Three more bluegrass licks to use out of a g shape. I'm working on a detailed improvising course. If you're interested in learning more with me in the meantime check out my super-detailed, prerecorded video lessons (you'll get access to TAB as well as online group lessons too).
If bluegrass is a language, I am Helen Keller
This comment got me good hahah.
Legendary comment
more true than you think
Thank you. I needed that.
Look, I'm a huge Marcel fan and follow all the other big bluegrass UA-camrs, but this dude right here is the only one pushing the envelope with licks that are truly unique. It's hard to come up with 'new' kinds of bluegrass stuff because it's such a structured genre and there are lots of players that will turn their nose up if you aren't recycling G runs all day and wearing a bolo tie. Alex is trying to break out of the status quo, and I'm ALL here for it.
Quite possible the most motivational comment I have received this far. Many thanks!!!
I second matt on this! I got yelled at by a bunch of old timers for praticing the minor pentatonic scale, saying that "i was trying to throw everyone off" by doing so... Which means I'm desperately seeking out some vocabulary that pushes the limits a bit, since I won't be getting it from the old guard down here!
I agree
How about any videos on practicing right hand technique? That would be a great video that would help a lot of people. Some advice on how to practice the right hand or hand if you happen to be a left-handed. Great videos. I love all of them.
Love these lesson videos. Very difficult for me to follow along, but I'm definitely glad I slid over to the full vid from the short. Keep em coming
Glad you like them!
Love your channel, Alex.
Thanks!
Great lick! Really enjoying your content!
Incredible tutorials, my dude!
Keep at it and we'll help ya grow

Thanks so much for these videos. You have a gift of explaining things that make sense & can be easily understood.
You are so welcome!
Hey, this is great thanks Alex 👍
Fantastic! Such a great instructional video! Packed with some great information! Thank you and God bless!
Glad it was helpful!
Dude...Ive just subscribed...I think you're ready for the national flatpicking championships! Did ya ever enter? Keep up the great work....
Many thanks! Glad you’re enjoying! I have not ever entered. Thought about it. Not sure if I’m cut out for the competition stuff.
Man thank you for sharing these, I’m new to playing bluegrass, and trying to take breaks during jams is killing me, I feel like once I’m in the pocket it isn’t so bad, but getting to that point is so tough for me. Playing guitar since I was 13 but bluegrass makes me look as if I’ve only played for 13 months.
Sweet licks thanks! The first one also works well as a C lick
Damn this is great. Thanks
love em
Cheers for all the information bro and happy st Patrick s day from Ireland 🇮🇪 bro take care be well .. Brian 🇮🇪🎸🎸🎸🎸
Same to you!
So good. Can't wait to start learning these. Still working on the last one you did in G...
Have fun!
First lick reminds me so much of nutshell reversed and with a few deviation. I would love to take a course with you alex.
Absolutely!
Have you checked this out: www.skool.com/alexs-acoustic-club-5005/about
Alex, very beneficial lesson. Curious to know what pick and what mm do you use?
Glad to see Trevor Moore is alive and well shredding some flat picking licks
RIP man. Legendary.
Not the F Shape. but the F in a C shape.
Nice lesson!
Hi, Love your playing 🫶
What model is that Martin your playing on ?
It’s a D18
Hey man, noticed you changed your picking from anchoring pinky to this. Any reason?
I feel a little more freed up with the closed fist. Had a tendency to get super tense with the bracing. Both can be good techniques, at the end of the day it was just personal preference.
@@alexgraf8417 thanks man, I’m in the process of changing to that too. Do you feel more accurate ?
You have a lot of Tony Rice vibe.
Какой темп метронома...?
120 BPM
Lick2 is fire!
