For those wondering who the fiddler is, her name is Renee Doucet. She and her husband Seph Peters are amazingly talented and have a bunch of other videos on UA-cam that are definitely worth looking up!
Sometimes I think if I could choose a location in Time and space to be there present I would choose this session. I watch this again and again over the years and I'd like to feel how it would be to play the violin that way.
The tune called 'Fire Dance' was written by Canadian fiddler Richard Wood and released on his album 'Fire Dance' (1998). As far as I know, there is no sheet music available online.
only thing better than listning to a smokin hot fiddle is looking at a smookin hot fiddle player playing it! (standing ovation) (you both were awsome ! and thanks for shareing this.
just had to add on here, thanks, in no small part due to this performance, i was inspired to get a violin and try n learn it. i love the celtic stuff, this video in particular. now mind you I'm 44, have ra (arthritis) and have had 2 bone fusion surgeries on my spine. so i don't know how far i will get, especially tryin to learn on videos (havein trouble findin a teacher locally) but I'm gonna give it on hell of a try, thanks for the inspiration.
oh, slowly lol. Violin is not an easy instrument to pick up. And I managed to mess my wrist up pretty good not long after posting that. it's still no totally healed but gettin better.
If the violin gets too much, can I suggest you try a mandolin? Similar size to a violin, same tuning and same fingering, but with helpful frets. No bow, just a pick. A lot of what you know already should just transfer across.
I like your Tam Lin best and share on FB. Because of spelling I lost track of it over the years: Tamlin (The Glascow Reel) I believe. Very hot medley-even the title of 2nd tune.
I found this yesterday and fell in love with the Firedance. Couldn't find the sheets anywhere for it so I notated it myself. Anyone who would like a copy: hit me up!
just freakin awesome i love this song and i don't know these people playing it but they are by far now my favorite version, cover whatever ...10 thumbs up
I'm trying to play the lead on electric guitar time to time and I feel if I could practice it for 125 years 8 hours per day, I would be able to play as she does around 5.5% 😆 She is absolutely Amazing! And all of the other players of course!
Scrimshank1 : Dave is my go to ! Glad to hear him mentioned . He somehow tramscends the limitations of his instrument . ( and he plays other insyruments ) . He takes the old music and runs changes through them seemingly without effort ! Emotionally devastating - leaves me exhausted sometimes .
WOW awesomeness I’m a Cajun music rhythm guitar player from south Louisiana and love your version of this song. My mother’s maiden name is Doucet Were are you guys from??
Brilliant playing, love it! for people asking for the music - Fire Dance is by Richard Wood and is available in music notation here: www.rwood.ca/richard-wood-music-collection
omg, this Is so amazing ! im soo jealous xD im in an orchestra, myself- im not half as good as you xD, but I was wondering where you found your music? and if so, would you mind maybe sending a link or something to me? for viola and violin too
Most fiddle players learn songs by ear instead of getting notes. That's just an Irish thing though and idk if she does the same but if you want to learn by ear you can just record and slow it down. Hope that helps

Thanks!
Thank you so much dear Josh!! 🙌🙏🌟🙂💖
Love playing Tam LIn but have never heard Firedance before. Love them together.
I still love listening to the this version. The guitar rhythm is keeping a lovely tempo and percussion supporting the fiddle.
This absolutely blows my mind! This performance is from here on my number one reason to why I continue to struggle learning to play the violin.
Sometimes I think if I could choose a location in Time and space to be there present I would choose this session. I watch this again and again over the years and I'd like to feel how it would be to play the violin that way.
One of the best interpretations i've ever heard ! Bravo !
By far.
Yes to this
I've watched this a hundred times. It's just fantastic.
Few hundred more times.

I've been looking for this, thanks. And I've found the sheet music online.
And this is why I want to play violin so badly, This is probably the best version of Tam Lin Reel I would prefer. I really love this song!!
such energy packed into that fiddle playing.
Very good. I have never tired of listening to it.
It`s marvellous, I love the firedance part!

Phil w hey, how’s the violin coming along?
Phil w I need an update! Really hope you stuck with it, it’s such a fun instrument!

love the tam lin, and love your playing!.. thank you!

OMG, you guys rocked it! I'm both a contra dancer and fiddler, and couldn't sit still listening to your wonderful version! Thank you.

Sophie Winnington. Hi Sophie, would love to try Firedance also. Much appreciated if you could send sheet to schofida2@gmail.com Thank you!
Hi Sophie, please send a Firedance copy to nelsondenman@gmail.com if you have Tam Lin, that too. Thank you!

Best version ever!!
This song is pure joy and happiness! Beautiful!!
Yep sure is. Rolls along like an express train. Close your eyes and you are on that train👍🚂🚂🚂
man, one of the best performances I've seen on UA-cam. Damn shame you all don't have more music out.
0:09 to 0:24 - my favourite part. I could listen to the variations of it for twenty minutes.
just freakin awesome i love this song and i don't know these people playing it but they are by far now my favorite version, cover whatever ...10 thumbs up
really great!! one of the best versions i've heard!!
She wears a heavy wrist watch. The additional mass on the bow arm helps her to prevent rushing 🙂
Outstanding performance, absolutely.

this is really good :) the tune is outstandingly played. great performance!
A very good version. Dave Hum did a nice version on banjo that is excellent too.

Excellent !
Is “the Firedance” tune a new tune or old. Where can someone find the sheet music?
I've been trying to play this forever but can't seem to get fast enough to sound right.
its a Scottish tune about a scotsman tam lin trying to escape from the fairies
Why my Violin doesn't sound the same :DDDDDDDDDDDDD
