The craziest part is that Y.E Yang started learning golf at the age 19 while Tiger Woods participated in his first Masters at the age of 19.

.. and a month later the Goliath of tennis was taken down by Juan Martin del Potro at the US Open (after he'd won FIVE straight Open titles) .. golf and tennis had their respective versions of Tyson-Douglas within weeks of each other 👊

I remember thinking Tiger lost this one on Day 3. The course was there for the taking and he didn't increase his lead big enough. He played not to lose and it bit him in the ass.

I reckon this affected Woods in Majors far more than the personal nonsense later that year - he didn't win another one until 2019 after all.

You might be right..however I feel the opposite..I think this was only a small blemish that he effect him very little..but the scandal on top of this is what really messed him up mentally bc remember he went undefeated in the Presidents cup in the fall so he was still playing great and he won a tourney in Australia as well

      @@DTB1995Hi, thanks for replying.
As you'll know, losing to Yang was the first time Woods didn't win after leading after 3 rounds.
But of course your view may be the truth or more close to it than my hunch, only Woods knows. It's interesting that recently attention seem to has gone to how he changed his body when nonsensically trying to make himself as tough as a Navy SEAL, and many people now think that his many injuries derived from the training that he went through, in his 30s (!) to try to do that.
(Terrible about his crash of course, I was surprised he didn't send a video message at the Masters, but there you go, his choice.)

Also i think that: entering to the 2010's, golf's became more competitive than ever: Tiger Woods was a true eclosion in golf. A game changer who started a revolution in golf. So eventually, we started to see his long term side effects on this game:
Better college training. More competitive amateur tours. Nutrition and fitness finally really matters for the first time on this game.
I guess that we will never see someone so dominant than Tiger. Names like Koepka, McIlroy, Rahm could finish their careers with a good amount of Majors (Mickelson already there). But 15 Majors victories? No way. Golf is different today.

I can understand making this kind of comment if the title was "Y.E. Yang is the greatest ever because he beat Woods" bla bla. But no such claim is being made so just relax - your boy is still great. He just proved he is not infallible even with a lead after 54 holes. It really is extraordinary what happened. And Woods didn't give it away. Yang really earned this with clutch play, a little more clutch than Tiger. To be able to say that even once in your career is very cool, so there's no need to take it away from Yang. He never rubbed it in Tiger's face.
