Unbelievable that this studio version is available. What a gem. Wish there were more of these studio recordings that never made it to an album. The live version of this particular song is also spectaculair! Thank soo much for sharing. Hope you have more!
@@michaelgould9577 I mis spoke....the concert was 1978 and it was indoors. Very exciting as we were in the second row. Unfortunately, it was evident that Neil was not feeling well but managed to put on one hell of a concert. It was about my 10th of 34 concerts over the years beginning in 1971. In 1976, when you first saw him, I had seen him about 6 weeks before he toured Australia. He did 6 "warm up" concerts in the US and I was fortunate enough to see him in Salt Lake City, Utah. It marked the first live performances of Jonathan Livingston Seagull, Serenade and Beautiful Noise.
And The Everly Brothers's Let it be Me, and Elton John's (Lesley Duncan songwriter) Love Song, and Free Man in Paris (Joni Mitchell) and, of course, He Ain't Heavy (The Hollies) - not too much this incrediblean can not do, well!! What a gift!!!
Thanks for uploading this Steve, What an unusual arrangement compared to the original by Bob Dylan ! I must say, as you listen to it more, it grows on you. Well, Neil Diamond we know is a real diamond don't we? Thanks again. David M
@@Athensdiamond my problem with your reply is that I truly believe no one will ever sound better than Neil singing his songs but he on the other hand makes every cover that he does superb….and in my opinion often better !!!
Believe it or not, Bob Dylan also had a long-unreleased version of "Sweet Caroline". It was finally released in 2021 in a 5-CD set called "Springtime in New York: The Bootleg Series. Vol. 16 (1980-1985)". But either no one has ever uploaded it to UA-cam, or it has been uploaded but got taken down on a copyright claim.
Approx 1977. This was supposed to be on a two-record set called “The American Popular Song” but the album was scrapped and repackaged as “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers” featuring the duet with Barbra Streisand. A few of the other songs meant for the original two record set appeared on the Flowers album and a few more later showed up on the “September Morn” album but a few never got released. This was one of the lost tracks.
. . . 1978 to be correct . In 1977 he released his ' I'm Glad Your Here With Me Tonight ' album on 8th December here in the U.K. The glowing., nay ' diamond- bright ' review by Ray Coleman in the 'MELODY MAKER' , described that whole album as ' Diamond Of Dreams '. A very special album and time in my , then , young (17 years) life .

Hi Mary I first saw Neil in 76 in Perth Australia. Was your concert indoors or outdoors? Was it your first Diamond concert?

Some songs Neil was born to sing-God Only Knows, Moon River, and this one. What a beautiful rendition! 💞

@@karenmcdunn3852 Love his cover of Lay Lady Lay. Mr Bojangles comes to mind as well. Of course, I think his Movie Album and Dreams are terrific.

Check out the “live” version a cleaner sound and even better!
I love Bob Dylan’s original but, Neil Diamond sang it better. I love his voice!
Nobody sings Dylan like Dylan!
Do you have brothers love traveling salvation show live in 1996?
Does anyone know what year this was?
