    Hi Vincent. My wife was in NY city last week and went to the Incubator. You were not there. She left $100 US as a contribution on behalf as me and she. Keep up the great work and thanks for what you do.

    Rich's discussion about HPV vaccines would be a great TikTok, especially if you can splice together the whole thing, through him talking about his history of teaching it. Thanks for another great epitope!

    Hello Vincent!!!!! You and your wonderful team have fascinated me ever since early 2014. I love the shows!! Anything can be overcome, and don't ever forget it!!!! Lots of Love, from Sydney New South Wales, where it's currently muggy and cloudy with 18C and 80% humidity. This is "Meh" weather as Alan Dove once said. [I'm still a big fan of the show, and a long time listener too. Many thanks, to all the team there, from nearly at the "furthest reach of the Empire].

    It's 6c/ 43f Overcast and windy in Northern England. TWIV kept me sane throughout the SARS CoV2 pandemic, I was much better off having your podcast to inoculate me against misinformation. Thanks so much! I've been a regular monthly supporter now for a year and is 5£ well spent! Keep up the good work!

      @@siiluviilu - Not going to completely name him. But first name John. At first, during COVID, he was ok but then he went down weird conspiracy channels.

      @@AlbertMark-nb9zo I think Dr Campbell was a lot more honest and reliable than our (the US ) public health team. And I agree he got a little out there as we exited the pandemic. He didn't know when to quit, but I guess that's a hard thing to do when you've been so successful.

    Your comment on Wicked reminded me of when I saw West Side Story and thought that it was not so much impressive that Shakespeare had such understanding of human nature that it could be translated to contemporary times, as that it was sad that humans had changed so little since then.

    My grandmother had cervical cancer. She was one of the few women who survived after her horrible treatment (late 1950's). Something to do with radioactive rods being shoved up there. The doctors were NOT kind back then. She suffered with pelvic scar tissue the rest of her life. I believe it was even located around her intestines too. 😢 I wish she could have been vaccinated.

    At the beginning of the episode you referenced a video in which you talk about why RFK is not suitable for the position of director of DHHS, I can’t find the video and would really like to see it. Can you link it here? Thank you. I also agree he’s not suitable but I’d like your scientific analysis as to why, so I can deliver the science-view to others who think he is.

      I think they are talking about the video under the Paul Offit series. They took snippets of what he said and elaborated on the background.

    This shouldn't be as surprising. After all, RNA viral polymerases have as low as 0.6% sequence identity (~4-5 universally conserved residues in the ~600 residue protein core), yet maintaining strong structure conservation. Some viruses can even invert part of the polymerase and separate the one catalytic unit into two. Many other highly conserved proteins in viruses (e.g. JRC protein, 3C-like proteases, SF2/SF3 helicases, N7/2'O methyltransferases) probably have very low sequence conservation but rather high structural conservations, too.

    As with criticism… I prefer constructive criticism…. if one criticizes a certain cabinet nominee… suggest a nominee you think would be better. Cheers!

    • @AlbertMark-nb9zo
      @AlbertMark-nb9zo 4 дні тому

      Ok. A typical argument is a Generalization. Elaboration. Reference. GER. I prefer multiple references. Fine generalize. But without the rest, you don't have an argument.
      While the "science" has not been communicated the best and can be argued that it wasn't communicated to the public. That isn't what sciences' main function is. I find it more the fault of media, and frankly people being manipulated and their own issues that allow them to accept bad information over good information.
      You only have to look at people being unchallenged like these alternative fact/medicine quack picks and how/why people believe in them.
      Thanks to TWIV for articulating and bringing out the issues.
