- A delicate - and improbable -- love story about three gentle and shy souls. Snehamoy, a school teacher in the beautiful Sunderbans, writes letters to Miyage, a sweet, shy Japanese girl in Yokohama. Over these letters, they fall in love and get married, despite having never met. Sandhya, a widow, takes refuge in Snehamoy’s home and is soon always by Snehamoy’s side, bringing a piquant twist to this home in the Sundarbans and the love between Snehamoy and Miyage. Will Sandhya find her solace with Snehamoy? Or will life finally unite Snehamoy and Miyage.

I was deeply moved by everything. The LOVE , the distance, culture differences, language barriers, the scenery of the shootings, the whole movie. It was beyond words. LOVE exist....yes it does...& it still can conquer every barrier.

Such an emotional movie!
Every character in the movie has a kind heart. Loved the empathy of his aunt who raise his nephew as his own son and taking her goddaughter n son under her wings. The love relationship between him and miyagi is so pure. The Ending definitely made me teary 😭
The beautiful scenery of both countries. The culture, so enchanting. I am glad I saw this movie again today. I watched it before and loved it. It's so beautiful to watch two people love one another despite the differences in culture. Love is a many splendored thing, isn't it?

The most touching love story I have ever seen. I can't help crying. Snehamoy and Miyage are so humble with pure angel souls and great loving hearts.
Such an AMAZING and TOUCHING movie. I watched it not knowing what to expect, but I was NOT disappointed. It made me smile, and it made me CRY. I had not realized that Miyage had shaved her hair in a display of her love and devotion to Snehamoy as I mistakenly thought her lack of hair was an after effect of the chemotherapy. It has been more than three hours since I finished the movie, but even reading the comments below have brought back tears to my eyes. A movie I will NOT SOON FORGET!
The meaning of trusting your love throughout the years in ups and downs is magnificently portrayed in this movie. The acting is perfect and the story is really touching.

Just watched it tonight. Reminded me of the purity of love and simple people. I taught at a Japanese school and knew many Miyage girls. I was once in love at 19 to a Japanese boy. This feel forty years later brought me to that innocence.

I could not hold on and come to write something, I got goosebumps watching every seconds of the movie, every seconds of 1hr and 40 seconds were worthy. While I have lived the movie myself I felt the character Sneha(Rahul). Also Pureness and strength of their love. I must admit it is one of the best movies I ever watched.

Wow! What a powerful ending! This movie was so pure and graceful. When Miyage arrived at the house in the white saree without borders, with her head shaved and a white bangle on each arm, I have to admit she had me raining tears. Also, you will notice in that scene that Sandhya switched back to wearing a white saree without borders as well. Just an incredible movie that was so harmonious & genuine. Well done to everyone connected to the film!

Actually I didn't understand she shaved head because of Cancer or her love for her husband, I guess thats up to us to think about.

Really touched my heart... Beautiful movie by one of the best directors of India, with delicate treatment of the script.. Miyage's voice and her way of speaking English is so soothing... As soothing as the natural beauty of Sundarban.. Love is so powerful... In all its forms...
I'm a VietNamese n my love is an Indian. We met n loved each other very much. Our love overcome the distance. But later, we know, we cannot move ahead bcz parents didnt allow. We hurt infinity n this led me to this film. I cried, cannot stop at the end of film. Touching my heart ❤️

As soon as I saw Miyage wearing a white saree and shaved head , I just started crying automatically, remembering how Snehamoy had said some widows shave their heads to show their devotion towards their husband..

meghna talukdar Well they don't actually shave head in old times.... They used to have boys cut and she used chemo therapy for cancer so she had to shave her head because you go bald when using chemo for cancer treatment
