Gun buybacks are awesome events for those who know how to play it. In Seattle back around 2010 it turned into an open air bazaar. Tons of people in the alleyways and streets surrounding the venue were buying, selling and trading. There was a big to-do in local media afterwards, making hay about how there were too many “opportunistic” people involved and how it defeats the spirit of the program. I loved it.
Kinda reminds me of here in Oregon. After measure 114 passed which included a magazine ban. The ruger BX-25 mags were sold out in every store from Salem to Roseburg. There was a large boom in firearms sales overall. It’s always funny to see how when the state governments do shit like this it usually results in more guns being in circulation by the end of it.
They supposedly destroy all the guns they buy back, but a lot of cops end up with them in their safes at home. My former brother in law was a deputy, and he told me as much.
The Fact that the Story of the Old Lady who was Told not to Sell the STG 44 in her Possession for $300 and a Wendy's coupon and Instead helped her Offloaded to a Reputable Collector for what the Gun was actually worth is the Exception and not the Rule.
We had one in Dallas about 10-15 years ago and it was awesome. People turned in electrical conduit attached to wood stocks and got $100. No one in the buying group had any idea what they were looking at.
That is because the buying group is as good at identifying a gun as the ATF. These no question buybacks are a waste of tax dollars. Every time they have them people go out and buy pipe and wood to make a few simple shotguns to trade for a quick and easy couple hundred bucks with absolutely no questions asked. Criminals aren't going to give up being a criminal for a $200 gift card.
@@stevecole90099 I didnt know the purpose of these buybacks was to stop criminals from being criminals. I thought it was to get as many guns off the street as possible, in an easy way.
I was a "participant" in the Seattle gun buyback about a decade ago. Paid $800 for 6 firearms including a WWI Enfield and an M1 Garand that saw combat and had matching serial numbers. *To add more to the story* - I was also the one who discovered the "anti-aircraft missile" and tried to keep the guy from turning it in. It was a training tube and the idiot thought it was a "bazooka". I told him I wanted to buy it simply so it wouldn't end up in the papers as a story about getting an anti-aircraft missile "off the streets". He wanted some insane amount of money for it. I declined. He tried to turn it in and the tube was confiscated and he was temporarily detained.
Damn nice find I highly respect your effort to save such nice historical collectors pieces whoever carried those rifles back in the must be proud to know they weren't destroyed by tyrants.
People can learn from this. The first cop and Brandons exchange was so peaceful and calm with all those weapons around it should be in a training video. Some law and citizens should take notes. Much respect from Orlando Brandon&Crew.
yeah dude. like that sks, off to be destroyed. i can't BELIEVE people would rather get less money from the people at the buy back then brandon or the other people.. not to mention that they wont be DESTROYED if they bought from them. I mean, would you rather want more money and have your gun be in good hands or get less money knowing that gun will see the scrap yard?
Have you heard of the case from Hartford Connecticut where a woman tried to turn in her father’s StG-44 he brought back from WWII? Luckily the police recognized it and saved it from the crusher.
i've done it before, most of the time for people that own guns if it's not politically motivated it's either to dump something that's worthless or damaged beyond repair, like the one guy Brandon talked to said "i'm just here to get rid of junk"

We stopped a lady from giving away her dead husband's antique Colts and hooked her up with a shop which gave her top dollar. Glad I came across your video. Reminded me of our gun buyback here in Australia some 30yrs ago. We just had the biggest massacre and the government implemented a buy back where we just went to our local police station and got paid more for our guns than we actually paid for them new. It was such a weird experience walking into a police station with shotguns and all the police were calm. I only handed 1 shotgun in (Mossberg 500) and kept a few rifles I had. There was no real register etc at the time so they was no way of tracking who had them so I wasn't going to give those ones up. The only thing was that the law was changed at that time so if you ever got caught with them down the track you would be in serious trouble. Over the years they have gun amnesty's where you can hand any guns in you still have with no questions asked. Every since then only the criminals had guns and still do.
That poor SKS!!! Seeing all these Shelter Guns put down like that breaks my heart. Let's hope all the ones that didn't make it to the Buyback find a warm and happy home this Christmas!

Forensic ballistics are usually just a small component of a larger evidence profile, but a criminal having the murder weapon will never lead to them being convicted, it only establishes them as a suspect. There has never been a single case where a gun was able to match to a crime scene independent of any other evidence. Let's be fair, they didn't say they didn't want guns sales on their property, they didn't want Brandon (and presumably other private buyers) buying guns on their property; which is 100% within their rights. I only comment to say that let's make sure we are being accurate and fair in our criticisms of these brain-dead idiots who thing that this actually does anything to stop/slow gun violence. I loved it.
as a response the state, under the guise of "universal background checks", banned private sales.... or as some see it: free trade.
Kinda reminds me of here in Oregon. After measure 114 passed which included a magazine ban. The ruger BX-25 mags were sold out in every store from Salem to Roseburg. There was a large boom in firearms sales overall.

They limited the guns to 10 per person, so he would have my brother and uncles turn them in at $50 each. He pretty much single handedly crashed the program's budget.
That’s awesome! I saw a video of a couple guys that made fake 3D printed lower receivers and made a lot of money lol
How to I find out the nearest area and tines ppl do buy backs?

Donate them to a local gun club so they can hold a gun raffle. OR start your own "gun sell back" program 😊
Yeah, this is what I was thinking as I watched: how successful would the civilian-run, well-advertised "gun buyback" program be?
Why sell them back to the community for 3x, 4x the price? That also hurts the community due to greed. Stick to a raffle or something else.
the cop in the beginning was so chill, he really let you finish that. you wouldn't see that happening anywhere else imo
yeah and the handshake capped it off, good dude.
Not really, he knowingly kicked him off public property when he hadn't broken any laws. Alamodome is owned by the city. It's not private property.

Gun buy backs are great. We had one here in NZ, sure it was all the law abiding people handing their guns back, sure gun violence is increasing at record rates ever since, sure gang violence is at an all time high, sure we dont have a great way to protect ourselves anymore, sure.... I forgot where I was going with this. But yeah, Gun buy backs are great

@@jormungand72 Legit, it doesn't even have to function in most cases. You can just bring a vaguely gun-shaped object to a gun buyback and like 80% of the time they'll take it; It's cause they have no idea how a firearm actually works, they just know what one looks like.

Here in Arizona, we have a law that prevents cities from hosting gun "buybacks". They can buy guns, but then they are required to resell them at public auction!

We had a gun buyback here in Omaha NE and someone turned over a fullauto MP40 a couple months ago. The guns I saw on that table broke my heart. Also Brandon should petition to hold those in charge of the buy back accountable, especially since they are on record openly stating it was pointless, but still shelled out loads of tax payer money that couldve gone miles more in other areas.

IT'S OKAY WHEN WE DO IT!
-These organizers
Not two brain cells to rub together between the lot of them. They can't even be dishonest intelligently.
Bolsheviks is what they are
Let's be fair, they didn't say they didn't want guns sales on their property, they didn't want Brandon (and presumably other private buyers) buying guns on their property; which is 100% within their rights. Ultimately, it is clearly the organizers/owners just pulling a power move because they didn't like someone making them and their buy back look bad and I applaud Brandon for doing it (as well as all the others that I'm sure did the same sort of thing). I only comment to say that let's make sure we are being accurate and fair in our criticisms of these brain-dead idiots who thing that this actually does anything to stop/slow gun violence. They give plenty of opportunity to laugh at what they actually say/do without us having to mis-characterize.
Law enforcement can't "buyback" something they didn't pay for in the first place. It should be called voluntary confiscation of legally owned weapons.
