Tae Kwon-Do Test: October 3, 2010. Janel, Colin, Andy, and Khoa (white belt) performing the pattern Chon Ji at Duc Dang Tae Kwon-Do/Hwa Rang Kwan Martial Arts Academy
Nice job :) This should be shown to the owners of all those McDojos who pass white belts who can do little more than flop around like fish in white pajamas. Proof that young kids can look just as sharp as adults.
Lordof theMonkeys I so agree with you. 20yrs ago if you're not executing good form and snap you will never pass a promotion test. Nowadays kids who you accurately described as flapping all over the place get promoted easily. Quite disappointing.
+DARLENE PERRIELLO Probably the only reason I would is because I just started and there are little kids who are younger than me who are like blue belt xD.
Dang, these kids got rythem, speed, and power. Their form could use some work, but barely noticeable. It is so relieving to watch this after seeing so many videos of four year old black belts who can't kick withought tripping themselves. Good work guys, you are the reason taekwondo lives.
Kim's TaeKwonDo student here. I have an instructor who has been doing taekwondo for 35 years. Every two months at testing, he tells us every time, to never give up. My brother and I have been constantly trying our best like these these young children.
i learned tae kwon do in prison from a man named Kim. kim was a 7th degree black belt. he made me learn forms and kicks. we practiced 6 hours a day for 6 months. i never thought i would been able to do splits but i did and my kicks got better and higher and stronger and more acurate. i learned to fully pivot on back foot like koreans . i practiced every day after i got transferred to another unit. i practiced alone for about 5 years. ive had a couple of fights after i got out and its so much different than before. i watch their every move like its slow motion and i react like 4 times faster without even trying. i usually go for a low knee shot straight into a show down or something that throws anybody off. once i thought what if i used my arms and hands and do a kick off with both feet from the ground but i wanted him to hunch over so i could get my hands under his rib bones and so i walked up to him and pretended to go for his feet and he hunched over and i raised up my arms to hit him in the chest and at the same time i sprang up with both legs and sprang my arms too and the poor guy flew in the air and landed on his back and his friends standing next to him had to turn around to watch him land and then i squared up with them and they were all surprised and then the bouncers kicked us out of the bar and those dudes just left.
I'm grading for my yellow bet in five days Edit: hey this is three years later!! 🤯 obviously I did something right as I am now a blue belt grading for red tag next month!! 😁
tikea p I just started jiu-jitsu. It's kind of interesting because there really isn't a beginner's class or anything. You just kind of go, drill maybe 2 techniques, or two variations of the same technique, then you just free grapple. Never done martial arts before, but if you out your mind to it, you can do well. I can't kick to save my life, so I'd probably not do Tai kwondo (maybe in the future) but I've always liked grappling. Actually did decent when I was rolling with a two stripe white belt the other day. The guy must have at least around 4-6 months of training, but I had watched a ton of videos to learn some techniques before I went, so I wouldn't be completely lost.
These kids are better than most of the higher rank belts been training since early 1970 and the quality of tar kwan do has gone down hill. Hats off to the instructors thanks for making Korean stylist look good.
Agreed his standard is high and the students work really hard. I was one of the white guys that used to train with Master Dang Huy Duc back when he was on Bolsa Avenue. Corrrect me if I'm wrong but I remember he teaches Tae Kwon Do / Hwa Rang Kwan and Vietnamese Kung Fu in upper levels. His instruction is outstanding and his art is very effective IMO. He is a great guy and has my respect.
these kids are amazing, but why are they doing chon-ji at a white belt grading? when i graded at white belt i only had to do saju jirugi, i did chon-ji at my yellow stripe grading
Simon Yu Well, since this is a Vietnamese class, and other classes in general, I think it probably varies in which forms white belts do. My white belt combo didn't look exactly like this either. And btw you can't say something is fake when its obviously a real thing..
+Simon Yu This is not fake. It is just a different type taekwondo they train. You might train in WTF (World Taekwondo Federation) or UTA (United Taekwondo Alliance) but this is Chung-ji Form as far as I can tell.
I am taking Tae Kwan Do, for my units tword my associates degree in nursing. I'm enjoying the class very much. Master McGhee our instructor is very knowledgeable in the arts and, he has been a very useful tool in the instruction of the art of Tae Kwan Do as well as self defense. He is very passionate about his education of his student. We have only 8 more weeks to go but it has een an honor to be one of his student. My wish is that I am able to retain the skills I am learning.
@@DragonFan69 if you don't want to be hurt i recommend you training WTF taekwondo (the one in the video is ITF) because in ITF you don't have any protection and in WTF you cover literally your whole body with protection
I used to do this when I was in Oz and it's definitely helped me in loads of ways o got to brown belt black tip. I'm still gutted I didn't carry it on awesome sport
At jiu jitsu we earn stripes on our belt, when we get four, we have grading day and u have to try and use quick moves that are effective and know how to do them or you stay white held
My Grandmaster was born in Korea and moved to the states in the '60s. He started Grandmaster Dong's Martial Arts in 1971. It is one of the oldest schools in the country.
Sara Beth Cox Its rare that you'd fail. You'll be trained so I wouldn't worry to much. The only thing Id be worried about is that if your all tired and you feel like crap
The instructors let you know when they think you're ready to test. If you're not ready but want to test, they'll recommend you wait. I've never seen anyone not pass though even when I've been stunned because they were soooo bad. Testing is nerve-wracking. I wanted to throw up the first two times. You get confident in yourself after awhile though so the nerves aren't as bad. The last time I tested I was very pregnant and I was a bundle of nerves then because I had trouble remembering day-to-day things (preggers crap) and I'd get dizzy so easily. Even then I passed though and did pretty well. Didn't forget anything and didn't fall over. ;) hehe
punches were to high on chon ji, stances a tad bit weak, but otherwise okay. the kicks at the end were flat footed, and i dont know if that was supposed to be a roundkick or a sidekick but it was bad, you would break your toes if you kicked someone like that. I know I'm being way to critical because these are white belts but I have a red-black belt and I'm try to practice my teaching skills for blackbelt. But these are some really good whitebelts
Benjamin Ahern Wait, what?! I was told by a friend that it takes around 2+ years to get a red-black belt from white belt?? (I'm currently yellow-green btw)
Benjamin Ahern Good job on your red-black belt and just by your comments on the kids you may well be on your way to becoming a good instructor. I wish you all the best and hope to see you get that black belt soon.
Keara Adara My instructer HATES this question. NEVER ask how long it will take to get your belts. If you stay dedicated and come every day and practice hard they WILL come. But if you're just doing martial arts to 'get' a black belt then you should reconsider. But there are a LOT of schools out there that preach about how soon you can "become a black belt" to keep you coming and keep you paying them. Make sure you can tell if your school is really going to make you earn your belts, if theyre telling you you'll be a black belt in 2 years i would cut it off right there.
This is the HARDEST looking test I've ever seen before in my life! The way they do keicho like that, pooping their shirts, it's so amazing, but I already got past the white belt test, next is my yellow belt test.
This brought back so many memories. I took Tae Kwon Do from the time that I was 7 until I was 11. I've since become an armchair athlete and have forgotten everything. At least until now. I about flipped my lid at 1:29, though. When I was born, there were already a few family members with the name James, so everybody just calls me Andy which is short for Andrew - my middle name.
rly, i live in oklahoma and their form isnt anything like mine. I see now that they have a different style of TKD, ok? And their is NO difference between a kid and or an adult.
The form is the first one in ITF Taekwondo, chon ji. Though yes, they did it too fast, their stances were incorrect (instead of a walking stance it was more like a lunging stance, in the L-stance the backfoot and back knee was incorrectly positioned and so on). Still, it was a good performance for kids, as most kids struggle with basic motor skills due to growing up.
I love this. I had red belt(1), but discontinued. This is really good if you learn as an art. But in real life scenarios this don't work all of the time.
I think they are doing some different form of Poomsae, not part of WTF. That’s not yellow belt..... yellow belt will be taeguek il jang. And yes... they look good. But wayyy too fast... i would like to know what form of poomsae they are doing.
That's not a poomsae. That' s Chon-Ji , the first pattern (tul) from General Choi Hong Hi's Chang Hon style which until his death had been solely under the ITF banner. As for quality of execution; well for starters they are children and it's for earning the yellow belt so they have yet to understand things like poise, balance, rythm and control; and their body to grow enough to master those. And the way they perform is in a style much older than the one I myself learned when I started 47 years ago. Still, they show what matters most; effort, dedication and willingness to learn more. That's what grading tests are for; not to ask ''are you good?'' but to ask ''are you willing and able to work more?''
I have a friend that goes to TKD with me and he had his cousin who’s a 9 y/o boy who is a black belt but only been training for 6 months (2-3 times per week) while I’m a yellow belt that’s been training for approximately 2 years (2 times per week)
Ben F might as well carry a freaking .44 magnum for defense....heck you can even take down a freaking grisly bear if you shoot at the right place.......ALL martial arts teach in America is USELESS because they don’t condition their bodies......just techniques, forms and pussy sparring.....unless you can handle pain, whatever martial arts and or belt you are wearing will be all useless when it come to a REAL fight.....
I'm starting in a new Dojo tomorrow for lunch. This dojo also teaches Brazilian Jujitsu which I'm looking forward to. I've trained in Taekwondo, ShaoLin and ShotoKan, I wonder if they're gonna offer me some kind of "Test-in" . I understand all dojos live eat and breath their own unique techniques, and I'm not opposed to that standard... Am I bad for not wanting to rock a naked white belt for 8 weeks and brush up on the elementary basics?
@trumpetplayer231 im sorry. i take karate so i dont understand this. u get a white belt when u start. then u take the white belt test to get the yellow belt. is it like that the whole way? like u have a blue belt, then you take the blue belt test?
Our system is: White, Yellow, Orange, Green, Purple, Blue, Brown, Red, Black Tip (red w/ black stripe), Bo Dan (white w/ black stripe), and then Black. And if you post that then I would definitley watch it. I would be very interested to see what kind of forms you learn.
Great test guys. Kids this age can really struggle with their stances. The 'StancsSetter' mini is great for home practice. Great stances without the need for constant corrections.
Rosette Cristina Corral white belt is very basic. You learn basic kicks and punches, basic kick combinations, and the form done here. Many more techniques, combinations, sparring, and more complex forms come later.
what’s the point of kicking if you don’t keep you’re hands up, if you’re fighting someone and you try to kick and not keep you’re hand up they can punch you way easier
There is no white belt test, the 1st kyu or rank test is yellow belt or green depending on school, some schools use a 10 belt system to maintain interest and momentum, otheres 5 with tips ... green, then green with tip, orange, orange with tip etc... Japanese traditional, 5 thsts it ranks take a long time, white, green, blue, brown, red , black some skip red, because red is the final ascent in traditional Japanese arts, Aikido Judo, Shotokan, etc...
Oh MAN! These kids are younger than me and PERFECTED this! Then again, I only had four of the 8 weeks we should have had since we started in January. I'm surprised I got a black stripe and a best testing medal.
This is so amazing they are just white belt and their like black. I do karate and I'm a orange tag I've completed White belt. Red belt Yellow belt Now I'm a orange tag It goes white red yellow orange tag orange belt green tag green belt blue tag blue belt purple tag purple belt brown tag brown belt black tag black belt in my karate team I don't run it.

thats why wtf sucks
To get a white belt to this standard, they must have awesome instructors. Great Job..
Nothing but forms/poomse. They will not protect you. At the very least do shadowboxing.
Benedict Feser well in white belt that's what they teach you by later you learn more
Ben F might as well carry a freaking .44 magnum for defense....heck you can even take down a freaking grisly bear if you shoot at the right place.......ALL martial arts teach in America is USELESS because they don’t condition their bodies......just techniques, forms and pussy sparring.....unless you can handle pain, whatever martial arts and or belt you are wearing will be all useless when it come to a REAL fight.....
they do sparring after
I'm a blue belt in Shotokan Karate and I'm very surprised of so much talent in the white belts of this taekwondo Dojo major respects
Sorry I have to correct dojo is Japanese it is called a dojang also glad you don't hate it today was my first lesson
Just had the test today Honastly enjoyed it so much
will i still get yellow belt when i make like 3 mistakes?
These white belts are better than half the people on my academy well done to them.
Im going on a promotion test next week
Wish me luck
Poke Sushi yup me tooo good luck
I started when I was 5. I’m 11 and a black tag. Is that good?

@@toruoikawa2576 ?
I'm testing today. I need to know Chun Ji for today. I can't wait to get my next belt. These kids are awesome!
Today is my white belt grading I am so excited
Why are their white belt formations and kicks different from ours?
we never did that second pattern for my white belt test. the first one we did but i have no idea what that second one was.
Which country is this in my country mepal there are different patterns (poamse)??
Great test guys. Kids this age can really struggle with their stances. The 'StancsSetter' mini is great for home practice. Great stances without the need for constant corrections.
Excellent testing of White belt thanks for sharing
Oh man!!! This takes me back!! :D
The Poomsae is so different from what I learned but I'm studying under WTF so this could be ITF? Any ideas?
Is that the only requirements for the white belt???
Rosette Cristina Corral white belt is very basic. You learn basic kicks and punches, basic kick combinations, and the form done here. Many more techniques, combinations, sparring, and more complex forms come later.
These are very talented children. They show power and sell esteem.
what’s the point of kicking if you don’t keep you’re hands up, if you’re fighting someone and you try to kick and not keep you’re hand up they can punch you way easier
I’m doing green belt testing in 2 weeks for now the class is pre testing
I swear Chunji is for yellow tags. I did four directional punching when I was grading from white belt lol.
@trumpetplayer231 so u do the white belt test to earn your yellow?
Which country taekwondo is this ??
Chon ji in white belt ?
I am from Nepal and Chon ji pattern is in yellow belt
I take classes. I am a white belt. I have three stipes: yellow, blue, and red! (I just got the red stripe today!)
Does it show the pattern because I'm a white belt who doesn't know his pattern?
Very cute AND very cool. Those little ones did an awesome Chon Ji
Hey dude your not the only one. I freak out when I am watched by even like six people. XD
Oh MAN! These kids are younger than me and PERFECTED this! Then again, I only had four of the 8 weeks we should have had since we started in January. I'm surprised I got a black stripe and a best testing medal.
This is so amazing they are just white belt and their like black. I do karate and I'm a orange tag I've completed
White belt.
Red belt
Yellow belt
Now I'm a orange tag
It goes white red yellow orange tag orange belt green tag green belt blue tag blue belt purple tag purple belt brown tag brown belt black tag black belt in my karate team I don't run it.
In Asia in that skill is still white belt ,in Western in that skilll is black belt already, that white belt is another level.😅
does all the white belt test have a lot of people?
Anyone know what form they are doing?
I started at 6 years old im 35 now . I trained and study 5 different arts today in 2020
How do they know the belt there earning?!
Kaha hai academy batana mein bhi aayogi
Do you guys take 12 weeks to train like ATA?
