having spent a ridiculous amount of time watching strat comparison videos, this is by far the best. bravo!
Thank you! Much appreciated. Feel free to share the video, I would have thought it would have gotten more views by now.
Far out the amount of work that went into this! Killer job Rick.
Thanks Leon. I have a bit more of a game plan for when I do the Telecaster version after doing that.
The Squier Classic Vibe '50s Stratocaster was the value champ to me -- hung in there with the best-sounding USA models. Nice!
Best strat shootout video ever. Loving the sound of the Squier Classic Vibe 50s strat and Fender player strat plus top pau ferro fretboard. Thank you for all your hard work!
The fire engine red squire sounds the best of all of them!!!
CLASSIC VIBE YEA!!!
Thanks for doing this! Best shootout I’ve seen. Lotta work there. Nice job.
Best Strat shoot out on UA-cam bar none. ( And I’m a devout Gibson guy) Great work Rick. I have a 75th Anniversary Strat on hold coincidentally. Glad I did. To me it sounds great on your vid , as well as the Kotzen model . Subscribed!
Thanks for watching and the sub! More videos like this to come soon :)
Man, the black pickguard has made a comeback
Kotzen strat by far but the professional 11 with both fretboards were good . Wish ide never sold my silver strat plus ultra with the Floyd rose 2 . I didn't care for the lace sensor pickups much though. This is the best strat shootout I've ever seen thank you that was alot of work
Wow, awesome job, thank you! The red Classic Vibe is nice sounding!
Hi Rick, what an awesome comparison! A Squier Affinity was my first electric guitar... Completely modified now, but a great instrument. Im a huge fan of your podcast btw! :)))
Thank you Martin. I’ll be firing things back up with the podcast in a week or two after I get some live gigs out of the way.
Straight outta the gate, i love the comparison between a couple of identical models but with maple vs pau farrel or rosewood boards... (Player Plus and the AmPro2) anyone doubting the difference can clearly hear it here! It's the glassy maple for me 😊
I’ve always preferred the snap of a maple fretboard. There is definitely a difference. Thanks for watching :)
Classic vibe are very good. That 50s with maple fretboard is almost as good as it gets
It is. It's just as good as it gets. Best sound best looks best price !
Just found your channel Best review of fenders I have seen just goes to prove yes there is a slight difference but not that much, so it boils down to the old does it feel good in your hands is it in your budget, oh and the worst thing but an important thing do you like the colour, think the squire classic vibes series hit the mark
1:22 3:53 ...this 75th Anniversary must be a nice and honest strat ! 13:06
Great one. And interesting. Pardon my ignorance, Rick. But... the plastic film on some of the pickups make no change to the sound? Just curious.
Thank you. Theoretically it shouldn’t make a difference having a thin plastic film on some of the pickups.
A really impressive stratocaster comparison, with very good guitar performance and sound !!! ...I'm wondering if it would be interesting to include a part of DRY DI RECORDINGS ....so that we could also use these samples for reamping and compare these instruments with our amplifiers or our music software...
That’s a great idea. I have the di files still on my laptop.
@@RickHollis Personally I would be very happy if this happened ... It would be like I could hear and check all these guitars in my room with my equipment with different sounds clean crunch drive etc and compare their sound with my own guitar!... wow !!! I think it is worth trying !!!
tour de force
I find that there really is not much difference in terms of sound between the Squier and Fender series after each point of view are all excellent guitars!
Lol that 50s squier has a sound that is distinct.
Differences seem minor in recorded sound. Actual changes are easier or harder to play, tuning stability, and zzz fret sounds as you scale up on the neck. So, mostly only the guitar player notices the difference when it is actually playing. And that costs thousand dollars...
I liked the player series with the floyd. I know it has been quite some time since you shot this video but do you remember how the player series’ feel? Do you think it’s worth spending around ~700€ for a mexican strat?
Great video by the way! Best comparison video I have seen so far. I am talking about the guitar on 19:50 to be exact
@@gorilla2284 I have a thing for Strats with Floyd arise myself. I was curious myself as to how it would sound A/B’d to one without. From memory, it felt great. The edges of the fretboard could do with some rolling, but that’s easy to do and something I do to a lot of my cheaper guitars using the edge of a screwdriver anyway.
Thanks for the comment! Feel free to share. I could do with some views :)
Came from Tonetalk Ask Dave )))
Thank you! A friend just sent me a link saying the guys gave me a shoutout. Both Marc and Dave are great guys.
@@RickHollis amazing shootout. Really clarifies the differences and the fact that expensive guitar could sound "dead" and dull. Also very interesting that even ultra noisless is not as responsive in dynamic as passive singles.
They all sound like guitars
I understand Feel, tactic feedback, quality hardware Ect, reviews on guitars. However, I never understood these YT guitar shootouts or sound-quality videos. As you only get about 0-10% of the guitar honest tone coming thru the speaker at the viewer's end of things. Everything else is the content providers' audio software creating the tone & color of the audio, even if they play thru a real amp > and that is a real fact! Everything the video signal is going thru is coloring the shit out of the audio even if they don't touch the EQ. Again that is Real!
For me the fiesta red Squier 50’s classic vibe sounded the best out of all of them. Gonna get one of those!!!
Love the classic vibe 50s strat. Maybe in a few years time i might get the richie kotzen strat
Wow that's a lot of strats. None were the Monterey 😆 🤣 😂 I like the kotzen
Lol!! That’s the right answer, Mike :)
I own a Kotzen myself. It just has a bloom around the notes when using the neck pickup that none of my other guitars have.
@@RickHollis yeah it just sounded great mate. 👍
Been loving your Monterey Strat videos mate. Great detective work and it’s been essential morning coffee viewing.
@@RickHollis thanks brother glad you've enjoyed them
If this is all I know about them, then I'll save dough and buy the Affinity.
Depends what you’re listening on. Anything BUT the Affinity is useable to me. Affinity sounds like it has a blanket over the speaker with no clarity. They all felt different to play. The Chinese made Contemporary series has a great feeling neck in comparison to the Affinity.
I suggest you go with the Squire 50's. The tones are naturally vintage with a good quality.
@@Ry_Valz a young friend of mine just bought a Squier classic vibes 50’s as an upgrade from his Affinity Strat after seeing this and he couldn’t be happier.
