My family and friends were big fans of Steve. I am from Washington IN and Steve's brother Sam played high school in Washington. One of Steve's long time assistants is Craig Neal was graduated from Washington.
No, it’s not good players are getting paid. Getting an athletic scholarship for up to 4 years of high quality education IS pay for services rendered. Coach Knight was right that there should be a minor league system for basketball players who don’t want to go to college but want a professional basketball career. The problem is the universities will lose billions in revenue if that were to happen. It’s a money issue, but it is a waste of scholarships and the player’s time if they are only going to college so they can get into the pro game.
In 2000, when I got recruited to a lot of SEC schools, it would have been nice! That being said I agree with you 💯! The education that cost regular students 100s of thousands of dollars in some cases earns these "student" athletes millions! It seems extreme to me!
They all don't get full rides. So pump the breaks. I don't think they should get paid at all. However, they do need something. Tone down the price of college. What about the scholars? The geniuses? Do they get paid? Nope. College is an absolute scam and my kid ain't going
I am an IU fan from the 70s and Steve and I are same age... how he is not at a major program is hilarious the guy can coach
My father in law was the janitor at New Castle Chrysler High School gym when Steve was playing there.
