Im getting 19 extractions this afternoon & immediate dentures. Im scared to death. I have some Ativan that they prescribed but other than that I'm on tylenol & ibuprofen. Scared is an understatement.
@@TRaul7 still can't eat with them properly but I think that's more on me than the teeth. It sucked for about 3 weeks. I think the worse your teeth are the worse the experience is.
I absolutely NEED to have surgery. Around 2010 my teeth were so brittle they began breaking (chewing food & then teeth !). Probably a combination of bad genes & I had been taking Methadone for over 12 yrs. Now I have only 'shards', not teeth. My life is MISERABLE. I've got to have dental surgery to pull out the 'shards', then get dentures. I'm really concerned about 'proper' pain management (yes OPIATES), whether it be for only 2wks or 4. I will not accept Ibuprofen because I know it will be painful. The insurance i'm looking into has a 9 month waiting list !
Terrified plus has a laryngeal spasm during a colonosopy. Bp goes through the roof just on exam and a extremely sensitive gag reflex. What do I do?????
After a wisdom tooth extraction & bone graph surgery last week, I agree! Actually wished my expensive doc shared the same info prior to my surgery! Can you please address the heavy prescribed meds - Oxycodone & Vicodin - and natural pain-relief alternatives? The Oxy did not work for me, so I was then prescribed Vic. Do not want opioid addiction, hence as soon as the pain level decreased (took only one Vic), I stopped.
I am scheduled for flap surgery and tooth extraction in December. I am NOT supposed to eat or drink 8 hours before surgery because I will be under anesthesia. So I'm not sure why you're advising patients to eat before dental surgery.
Hi. I had a bone graph done & wisdom tooth extraction last week Friday. (And another one in future.) So yes, follow your surgeon’s instructions. Listening closely to the Gum Dentist here.. he says to enjoy your solid foods BEFORE that 8-hr mark, & pre-shop for soft foods & liquids for AFTER surgery nutrition. Unless you have someone else shopping & cooking for you, then you’re good. The post pain is real, and I did not feel good at all to grocery shop bcuz under strong meds. Gum dentist is right! Wish my own surgeon warned/instructed me like this video. Be well…
I don’t know why your Dr Dentist, told You that... investigate more because Im78 years old ...in all my work done on my whole mouth, all the time They had been telling Me to have a good Dinner Good Night Sleep and a Very Good Breakfast ..full of protein, fiber and all the nutritional ! Because your body will respond better, will be strong and more calm !
@@chinkikira6992 It's normal protocol for dental surgery under anesthesia to fast 8 to 12 hours before surgery in order to prevent nausea, vomiting, and aspiration. Diabetic patients don't have to follow that protocol, but the surgery still presents challenges for diabetics.
Not all dental surgery requires anesthesia. I've had tooth extractions and dental implants, and in each case my doctor used novocaine. I imagine anesthesia use varies based on the patient and the norms of that particular hospital/clinic.

Maybe sedation would be a good option for you. Ask your dentist if they offer those options.
