  • When you discover an amazing rock and when that rock is cut open to reveal it inner beauty, the feeling of pure joy you can experience is equal to that of finding a gold nugget, and the rock can be extremely valuable too. Our videos offer you this experience as we constantly find new and beautiful and valuable rocks.
This video from Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada, shows how we collected some of Vancouver Islands' Gemstone material known as Dallasite. It occurs between pillows in Pillow Basalts, formed on the bottom of an ocean some 220 million years ago!
Most people collect Dallasite along beaches and creeks and rivers. We were lucky enough to discover a big deposit of the gemstone in the mountains at its source. We are able to collect big pieces and this gives so much more choice of material for making jewelry.
In 1985, Dallasite was said to be British Columbia's 3rd most important gemstone. It is a beautiful breccia consisting of various shades of green, black, and white.
We hope you enjoy sharing this incredible experience with us and learn how Dallasite forms and what can be made with it.

Hello again and thanks so much for watching and commenting! We are lucky that our work takes us to some untouched exposures - it has been quite amazing really. We are hoping Pauly can come out to this site too.

Hello again! Thanks for watching and commenting. It is really exciting to find the Dallasite at its source. We are not sure yet how much could be there. There may never be big enough pieces to make tables out of, but fingers crossed!

Very nice find! Is Dallasite straight from the source less fractured than what you would find after it’s bounced down a River? The slabs I cut always break when working with it 😑

Hi Chris - thanks for your comment! Yes, this material is less fractured I believe. It is also larger so one can pick and choose better pieces and get better quality.

Hello and yes, we did 2 videos with Dan - one on Dallasite and another at our rhodonite claim. He put his out within a month of filming and we are still working on our two videos with him. It takes us a bit longer!
