Did the BOP do its job, or did the pressure blow out the annulus packing and come around the BOP. Also when pipe is pushing out the hole is there pressure all the way up the centre of the pipe after it pushes the mud back up ? I know dangerously nothing about oil patch process. Thanks.
That’d encapsulate a fire to go into the earth, I doubt cutting it in would should off your problem. I know oxygen would be cut but I don’t think it’s as easy as shutting in the annulars. You’d need to cut the pipe & they may not want to ruin what they have
I applied for job at boots and coots during Iraq war to put out the fires Texas based I worked in Texas out of New Orleans in heavy construction

Why was it necessary to continue flaring after the new BOP was installed?
Probably more pressure than the wellhead was rated for. I've seen that before
Halliburton
I can remember when it happened it made one of the largest gas deposits
Why did then need a pit? Why not just shut it off at the new BOP.
