How in the world is a horse ridden like that supposed to carry weight in a healthy way? I just don't get it... Head extremely high, the riders weight is shifted far back where it will block the natural movements of the horses back, no real collection whatsoever, and harsh bits to make the horse carry it's head unnaturally high, just because it looks good? That's how you gonna end up with a swayback horse.
look into the anatomy of an asb. their heads will stay up like that in the pasture, and their high stepping gait stays that way. some asb’s are born with sway backs, it has to do with breeding.
@@chrishale1345 Sure they do have a slightly different anatomy, just like friesean horses do. They also carry their heads pretty high and are often born with sway backs. But for me that's no excuse... If you have a horse breed like that and you decide to ride it, it is your responsibility to train that horse to carry you in a healthy way. It is way more difficult with breeds like that, but especially those horses deserve to be trained properly so that they can live a healthy life without pain and tense muscles. 🤔🤷
Swaybacks can happen in any discipline, it doesnt have anything to do with how we ride. They are built differently than other breeds which makes them so special.

She is posting way to high and the horse is not collected yes I ride saddleseat lol but yeah that’s just my opinion on the ride still a good job congratulations !!
AHHh_AbUsE yeah same, I’m going into WTC for the 2nd year this summer, she is way too tense and is obviously showing off lol, she’s alright not to be mean
Ella Brandon you do know that she was 11 right..and the point of Saddleseat is to show off the horse and rider. She’s posting high because 1: that horse is bouncing her up. And 2: she was tiny.
Kem Yes that is what saddleseat is to show of the horse and rider but in this video she is tensing up and not controlling the post and I’m not trying to come for her btw lol just in case it came out that way but this is just my opinion on the ride presented not on the rider.
Kem even if she is tiny, if you are controlling the horse properly there is no need to be bouncing like that. I’ve seen 4 year olds on yearlings controlling a horse better than that. I understand that the horse is a pleasure horse meaning it is judged on the horses appearance, but it’s nose is still to high and uncollected, more practice in the vital skills, like squeezing with her thighs and collecting the horse will make her look better.

I rode my Saddlebred Pleasure horse Saddle seat taking lessons from the late Sug Utz of Raytown and Sandy Ledbetter Lockton. I learned from Sug to keep my hands from going up and down while I post. Haley needs to relax her back muscles and not post any higher than she has to. Setting a horse's head is not static. It is constant give and take. Keeping a horse's head in place is not a position but a process. If you are going to ask the horse for more impulsion, you need to give it a little rein too, but no more than necessary. Just don't kick a horse into the bit or you will have an unhappy horse and tail twitching. Later on, I worked for Chat Nichols as a groom and was the groom for Sherry My Sherry the week that many times WC Five-Gaited Amateur and Ladies' mare was also new to Mr. Nichol's barn. Later, I worked for Charlie Huston and one of my charges was McDanish McDonald before he came known on the national Saddle Horse "stage." He placed third in the Three-gaited World Champion Class at Louisville under Tom Moore that same year he went through the sale at Tattersalls when I made the trip to the Lexington Jr. League Horse Show in the late 1970s. McDanish McDonald later went on to being a very useful equitation horse for someone. Chat Nichols was very hard to work for as he yelled at his help a lot, and Charlie Huston wasn't much easier.
