Another great video, Jonny. Always nice to see and hear some great flutes--especially drones (love 'em)! Any chance that low A drone might make an appearance at the Summit?
I have no interest in getting a drone flute, but definitely enjoyed the last one the most. The 2x4 flute was very interesting. I know this next comment is irrelevant to the drone flutes, but a friend gave me a six hole flute in the key of E. I struggled to play it so I purchased a five hole flute in the key of G. As I am learning to play it I find I can now play the six hole flute better. Thanks for posting your videos and putting up with my irrelevant comments. 😁
I don't find your comment irrelevant at all; people often find that as they get more used to playing, their reach grows and they're better able to play larger, lower flutes. This would be true for drones too!
I have been playing a single F# for a long time and need to make sure the reach on a drone I get would be similar. I play in nursing facilities and they love the sound so much and I try to play songs they know, i.e. Blowing in the Wind or Jesus Loves Me. Thanks for your help.
Hm. I just arrived here through a weird line of thought. I've been considering putting a drone flute on top of a metal rhythm section in a folk metal style. Listening to these compared, in such a context the middle A tuning, highest of the bunch seems to be the right one. 440 Hz drone, plus the overall tonal range would put it roughly in the same context as the top two guitar strings. Sorry for being guitar centric there, I'm trying to branch out :) But that'd be a perfect range for a lead or high harmony instrument in this context. And quite a few bands use different kinds of flutes in such a context. A lower tuned flute ... I fear just wouldn't be noticable against the mayhem between amplified guitars or a bass in the lower ranges. Or am I very wrong there?

I actually think the large flute is sooo beautiful to look at ✨
That last one has the most beautiful drone resonance. A bit expensive but definitely something I want to get in the future. Connects to my soul 😌
Very nice comparison Jonny and as always thanks for sharing ✌️
My pleasure!
Thank Johnny another great video
The actual question is...which kind of magic would you like to channel? Absolutely mesmerizing! ❤
That is a great way to put it!

Not irrelevant at all, Conny. Playing a larger flute will automatically make the smaller ones more viable for you. It's kind of a trick! 😉
@@JonnyLipford Thanks, that does explain why I am now able to play the smaller flute better.
