Hey Mark, welcome back to teaching. Good to see you back doing photography back here on UA-cam.
Hey, thanks! It's good to be back. So many new videos are on the way. I'm trying to edit as fast as possible. :)
Great video. I just wish those larger umbrellas were safe to use outside. I’ve had them invert, blown over and blown away.
yep, they are not made for shooting in Kansas.
Every time I watch your videos, it gets me very glad, but $850 for one strobe / flash off camera kit, even the case it does by battery, I can't agree with word 'affordable' in the same sentence with this kit.
Either way, your tips were great!
This setup would work with a Godox or Flashpoint flash. A Godox V1 would work great. Or a Flashpoint Xplor 100. Both are in the $250-$300 range.
Can you do something with flash that affordable, 900 for a flash for beginners is pushing it. Maybe 250 - 500 range

Godox 200 Pro
Thanks for the video. Most people don't realize what you can do with a simple umbrella. One question I have is what are "catalog shots"? I've heard that before but never knew what that meant. What's the difference from a portrait, headshot or full body shot?
wow 😍😍
Thanks!
You could just blast the light into the ceiling / wall behind you and give you big beautiful flat light
In a small room, that's absolutely possible. This studio has a very high black ceiling, so there's no light bouncing back. And with a small strobe, it would be difficult to get enough light to bounce off the rear wall. The ISO value would need to be high, and images could be too noisy for catalog work. It all depends on the environment.
Awesome!! Great to know if doing E Commerce on a budget. How about fashion jewelry photoshoot next. Thanks.
Great suggestion! Are you thinking tabletop or jewelry on a model?
@@MarkWallaceVideos Either one.
I usually like tabletop
I wonder if you could do one with the s24 ultra with a always ON soft light or something as I am presuming you won't be able to trigger it.
You'd have to have enough light to get enough in focus for a catalog shot. But I think it could definitely work with a smart phone. There are a lot of Nanlites and affordable constant lights to create soft and constant light. You'd also have to make sure to use the longest lens on the smartphone (zoom in) so you don't get distorted images.
Do you have any videos working with no flash and natural light
A lot of them!

I also have a few hundred videos on AdoramaTV from my 10 years of traveling around the world. Lots of natural light videos.
That's a really huge umbrela! lol
Very useful video mark, as usual 👍
Thanks! 😃
