actually Warrel, Jim, and Jeff are incredibly compassionate. In a picture some uptight politician would try and say don't they look evil? In truth , they can stand their ground but they don't have a hateful bone in their bodies and would do anything to help someone out.. Those Dreams came to Warrel, she was calling out to him and there was a connection... Dreaming Neon Black was a memorial to her and a warning to others as well as a way for Warrel to try to Heal and pour out his Soul with this story, his love for her and his grieving....
Now it's been along time and I'm tired. I know anything I typed falls far short in comparison and accuracy so go find the story.
Part of me wants to delete my post but I'm leaving it up because I do hope it sparks interest and a little understanding and awareness.. I hope they solve this one day...

i used to spend days listening to the whole album, but then i got locked on this song and the lotus eaters, and after that only on this song, and it still happens from time to time till this day :)

yeah, he played with them for a couple years i think. he never actually got the chance to record with them, but he did tour with them a lot from 2000-2003 and 2006-2007, then he got a call asking for him to join megadeth, and the rest is history (:

I'm pretty sure that it's about Warrel Dane's Ex-girlfriend, who joined a religious cult and he eventually loses her to the cult. now I'm not sure if the cult killed her or if he just never heard from her again, but I know for a fact it's about a girl who joins a cult, I've heard that from multiple sources. And yes, he does have reoccuring dreams of her drowning. Pretty dark theme which makes this album so damn interesting.
@cheesetoes the whole album is pretty much about his girl who kills herself. he keeps seeing her in dreams. then he offs himself. listen to the cd and really pay attention. Its fucking mindblowing

DVD doesn't clip. Sounds and looks 1000 times better than this crap. One live DVD I can recommend as a good investment.
