Just discovered your channel here. This is indeed one of the all time great love songs. Paul McCartney is often criticized for his simple, direct lyrics but they often get right to the heart of things in a way more "sophisticated" lyrics don't.
You summed it up perfectly. He was a young, successful, good looking, and already wealthy young man in his 20s who could have had a girl in every town but he met the love of his life in beautiful Linda and was devoted to her until her far too early death.

Harri, Paul was in a league of his own when it came to love songs. Linda was indeed the love of his life. Please note though, that many early Beatles love songs by Paul were inspired by Jane Asher, his love during that particular period of time.
This, and Maybe I'm Amazed are my all time favorite love songs. Paul voice was so pure, and his lover's soul just shines when he sings his "silly love" longs. Honestly, though I am a divorced person, I can only hope to find a loving, enduring, relationship like his and Linda's...that LOVE has been immortalized in his music, and exemplified in his life.

The recording of My Love was basically completed, when it came time to record the orchestration and guitar solo. Paul had composed a guitar solo for Irish born guitarist Henry McCullough to play. This solo was to be recorded live, with the orchestra. Moments before the session was to begin, Henry told Paul he was going to play his own solo and not the one Paul had written. Paul wasn't at all happy with this and was quite concerned with this last minute change. Orchestra recording sessions are incredibly expensive and Paul feared the solo would not fit the song and many takes would be required to get the solo just right. . Paul needn't have worried because, in only one take, Henry played one of the most iconic guitar solos ever put to tape. So perfect was Henrys solo that every guitarist whoever played My Love, after Henry left Wings, plays it note for note. Best wishes Harri, RNB
A brilliant solo, that might never had seen the light of day. To me, the most impressive part of this story Harri is Paul. How many Mega-Superstars would've been so willing to turn the guitar solo to basically his sideman, on perhaps their greatest love song, without hearing a single note? Creativity stifled is creativity lost. RNB
That shows a degree of trust that would be hard for me… Paul is protective of his music like his children, lol, so I understand his reservations. I’m glad Henry came through for him there. But I wonder how Band on the Run would have turned out if Paul didn’t have that hardship or recording in Africa with only Linda and Denny.
@@thesilvershining McCartney, Ram, Wild Life and Red Rose Speedway all show Paul trying (in some cases succeeding) to find his footing. I think My Love was the song that signaled (as a solo artist and ex Beatle) Paul had arrived. When he got that solo from Henry, it must've been energizing. Having your song dynamically improved when you least expect it are those moments songwriters live for. Till then, Denny was more a sounding board than an equal. Henry reacquainted Paul with the benefits of true collaboration. When it came time for Band On The Run, Paul was a reinvigorated artist. I'll bet his thinking was, 'Sod those two if the don't want to make an album' His confidence had been fully restored and his confidence was growing. Made a fine album to boot. Cheers, RNB

One of Paul's best love songs for sure...right up there with Baby I'm Amazed. Linda was his soul mate. IMO all his best love songs were for her. Great reaction Harri! Just one little picky thing. The band is called 'Wings' not' The Wings'. Keep the good stuff coming!
Thank you for your reaction! Paul was my favorite Beatle as well! From his solo career the only better love song he wrote is Maybe I'm Amazed. I dont know if youve been told about Paul MCcartney's more recent "My Valentine" His voice doesnt have the range that it once had, but the song is truly haunting. « My Love » IS a beautiful love song, I agree. « Maybe I’m Amazed » is another one. There’s a track on the Beatles White Album called « I Will » which is also very good. It’s especially a solo song because Paul played all the instruments. A different kind of love song is the song « Here Today » that Paul wrote for John, after his death. Very poignant. Another poignant love song that John wrote for his son Sean is called « Beautiful Boy ». As a father, that one gets me every time. « Hey Jude » is also kind of a love song. « And I Love Her » ain’t bad either. 🥰
Harri. You seem like a really lovely human being. I agree the "My Love" is a masterpiece of love and music ... All for Linda. I do have another song from Paul in 1997 called "Beautiful Night" from the Flaming Pie album. This song is produced by George Martin with a huge number of violins as well as other instruments including great horns. I'm a Paul lover since I was 2 in 1966 and "Beautiful Night" just blew my mind. I am subbed with notifications. You have such a nice spirit and you even made this 56 year old tear up. Cheers, my brother.
It was so cool to share the goosebumps with you man. I got this record as a christmas present in some time in 1578 I think, we listened to it all night with my little sister.
Maybe I'm Amazed. His first solo release. He played all the instruments I believe Linda did Singh background on this I'm not sure. The album was called McCartney
Yeah, right, you're a real bastard, a regular Hell's Angel. LOL !!! Youre a guy with a big heart and thats why Paul can get into it and make you cry. Nothing wrong with that, man. Those feelings are the best kind. The love we give and the love we get. Thats what makes life so good . Even "when the cupboard's bare" you'll still find something there with your love .
Just try the song 'Only One More Kiss' from the same album 'Red Rose Speedway' or 'No More Lonely Night' in the '80's. And for sure 'Dear Friend' on John Lennon is an incredible song, it's sad and both such a poem-song... Cheers man!

Answering your questions
1) I think "My love" is the most beautiful love song of his, and the best of all his romantic songs of his career (even that in BEATLES, that best is "Here there and ev'rywhere")
2) "My love" is in my Top 10 of his post BEATLES career:
Maybe I'm amazed
My love
Live and let Die
Band on the run
Venus and Mars/Rock show
Silly love songs
Mull of Kintyre
Tug of war
Hope of deliverence
My brave face
(I'm afraid of being unfair with so many great Paul McCartney songs)
3) In my opinion and personal taste, the Top 5 in the entire history of Paul McCartney is:
"Hey Jude"
"Let it Be"
"Live and let Die"
"Band on the run"
and the meddley of Abbey Road:
"Golden slumbers/Carry that weight/The end"
Any of these songs is worth listening to and for your reactions, some are not only classics but also have the category of popular hymns
So, summing up I agree with you that "My love" is his best and most beautiful love song
But it is not the best song of him (although it is in a Top 10, and that is very good in the ectense and prolific musical work of Paul McCartney)

One cannot contain the Bliss felt in recognising "The Divine Cause" of not only the irrefutable love and joy Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, and Richard Starkey have given to the world, but The Unconditional Love and Wisdom the Great Ones of all true Religions have selflessly offered the world since time immemorial.
Man I love your appreciation of beautiful music and musicianship.
Beautiful music, humility, gratitude, Divine wisdom and unconditional love always melts the heart of this hard-mans tenderness. I'm not ashamed to admit that I have a soft-spot for for all.
Keep showing the Macho Man how much wisdom, love, joy and happiness is found in tears of gratitude and humility.
Grateful for your contribution good buddy.🥇🎼🎤🎸🥁🎶🎵🎹👏👏👏👏
'Girl'. I simply adore this song.
one of my top fav songs by the Beatles
One of Paul's best love songs for sure...right up there with Baby I'm Amazed. Linda was his soul mate. IMO all his best love songs were for her. Great reaction Harri! Just one little picky thing. The band is called 'Wings' not' The Wings'. Keep the good stuff coming!
Great song by a great band...love Joe English on drums!
you are correct harry.....the appropriate reaction to a brilliant love song - so simple lyrically , yet some powerful emotions and brilliant music .
Queen. You're my best friend.
Thank you for your reaction! Paul was my favorite Beatle as well! From his solo career the only better love song he wrote is Maybe I'm Amazed. From when he was a Beatle his best were "And I Love Her", "Here There and Everywhere" and "For No one". From this same era you would also enjoy "Too Many People". Enjoy your McJourney!
Mack, what about My Love from the Wings? Thats a breath taking song
@@HarriBestReactions Hey Harri! My Love is the song you reacted to, and it is breathtaking! I was referring to other great McCartney love songs in addition to this one. Mull of Kintyre is not specifically a love song, but it is an emotional one! Cheers!
You’re beautiful, thank you!
Maybe the best love song ever written...
Live as well, best song writer ever, great reaction.
I love this song. It reminds me so much of being at day camp in NYC as a kid.
one of the best songs by the Beatles
Not by The Beatles, by Wings
Just to say that I heard Paul sing this in 1973 at the Liverpool Empire his first return to the city since the Bestles It was a great show Harri and Made me a big Wings fan. Towards the end he played his naughty banned by the BBC HI Hi Hi. "Banned for being dirty but it isn't dirty." he shouted as an intro
React to it and see what YOU think Harri It is a great little rocker. Drugs in it as well. You bad boy , Paul ! SO 2 bad boys together lol
My absolute favourite Paul McCartney song is Beautiful Night which was half-written in the mid 80s, but eventually finished and recorded with Ringo in the mid 90s. There’s also Wanderlust, which is a gorgeous song.
I don’t think anybody has mentioned #dearfriend it’s a song for John like LittlelambDragonfly I believe
All the others that have been said are brilliant and there is no one like him
I know this reactin is old, but I just caught on to your vids. I like yur reactions cuz theyre honest... and yes, my love is a truly beautiful song. I dont know if youve been told about Paul MCcartney's more recent "My Valentine" His voice doesnt have the range that it once had, but the song is truly haunting. Hees still a master song writer... still got it. Check it out if you havent. Beautiful. Hes like an endless well of songs. Paul is definitely my favorite artist. John was no slouch himself!
New subscriber here brother ✌️
Other Paul songs to check out,
Here Today (written for John after his death)
Nineteen Hundred Eighty Five
Let Me Roll It (live version)
Maybe I’m amazed (Live version)
Juniors Farm
Hi Hi Hi
I could on forever 😂
I got this record as a christmas present in some time in 1578 I think, we
listened to it all night with my little sister.
Maybe I'm Amazed...listen that one
It is the kinda song that any man or woman for that matter would happily sing to their love beautiful piece by Sir Paul
Great reaction
My love it's by far his best SOLO love song. At the level of LET IT BE/ THE LONG AND WIDING ROAD/HEY JUDE/ ☯️✌
Maybe I'm Amazed. His first solo release. He played all the instruments I believe Linda did Singh background on this I'm not sure. The album was called McCartney
"Maybe I'm Amazed" is right up there with "My Love".
I should do it next
Yeah, right, you're a real bastard, a regular Hell's Angel. LOL !!! Youre a guy with a big heart and thats why Paul can get into it and make you cry. Nothing wrong with that, man. Those feelings are the best kind. The love we give and the love we get. Thats what makes life so good . Even "when the cupboard's bare" you'll still find something there with your love .
This song made me cry when I was younger, never loved again.
Silly love songs is my favorite love song from him with wings. It's simple and gorgeous.
My Love blows silly out of the ballpark.
McCartney’s “ One more kiss” is my lady’s heart melter.
I love “so bad” as a live song
My Valentine. Paul McCartney
This is Tied for MAYBE IM AMAZED for his Linda songs. BLUEBIRDS is another great song of his.
I love how you describe music, keep up the awesome vids!
You are a good gentle man inside, indeed, I like your reactions.
React to “Bluebird” by Paul McCartney
Huge #1 record in 1973.❤
Just try the song 'Only One More Kiss' from the same album 'Red Rose Speedway' or 'No More Lonely Night' in the '80's. And for sure 'Dear Friend' on John Lennon is an incredible song, it's sad and both such a poem-song... Cheers man!
