  • In this episode, the amazing Jimmy Vivino and Bob Margolin play the first Fender Esquire (a 1949 prototype) and a beautiful 1954 Gibson Les Paul. They talk Muddy Water, their favorite blues sidemen, Muddy’s “Real Folk Blues,” their first slides, favorite licks, and “filling in the cracks.”

Jimmy V , my personal hero . And the best part of the original Conan O'Brien show . I watched just to see which guitar Jimmy would be playing that night .

Great stuff! It's amazing how those vintage guitars just seem to have so much more soul in them.

Can anyone explain to me why I love this music…these blues but can not stand contemporary bands that say they play blues. And it’s always best when there’s piano, harmonica, horns, and drums. Anyone remember from Chicago… Bob Reidy’s blues band. Made up of all the old original blues guys. It was spectacular beyond description

Guitars are panned opposite to their seating positions... a little unnerving with headphones :)
