Radial deadzone is a circle in the center of the x and y axes. Axial results in two line-based deadzones along the x and y axis instead of only in the "middle." This results in easier head-level sweeps. Radial can be good to reduce diagonal drift that falls outside the central + of an axial deadzone otherwise just stick with axial.
@@anthonyh2540 Mine is Sensitivity: 5-5-5 (Acceleration-Horizontal-Vertical) Move: 0-15-3 (Center - Max - Axial) Look: 0-0-3 (Center-Max-Axial) If you copy mine Axial is all you need to mess with, just set it as low as you can without stick drift.
@@darkaero the problem with this is that the axial deadzone creates a square shaped center deadzone, meaning your diagonals will need to be pushed further from the center before input is registered compared to the cardinal directions. This also makes the acceleration curve shorter on the diagonals, meaning the the point at which the acceleration jumps will not be uniform. In theory, it is beneficial to have both deadzones set to the same value.
@@SW4MPMONST3R exactly the problem i come to when trying have a low effective deadzone while still retaining a decent amount of axial deadzone size for straight grenades and clean sweeps.
I must be miss reading others here. I find axial deadzone widens the vertical and horizontal deadzones. So diagonal adjustments are stronger per adjustment. You need consistency on your thumb sticks… so weird you guys use it!
Great explanation on the deadzones! I know so little about controller settings, I had no idea those existed tbh. Hopefully some minor tweaking can sneak me from Diamond 2 up to Onyx

Max input thresh is basically outer deadzone. It’s there to allow you to remove ‘slow turn’… I have both set to 1.0. Why? Because I use the strafe to aim… specially for sniping and noscopes. It also sucks trying to hide on a ledge or behind a wall and you can’t make a small adjustment to your position. Axial deadzone is bad IMO. I want to draw a circle, when I draw a circle.
Try '0' Center Deadzone and use the Axial Deadzone to compensate for any controller drift. I have my settings set to: Center: 0 Max Input: 5 (To prevent slow turning diagonal movement) Axial: 3 (Usually at 0.10 in Warzone) Accel: 5 Adjust sensitivity to your preference from here Feels just like Halo 3 in my opinion. am i the only one who remembers the good ole days.. everyone playin basically on same settings, same junk controllers, modded controllers were banned, didnt worry about all these dial settings in..just straight skill won the games. only thing u worried about were lag switchers, super jumps and ur internet connection lol
I like that you can dial it in, everyone has different tendencies when using a controller. Fine tuning gives everyone the ability to perfect their aim so that the game IS more focused on gaming skill and not mechanical advantage becasue the aiming is tuned to your liking. Imo, they need to make it so we can control the Accel Curve. For me I like to make tiny adjustments to the stick to make precise flicks and crosshair adjustments. The current Accel Curve is so bad, I play closer to a linear curve and the current is more like an exponential curve. I refuse to play Halo because of it and I refuse to relearn a new aiming curve that is so different from other games that it would mess my aiming in those games.
what i'd like is info on settings for Halo:Infinite campaign,I'm only intested in playing the campaign for now but i cannot find specific info on settings for playing the campaign....can you help, i just wanna know where to find it...thanx
I really hope the 343 adds a larger sensitivity range. It's impossible to play this game in close quarters where you die because your player can't rotate fast enough. But I love Halo. Only 1 Complaint for the whole game not bad.
Set Max input threshold to 0 it allows your brain to make better judgements of how far your aim will move when you hit the stick. Basically if it’s set to 15 when you reach 85% of the sticks edge you will hit max speed if it’s 0 it’s 99% personally I’ve found it’s allowed me to better perceive and judge the speed of my reticle than when I had it at 15.
I use an old Elite version 1 and it’s been great for the past five years. Whenever my stick mechanisms get worn out I send it to Battle Beaver Customs. I don’t know if they still work on Elite v1 so if not I’ll use my BBC controller. I’m able to fix bumpers myself due to watching your tutorial. Thanks bro. 👍🏽✌🏽
Love this video - will certainly make changes. I just bought the elite series 2 controller so I have to take in consideration the hardware and software adjustments you can make with the ES2 controller. I’ve been making adjustments over the last month - hopefully with this vid I can finally feel comfortable finalizing the setup.
Highly recommend the official scuf paddles made for the elite V2, way better than the ones supplied with it. Also recommend using the back to map all face buttons a,b,x,y, so you never have to take your thumb from the either stick and don't have to use bumper jumper.
Similar settings for me I have 4 sensitivity and acceleration and 5% deadzones and 5 max input threshhold across the board on my standard beat up xbox one controller. May change move stick to 15 max threshold but I like to slow strafe and crouch to confuse people at times.
i should lower the weapon offset but i've been enjoying a H3-esque offset to see more of th weapon and the buttstock: far left, a little up, and fully forward. so i think it's -100, +25/50, and +100. i try to not raise it vertically too much but i like seeing the little warning sign on the buttstock of the BR. power weapons i lower all the way but still do +100 on depth to see more of them
What controller would you guys recommend using? I’m using a default Xbox one atm I’ve attempted to use my scuf but for some reason it doesn’t register when I click in on the right stick so I can’t aim in and I also can’t use the right trigger for charging weapons because of the trigger pins? I was hoping I could get a controller with a better feeling than the default some panels and maybe a little bit of a trigger pin but not enough to stop me being able to charge my weapons
is the Aim assist stronger on xbox + controller or PC + controller??? any proof or links to support would be appreciated? Just asking because normally on apex aim assist is strong on Xbox + controller when compared to PC + controller. thank you
Thank you so much for including the weapon offset! I don’t think any pro has mentioned that in their settings and it looks so much better than the default settings.
Instead of ruining deadzones for all other steam games just go into the steam properties of Infinite and you can just turn steam input off all together for individual games.
On console this game is a nightmare with the controller settings. I feel like it's not consistent at all and I end up aiming just ALL over the place. Advice?
I wish respawn let you adjust the Response Curve. 50% controller deflection for like 10% actual input is ridiculous and so is 60% deflection jumping up to 50% actual input. Games like Apex Legends let you control that, it should be an FPS standard.
i think the elite controllers have this customizability in the xbox accessories app. i've been wanting to mess with it and try different curves but i'm trying to get used to the in game settings first and i'm not even sure what type of curve would be best for me
Yeeeessss, finally someone who gets max input threshold. Good vid. Also, you *can* choose to completely disable steam controller input altogether. That'll let the game control everything and ignores all steam-based deadzone settings etc.
Oh that's really cool, I didn't know about that regarding disabling the steam controller input. Thank you! And thanks too regarding max input threshold!
