Last time in Vegas i gambled $40. With all the fees (convenience fees etc) and uncertainty of cost, gambling was unappealing. The unwritten agreement was you gamble and we'll treat you well. They stopped treating us well and this MGM stuff is just the latest example.

Once you start doing advantage play slots you start to notice how many others are doing the same thing. If you see someone walking up to machines and tapping the through menus for all the different denominations to show the bonuses they are advantage playing. It's likely easier to spot that on the cameras than to review their player's club play.

We basically stopped going to Vegas due to several factors (homeless population on the streets, dirty and run-down properties, price gouging, hospitality (or rather unhospitable) staff, etc)
We go to the 2 big Oklahoma casinos (WinStar and Choctaw) and the Beau Rivage in Biloxi.
The down-side to the Indian casinos is no free drinks. (other than colas) The drinks are about $10-$14 for cocktails and around $4-$6 for beer.
The Beau has really been our go-to place for the past 3 years. We go about 3-5 times per year, and we will be making our 4th trip this year next week. (Drinks are free if you are gambling, just like Vegas) - We get the junket trip offers every month (air, hotel, freelay) all 100% comped. There is not as much stuff to do and spend your money on there, as there is in Vegas, so our gambling budget for each trip is bigger. ☺
We will still visit Vegas, but once every 3-4 years is plenty for us, due to the crap mentioned above. When we do go, it costs us for the air, the extra restaurant's we try, the shows we see, etc, so about an extra $3k per trip. By going to the Beau, that money goes to the degenerate fund.

    • @davidsigalow7349
      @davidsigalow7349 19 годин тому

We just had our first MGM junket from Daytona Beach to Borgata Atlantic City. It was a great experience, and the Borgata is a very nice property. We went to see "The Hook" at Caesars AC, which is similar to "Absinthe" and some local Jersey red-sauce joints. If we start getting more similar offers, I could see an AC trip replacing an LV trip.

    • @44Mag
      @44Mag 19 годин тому

@@davidsigalow7349 Yes, the Borg is nice, though it has been about 7 years since my last visit there. We get the flight junkets to AC, Saint Louis, and Biloxi on the regular (most months have two trips to select from.)
Someone asked me about our action to get the free trips, and what I thought they were really worth, so....
Our gamble budget is between $4k-$6k per trip (3-4 days) and I normally play about 3-4 hours of table games per day and about 2-3 hours of slots ($.25c-$1 mostly, with a very little bit of $5-$10 machines thrown in) - This seems to be enough action to get the trips.
My wife does not gamble more than $100 per trip, and she gets the same junket offers, but at a fee of about $400 per person. I have looked at buying the airfare and it would run about $325 per person, so I would value the offer at around $700 per trip (based on what I would have to pay out of pocket after cab ride, etc)
My freeplay offer at the Beau is within $100 of what I get for a Vegas trip to an MGM property, (Usually between $400-$600) so that is nearly a wash.
However, I do typically get $400 or so resort credit on the Vegas trips, and so far, I have not received that at the Beau. The only extras they have given is show tickets to whomever was performing during our visit.
So in summary, we get more in comps for Vegas trips to MGM properties, but overall, the junkets are a good value for the action given, I think.
(Air, hotel, and freeplay amount works out to about a 15%-18% rebate of action given)
The comp amounts have remained pretty stable, even on the couple of trips that we returned with more cash than we left with. (about 2 of the 7 recent trips)
      Cheers!

My resort credit ( meals) was going from $1000 to $500. My room accommodations was being reduced from Spa Tower suite to a “regular suite “. The only perk that was not taken away was pick up from/to airport. I’m assuming that I’m not giving back more of my winnings!!

4:52 the problem with RLCs means that cars need to have license plates on them in the first place. Endemic to the valley are no plates, expired plates, and who knows if the plates are even correct. I've sat at red lights with police right behind a no-plated car and......... nothing. And Red Light Running is just as terrible.... and not likely Cali drivers... I see it all over, Summerlin, Enterprise, Hendertucky, they don't care.
I'm a transplant to LV from a RLC state (AND speed camera state)... and in those 15 or so years I got no RLC tickets. So just stop at the line and you won't get a ticket.

I assumed it was a given the Mirage Atrium would be demolished along with the Volcano from the very beginning. Like: how would you interpolate something like that into a loosely rock-and-roll themed resort if you can't even find a way to work the Volcano into it? (especially given Grateful Dead's drummer was directly involved in composing its score).
Chris Martin really is an international treasure. I know many frown on Coldplay's music being almost sickeningly schmaltzy and platitude-heavy, but to their credit their albums have always had plentiful deeper cuts with surprising teeth and stylistic curveballs than they often are given credit for ("Amsterdam", "White Shadows", "Glass Of Water", "Major Minus", "Chinese Sleep Chant", "Midnight", etc.). Their new album "Moon Music" even has a couple of those at least with "ALiEN HITS/ALiEN RADIO" and "AETERNA" in my opinion). And when their music just elicits such warm, fuzzy feelings that inspire unity and honoring our highest ideals, I fail to see how anyone can hate on that. I really think Chris Martin is about as close to a Dolly Parton of his generation among all lead singers of acts. 😊
The NBA makes a lot of sense at the site adjacent to Rio. I hope it happens. 🙂

One was handing out free glasses of Champagne from a pyramid of glasses. The other was on a higher platform pouring the Champagne into the top glasses so it cascaded down. 🎉Congratulations to your wife on the big win. That is a 934 times versus your original bet. That is super rare. I usually leave the slot machine when I win 20 times my original bet as I figure the winning is gone for a while. As for MGM targeting advantage slot players, it seems very pretty. I do keep an eye out for machines that continually pay out. For example if I am playing and I notice a certain machine is paying out quite often or if I walk by certain machines and notice they payoff a lot. If that makes me an advantage player then so be it.

Technically (not that I agree with it) any slot tickets left in the casino are considered state property (Nevada revised Statute 205) and it is illegal to take it if you find it. Most casinos don't enforce this (from what I see) but I have heard of a few instances where people were charged for simply taking a found slot ticket and keeping it.

The issue with advantage play has nothing to do with slot payback - those machines pay out the same as any other in aggregate. The problem is the advantage players themselves and I applaud MGM for addressing it. Some, not all, advantage players have been literally stalking the machines waiting until they get to the perceived "payout" timing. If another player is playing a machine they are stalking they become very aggressive to that player to get them off the machine. They will crowd in on the player, sit next to them and use smoke and other actions to drive them away and in a few rare instances literally threaten the player.
While I am not a fan of the punishing the whole for the actions of a few it does appear MGM is being careful with who they are applying this restriction to. If you occasionally play advantage games you have nothing to worry about. If they see you stalking them, then expect to lose your benefits at their properties.

The shutdown of advantage players was a major topic on the Vegas board I follow. I understand it. These players start with casino-provided freeplay. They know how to convert that to cash by playing certain machines. (Most freeplay generates little cash) Then they use that cash on advantage machines to generate more slot dollars, rewards points, tier credits. Rinse & repeat. Now they're getting suites, limos, and huge resort credit offers, and the computer keeps giving bigger freeplay in offers. $$Thousands! But they're really not risking much of their own cash.
The casinos generally kickback one-third of theoretical loss in comps, offers, etc. If the player has figured out a method so that they win much more than theo, the casino could be losing money on them due to compd rooms, food, etc.

However, there are some players like me that degen on non-AP slots and occasionally play AP slots when the opportunity presents itself.
What the casinos need to do is to crackdown on AP teams that camp around AP slots, which makes normal patrons uncomfortable.
The teams can be easily spotted as they take pictures of the AP play before/during/after the play as an accounting to the enterprise.
If casinos can sweep the AP enterprise teams and give 1 warning then trespass them if caught again, problem solved.

Talking about no drinking at that casino, one that I always find amusing is the Singapore Sands Casino. The locals have to pay to get in and then can only stay for 24 hours. But if you are a tourist it is easier and quicker to get into the country than it is to get in to the casino. To get into the country you just scan your passport. To get into the casino you have to show the equivalent of the US ESTA form. So you have to go to a staff member, show this form on your phone and then move on to the next staff member and show your passport…..and you can’t leave the casino without showing your passport again.

Ap slots- it is widely known now, it is an issue, and thank God they are doing something about it. Unfortunately, you guys are ignorant of the issues and your opinions on it are incorrect. The major issue are the Asians. They have spotters that hover on top of you while you are playing ap machines, they wait until you get up then, bc they have no money, text others to come play machines and get a kickback. Sometimes there are actual fights over who gets the machine when there is more than one person sitting on a machine waiting. It's an issue and it's a good thing they are making it more difficult for them to earn. Borgata has tossed dozens of the Asian teams. I'm surprised you guys are unaware of it, there are a few UA-cam slot channels dedicated to ap slots. Any bonus machine in vegas you see a bunch of ppl, usual Asians, watching while someone else is playing, that's prob a bonus machine. Regal riches, Buffalo ascension are two that are easy to see this on.

I don't understand what Advantage Slot Playing is. The only thing I can come up with is if you play a machine that has a "Must hit xxx Jackpot by xxx spend" or "must hit bonus by XXX buffalo heads" Which is a publicly displayed thing. How MGM or anyone can figure it out seems crazy to me to cut down on comps for those players. I would love to hear what it actually is, or if it is really anything that a common player needs to worry about.
No matter what I think you guys hit it on the head by pointing out the problem is that MGM hides how you earn points, based on denomination, bet level, type of game, etc. and there is no real way to know what you will earn on each game without spending a huge amount of time figuring it out for each individual game.

That's correct, must hit progressives like the old "Thundercash" machines are beatable. But there are many other new machines. Regal Riches is a very famous one where you can play for the Purple, Green and Yellow bonuses (recommend playing purple 56 or higher). Buffalo Ascension is also a popular play where the reels grow and when they reach a reel height of 8 you get the bonus. So a profitable play for buffalo ascension is to only play it when 2 reels have a height of 7.

MGM is trying to court their online sports bettors. I have offers from 8 Vegas hotels for 3 or 4 night comp rooms, plus resort credits and free play. The interesting thing is that they ignored sports bettors for a long time but now the offers are rolling in now that I am betting on betmgm more consistently. I just got assigned a host for VIP sports gambling. I really thought I was a small sports bettor but I guess I was wrong. I really only take a little portion of my profits to sports gamble as I find the easiest money is against the wall street pros that are managing people's retirement accounts. Once you understand how Wall street works, it is relatively easy to make money off the wall street pros. One other thing is that the gambling on wall street is much more than what goes on in Vegas. People would be upset if they knew how the wall street folks manage people's money.

To further add to the speculation regarding Vegas sports, I have been reading that Major League Rugby (MLR) wants to expand to Vegas within the next few years after seeing how successful the NRL was with their games at Allegiant back in March. Vegas is a rugby town given how popular the HSBC 7's events were when they were held at Sam Boyd Stadium. Since Allegiant would likely be too big for an MLR team, I think Cashman Field (where the Lights play) would be the best choice for this new team unless the new team wants to build a brand new stadium that would be their home alongside being the new home for the Lights who need a new stadium in my view to continue their growth.

I missed the original story about the 'grass' (though it looks like plastic astro turf to me) round the New York New York Statue of Liberty.
The genuine statue doesn't rise out of water either, it stands in the middle of an island, with rather a lot of grass! But if people want to preserve the water reference, there's a historic ship here in the UK that's permanently in dry dock but the hull is surrounded by coloured and textured glass that does a good job of suggesting water. Why not do something like this?

The Oak View Group is the same company that built the new NHL arena in Seattle (they've also built and/or manage arenas elsewhere). Seattle's new arena also puts them in line for an NBA expansion team. Now, the NBA needs two cities to expand into, and you can imagine the frontrunner would be Las Vegas - if they have an arena plan and funding in place. The Seattle arena was 100% privately funded by OVG, so they likely have the resources to do that here too. I don't think they'll actually own the Vegas NBA team but would likely facilitate an ownership group, just as they did in Seattle (where the brother of OVG's CEO is a co-owner of the Kraken).
It's a pretty solid business case here, and seems like a slam dunk (sorry) considering the people involved, their reputations, and their expertise at getting this stuff done. Swooping in to grab the Rio spot would also add a nice little "f--- you" bow for the A's ownership.

Montrealer here. Montreal casino is ran by a government org which does not treat it as one singular property but rather multiple sections attached altogether under one casino umbrella. In Montreal (and most of Canada) you are not allowed to walk around in public with a drink in hand. Because it is a government property & government wanted to go super strict & by the book, they opted to designate gaming areas as public areas because people can walk through gaming areas to reach other sections of the floor. As a result, drinks are not served in the general gaming area.
HOWEVER, there are some gaming sections, such as the poker room, which don't fall under that rule because you cannot walk through them to reach other areas (hence not public pathway) so you can get drinks in those places. This is government handling at its "best"!
Speaking of weird government regulations in Montreal Casino, here is another strange thing about it: Because it is ran by a state org (and not federal), it has to abide by province's French language directives, which means...playing cards used in the poker room are in FRENCH!! So Queen is not Q but rather D (short for Dame which is Queen in French) & King is not K but R (short for Roi which is French for King) Now THAT is confusing as heck!
