Great video! I can relate completely to #1. As a new creator it can be hard sometimes to not be yourself on camera. Not because you’re trying be different, but you have to get comfortable talking to a camera. It gets easier over time, but the only way to get better is to keep going.
Following someone’s journey towards something usually keeps me engaged, like a journey of buying a new house or having a baby. Then from there I’ll watch their vlog videos of doing normal everyday stuff with some kinda tips of cleaning, cooking or success.
Thank you for not only explaining but showing by example. It was such an eye-opener to see how different your examples were from the before and after you implemented your tips. I hope to someday be able to produce vlogs like these, too!
These points are so awesome! I really appreciate the Skillshare course rec. There are so many courses there of variable quality that having someone recommend some is super helpful!
I really enjoyed your video! It was informative and engaging, and you did a great job of explaining the three mistakes that can hold back vlogs from getting views. I especially liked how you used examples from your own experience to illustrate your points.
I'm curious, when it comes to building suspense in Vlogs, what's your favorite technique or example from your own experience that keeps viewers hooked and eager to watch more? 🎥🤔
I can't tell you how much I loved and enjoyed this vlog!!! You managed to keep this both entertaining AND informative at the same time! Your examples are so helpful - thank you for truly explaining strategies in a way that we, your viewers, can understand. I'm a former teacher who loved doing "Show & Tell" when I taught at the elementary school level and I try very hard to incorporate this into my vlogs. My subject is my one-eyed rescue dog so she's the "show" and I'm the "tell" but I've just learned a few more tips and tricks to make our weekly vlogs more enjoyable thanks to you! 😊 So glad you got to go to Utah! The mountains are beautiful! ⛰
Needed to see this! I have a tech channel and a separate vlogging channel. This inspired me to keep that vlog channel going. (Totally used your link as well!)🎉
Phew! I was feeling so down and stuck today editing my latest vlog and struggling with the exact things you shared in this video! Thank you for showing us these examples...it is so helpful!
All of these tips were super helpful, Katie!! I’m super guilty of a lot of these mistakes for vlogging 😅 people make it seem so easy, but it’s actually much more difficult lol
Thanks Katie! As a new youtuber, your videos are very helpfull and also entretaining. This video specially really helped me with what i'm struggling the most and again, i want to thank you for all of your help😊😊
One problem i have with these videos. Is they are supposed to be for beginners but then all the apps or websites you suggest you have to pay for. Must be nice to have always had money if im just beginning OBVIOUSLY i cant afford to pay for them. Im at 0
Very true..Newbies may not be ready to pay for these services. But youtube has plenty of free videos to make us better creators! Canva is free and good for thumbnails and capcut is free for editing. So there are free options out there. ❤❤❤
Such a great and straightforward video! Thank you so much for it! ☺ I am a beginner content creator as well, I already made two vlogs and I already can tell how many things I still have to learn. Thanks to your videos I can learn them in a fun an entertaining way, which I really appreciate! 😌Keep up the great work!
@@Raycarlaxo That's so nice of you, I really appreciate your kindness! 🥰I have a lot of ideas still to "improve" my content, but I hope that you find something interesting on my page. ❤Thank you!
I really, truly appreciate your realness. I totally get the psychic bruise of of that. Your willingness to cross that line is what keeps me coming back to you. Keep doing you, Katie. Love it.❤❤❤
I struggle with planning content ahead for my vlogs. So like I’m gonna start talking here and then I’m going to change camera angle or room and pick up the conversation where I left off. And by the way record all the BRoll
This was so useful! I have been trying to work on my vlogs ever since I started, but I definitely still do some of these things - thank you for pointing us into the right direction of what to work on!
I feel like God answered a prayer. Which I know he does but the things you discussed is what I’m struggling with. Thanks so much love your vlogs . Newbie but ai definitely need to go catch up cause this was a hidden gem 💎
Thank you for this awesome educations. I started vlogging 4 years ago and quit because i had anxiety about people watching me. Now im trying again, feeling great, but hate that 4 years has been wasted.
Honestly, I don’t know why I don’t get views. I have so many shorts that generate some views but my long form videos don’t get views. Maybe it’s just not that interesting anyway, idk…
You have no idea how much I needed this video. Thank you! I was just looking for something like this besides...vlogging is dead. LOL I want to revive my UA-cam channel as a vlog channel.
That was so good. I needed to get moving and do something else but as your video was teaching me, you kept me engaged and wanting to see more. You are a Gem Girl. Thanks for all the tips. I def subscribed. X🇦🇺⭐️🌟
Loved this formar of vlog! Could you make a video about how to vlog with an iPhone/phone. Want to start vlogging on UA-cam but don’t know how to start 😅🫶🏻
I’m not a vlogger, but I do appreciate all of your tips! Not only that, I love your vlogging cinematography! It definitely gives me ideas for settings and backdrops.
I love this--I'm ALWAYS intimidated by the concept of vlogging. I don't want to make a vlog channel, but I do want to infuse more of it on my account to hopefully allow people to connect with me more and *see* the real-life application and value of following my creator tips. 😅 This video itself is the perfect example of what to do so thank you!
I struggle with recording myself talk while doing something interesting. It's difficult for me to find a way to record myself while out in public so I either have stationary clips of me talking or clips with just my surroundings.
also helps to think through and answer "what does my viewer take away/how does this help my viewer?" otherwise it ends up being a bunch of incoherent sequences. Ask me how I know ☺
I love this video, very informative and entertaining at the same time. As a new UA-camr I struggle with speaking on camera sometimes, other times too I just flow it’s weird but I guess I have to keep going. Thank you for the tips
This was a great video and very helpful tips. How about doing one on why shorts don’t get views? This seems to be my problem as I have began the long form video content just yet.
I have the opposite problem - I don't talk at all in some of my vlogs. I just show footage of my life. I write my life update in the description to create context for my vlogs. I love to write and film. I don't like presenting so much, nor do I want to influence people. I genuinely just enjoy sharing my life. What are your thoughts on this strategy? I'm a new vlogger therefore no data to show if this is going to work long term.
Could you incorporate the written portion onscreen? The description box disconnects the two mediums, where they could be better together and level each other up!
Really great video Katie! I think you addressed these common mistakes really well, WHILE making a very compelling vlog that I ended up watching until the end ;) I'd love a follow-up video where you go into more depth regarding how you add tension/suspense to vlogs - do you brainstorm the structure of your video beforehand? Do you plan "shoot part 2 on day 2" etc? Do you write voice over notes to add in later as you go along? I'm super curious! Thanks for the great content as always xx

The biggest turnoff for me when I’m watching videos is when the UA-camr looks at the viewfinder while they’re filming
I struggle with this so much!
I don’t mind 😅
My hubby points out when I do this. I try not to but I’m still working on my confidence in-front of the camera and guilty of checking.
Pretty much everyone does im used to it
I hate it as well omgggg
You have input a lot of demonstration! That's great and awesome 👍🏻
Hey Katie - I love your content and vibe. Do you do consulting calls?
This is such an amazing video.

Thanks again Katie. Very helpful. Also it's easy watching your videos because you are super cute.
