Nav's Showroom So true. I test drove one yesterday and was impressed, to say the least. It's quiet and solid as can be, and then it feels like a race car in the corners with that brilliant chassis and Quattro system. Plus the various buttons and switchgear put other cars to shame. I could go on and on, but it was one of the best test drives I've ever had.
Just bought this car... LOVE IT!! Stereo There is no low end in the one I have however that is an easy fix... Smooth, Quiet, Attractive, Powerful yet great on gas.
The 2017 A4 is the best compact luxury sports sedan on the road. Anybody who says the MB 300 series or BMW 3 series is better needs to do some research. Excellent review, by the way.
Read it and weep, fanboy. Out of 9 luxury sports sedans tested, the BMW 330i came out in seventh place! www.motortrend.com/cars/alfa-romeo/giulia/2017/alfa-romeo-giulia-bmw-330i-audi-a4-mercedes-benz-c300-cadillac-ats-jaguar-xe-lexus-is-200t-infiniti-q50-volvo-s60-comparison/
cameraz99 The only channel that is biased against BMW in every conparison so it must be true.... lmao and VW are know to bribe for emission test, good.reviews etc so don't believe the bs they say
best compact luxury sedan? possibly. most fun to drive? it doesn't seem to even be in the same conversation with the others. is likely why the A4 has yet to be featured in any of the hundreds of MT head 2 head or Ignition videos, or driven around a track by Randy Pobst
Looks amazing. The buttons between the user interface and cup holders seems like a bad idea to be right there where you place your drinks. But if that is the worst, big deal. I love the clean exterior lines.
The A4 is a cheeper more reliable option that is more suited to the everyday man. Cost of repairs are far cheeper than the S4 and the A4 scores a more reliable rating. Is the S4 faster? Yes, but it's a performance/sports car so, you know. But that doesn't mean A4 can't go fast. Stock it's a fast car clocking a 5.4 0-60. Besides, you can tune the absolute shit out of it with a 4.4 0-60 off the stage 1. So the engine is practically begging to be modified. Bottom line, the A4 if you are looking for a daily driver and long term reliability. S4 if you are all about that juice and are willing to pay for it. Personally, I went with the A4 for the mods.
Fantastic job on the review, probably the best review of this car I've seen. I was a little concerned about the interior rattle in your comments, but it's probably not that bad since your overall chassis rating was still 5 stars. Can't wait to see your review of the A5 Sportback when that becomes available, that's at the top of my short list for next car.
Great job on the Audi dude, I've always thought there kinda like a luxury subaru, both sweet rides but I'll take the Audi everytime, gonna look for the challenger vlog, your you tube is great man!
I just can,t get over the fact that the Audi A4 I got rid of 4 years ago was at the garage 11 times in 14 months. I will NEVER have faith in this company again. Switched to a GMC Terrain and have had absolutely no problems.
correct me if I'm wrong but from what I've read the manual gets the cheaper electronic version of the Quattro from the A3/VW's not the classic mechanical diff version. That means you basically have a FWD car until the wheels start to lose grip and the AWD kicks in. So on the one hand you get more fun and engagement on the other hand you give up a more balanced RWD-biased (60-40%) drive.
I love your videos! You're so professional and knowledgeable... The way it should be! I've been watching your videos for years, and I know I was subscribed to you, but it's saying I'm not... Maybe youtube unsubbed me? I've heard of that happening, and that's not cool if that's what it obviously is, because I didn't do it. Anyway, I'll subscribe again after this comment. Thanks for making all these great videos! Keep up the good work!! -Chris
Very solid review! I appreciate how you pointed out it's got room to improve. For instance, I'm always driving with a large bottle of water and it would not fit in this car.
Very nice looks, and it seems the ride is nice judging from your smiles. The interior though seems to have taken the wrong turn for the price of this car.
when I am putting the foot on the throttle, I don't hear that nice engine sound. Is there any specific settings to enable that sound ? I have the S Line package, and I was on dynamic mode
Yes, if you are looking for someone to read the brochure to you.....you're on the wrong channel. We do opinions and impressions here. We leave the mundane data to Consumer Reports thank you.
Is not about reading the brochure, but providing a complete review including the numbers so users won't need to spend extra time looking for them. That way users will come to you because you'll offer everything they need to know about a vehicle. So you'll get more reviews and shares! Next time talk only about the color of a car and nothing else and see what's happening!
Finalizing a purchase on Wednesday for a 17 A4 progressive, doesn't have the virtual cockpit but has a smaller screen inside the two dials. Moonlight blue, dark brown leather interior with oak wood trim. 25k miles for 27,990 canadian. Fucking hyped to have it brought to my province.
maybe base model was wrong choice of words but this doesn't have the performance that makes this car at best this is one of the world's best small sports sedans i get it you can only review what they guve you
the only version of this car that would be more powerful is the S4 when it gets released. This has the most powerful engine that Audi offers in this car in the world (252 HP). The other version offered in the US is the Ultra version that is down to 180hp
The exterior styling specifically the front could have been more vorsprung imo. The single frame grill needs a new shot of life. The C class looks more special.
I have one of these as a rental this week, 2017 A4 Quattro, base model. I was truly shocked at how much fun it it. I've test driven Audi a few times before, and unfortunately the dealer near my home is not near enough to my home, and is entirely staffed by fucking idiots who apparently don't understand the concept of selling cars. When I took a test drive a couple of years or so back I found that the A4 was sluggish and boring. The S4 was a blast, but then it should be for the $50K or so they wanted for it. Fast forward to this week and I drove this out of the airport and merged onto the freeway, if I had not have been paying very close attention it could have hit 90 in moments. It really does feel almost as quick as the BMW 335, which for a base model is amazing. And that famous Quattro system glues this car to the road so very nicely. I'm not currently in the market for a sedan because of family needs. But in snow belt this car would be quite awesome. I just wonder if it could be reasonably configured without the price point getting too silly. The one I have this week is knocking on the door of $40K and I still feel like they have withheld a bunch of options to punish me for not buying the upgrade packages. Knowing how German cars could be I'd be curious as to how silly the price could be to have some of the nice toys. Finally, although my base model doesn't have this, the LED display binnacle is a wonderful idea. It's time we retired off the stupid mechanical gauges. Now that we have high definition displays, there is no longer a need for ugly old dials.
That's if the electronic system doesn't glitch out or have display issues. Phones crash/lag all the time and they are way more refined than this software.
Honestly, that's such an old fashioned way of thinking. I remember my father complaining about electric windows in a car, because there's 'more to go wrong.' Modern gauges are completely electronic these days, it's not like there is a mechanical link to the engine. I'd also say there's a false comparison with a phone, because a phone also has a touch screen, so any glitches or issues may relate to user input. Whereas an electronic display on a car is basically a modern TV screen. I don't know about you but my iPhone doesn't glitch out, and my TV doesn't suddenly mess up. A simple LED color screen is not exactly bleeding edge technology; it's been around and is tried and tested. I've driven several vehicles with electronic displays and they are far more versatile that old school gauges and needles.
this is not a base engine. right now they offer two engines a 180hp 'ultra' version and this the 252 hp version. eventually they will offer an S4 which will be 330ishhp. The S4 competes with BMW 340i. but this is not a base model by any means.

Very curious to see how it compares to the competition. Mercedes has always been about comfort and luxury, BMW has always been about the driving experience, and the Audi has been a mix of the both. Without being in any of them I am leaning more towards the Mercedes but not a bog standard one, leaning more towards the C63 because I like the luxury and comfort that you get from the car and it's the only one that offers a v8 when compared to the competition.
Viren S audis have had somewhat similar, very brand identifiable styling since the aero Audi 100/5000 from '86. I like the evolutionary approach, though it can be tough to tell one generation from another.

mountainhobo That's great because audi cars are beautiful. I would like to believe that improvement means no more expensive repairs and no more quite regular visits to the dealer.
Something he didnt mention is, how good it is in winter conditions. This is probably the best sedan for driving in the winter.
This is the best (complete) Audi A4 review I have seen since the 2017 model has been available.
Doesn't scream for attention and still sporty out on the road with exceptional daily driving. Love it :)

MT? You mean Motor Trend? That is the worst automotive publication out there. Why do you think they call it MT?
Interiors of Audi are one of the best in business, same as Honda, Acura... What?
Lmao... right?!
Lots of positive reviews for the new A4
Bought a 17 Prem plus Quattro three days ago. Loving it so far.

Looks amazing. The buttons between the user interface and cup holders seems like a bad idea to be right there where you place your drinks. But if that is the worst, big deal. I love the clean exterior lines.
One of the best A4 reviews I’ve seen!
That warm tan leather arm rest does not go with the cold aluminum on the doors.
Even though you posted this review 6 months ago, I really think the 2017/2018 Audi A4 is an excellent car. Great review, Sam. Thanks.
Great review, I’m honestly considering a well-equipped 2017 A4 over an S4, don’t think I can justify the price difference when the A4 is so good!
The A4 is a cheeper more reliable option that is more suited to the everyday man. Cost of repairs are far cheeper than the S4 and the A4 scores a more reliable rating. Is the S4 faster? Best Audi A4 Review I have seen so far. Good Job.
I'm almost agreeing with Ben Haze below. This is my 2nd favorite complete A4 review for the 2017 model. Well done.
You seemed to like this much more than the similarly priced S3. interested in a review of the 6 speed manual.
Stunning looks.
I love how Mazda basically stole this interior haha.
no they didnt...
What? Where do you see it.. That's like saying the Mazda interior has buttons and vents
W-_-T the Mazda 6 clearly took inspiration
@@ss48g they did i noticed the same thing when i test drove one they just feel cheaper than audi ofc
Did you just compare the Audi’s interior with Honda, Acura, and Lexus? Are you crazy?
as soon as he said that i ran to these comments just to see if anyone else noticed that smh he did not just do that lolz
I think it was more of a comparison of the usability not exactly the quality
Great review man! Thank you.
Nice review sir...would have been nice to see the manual tested as well...I would imagine the fun factor would have been upped even more.

GREAT REVIEW!+ loved it. thanks for posting it! :)
Thanks Sam. Love your reviews. Nice car too. Pity about inferior interior plastics ;-) But still it cuts a handsome profile.
Love your reviews mate ! Fantastic !
So which A4 models don’t have the 12 inch screen an have regular needles for speedometers?

Im confused why the steering wheel isnt S-line but in the exterior shots, there were S-line badging...

perfect 👌. perfect review as always Sam. I really would like to see you do a review on Infiniti Q50.

amazing what the 2.0l are putting out nowadays.back in the late 70s they made 70 to 80 hp. lol
when I am putting the foot on the throttle, I don't hear that nice engine sound. Is there any specific settings to enable that sound ? I have the S Line package, and I was on dynamic mode
why anybody cannot include the f night lighiting ?
Sir, could you please define "pretty good" in cubic feet for the trunk size? Thanks for the review!
A notch better than "good". If you need numbers, consult the manufacturer's website.
Oh, this is not a complete review! Thanks... I'll look elsewhere in the future!...

different strokes for different folks. personally I dislike the present c-class and much prefer the Audi
C-Class is nice but its a curvy design. I really like the sharp lines on the A4.
