This is purely an educated guess on why they're so popular right now.
I'd just about bet that some of those purchases were for people who are into trains, clocks, ships, airplanes, all industrial things 19th - early 20th century.
And that's multiple generations overlapping. It's been positively wild for a history nerd like me to watch.
To be fair, the interest has probably always been there, it's just easier for people to find people with the same specific interests because of the internet.
But yes, throw all of the different hobbies/interests in a blender, plus a dash for each generation and TADA! That might just be your answer.
Or I could be completely wrong. 😂
The other cool thing about that piece in particular is the versatility of it. The tray alone could be so many things.

Really late to this video lol but just would have loved to see you use metallic silver poska markers and go along the sides of the game table of the piece! It would have tied together the silver with the copper aside from the cogs and the X’s and O’s
