- Yurikamome, which opened in 1995, is a new transportation system that connects central Tokyo such as Shinbashi and Toyosu with the waterfront sub-centers of Odaiba and Ariake. The original name of the line was the Tokyo Waterfront New Transit Rinkai Line, but the nickname "Yurikamome" has become popular among the public. From the windows of the Yurikamome, you can see famous landmarks such as the Tokyo Skytree and Rainbow Bridge, and one of the attractions of the line is that it is lined with tourist attractions such as Palette Town and the headquarters of Fuji Television Network, Inc.
Unlike trains and monorails, Yurikamome trains have the same structure as automobiles, with four wheels and rubber tires per car, so they can climb up and down steep hills without difficulty. In addition, since the trains are operated automatically by computer, there are no drivers or conductors on board.

I went to a concert in Toyosu a few years ago so I got to experience the Yurikamome at night and end-to-end. Very pleasant ride, especially when you can get the front seat to see out the front (or the back, like in this video). It's a bit expensive, and isn't a JR line so you can't use the Japan Rail Pass, but the only other train onto Odaiba is the Rinkai Line, which is also not JR and underground, so not as pleasant as Yurikamome.
違った角度から東京が見れて新鮮でした、豊洲市場が休みだったのは残念でしたね、、、
I lived at japan for 6 years and lived at toyosu for 3 years. It was a great place to live alot of markets and facilities and other transportation. I want to go to JAPAN after covid ends and see how it changed
Thx alot
It’s fun to go and explore Odaiba in this train. I took it to the Ariake to explore Tokyo Rinkai Disaster Prevention Park, Oedo Onsen Monogatari, Teamlab Borderless iand ride the giant sky wheel in Palette Town, Venusport, Gundam Unicorn statue, Statue of Liberty and many more.
I will be staying in the Shinbashi area for my upcoming Tokyo trip and bump into this video. Lo and behold this is from one of my favourite subscribed channels! 😄
I just discovered your channel and subscribed right away, amazing image quality and usefull captions. thank you for your work. best wishes from Germany.
I like your videos, thanks for the content!

Those are some amazing sights, and in beautiful sunlight. Thank you ❤️
I have seen almost all of your videos thank you ❤️😎🤩🥰
Aqua City is a cool place!
時々インドネシアで遊んだり、インドネシアでバスに乗ったり、インドネシアからの挨拶
Reminds me of the people movers they have at some USA airports. The Yuikamone is a heck a lot smoother ride compared to the airport ones.
Awesome video 👍💯
I’ve ridden this train! I went to see Asimo at Miraikan and loved it!
Oh, yes it was! It's nice and scenic, isn't it!
@@ITSUKAJAPANTRAVEL very. I can’t wait to return and ride it again. 😊
🤩 beautiful
The only thing I did not like about this video is the backwards views on the train. For some reason, it triggered my motion sickness so I had to fast forward during those parts. But it was a good video.
Excellent video. I’ve ridden this train a number of times. The rubber wheels ( not steel ) help to make the ride very smooth. This is the train to get when there is an event at Odiba. Not forgetting Zepp Diver City and the Science museum are also at Odiba along with Fuji TV headquarters.
Very good video
Does the train run at night? would love to see the city lit up :) thanks for sharing this, interesting views
edit - just found it, one of the linked videos is night time !
We have something similar in Copenhagen, only ours go underground through the inner city.
Was just going to say, totally reminded me of the Copenhagen metro! I lived in Copenhagen for some years, and initially lived close to Amagerbro so I used the metro a lot and lived there at the time when the metro was extended to Kastrup airport :) The two things I didn’t like about the Copenhagen metro was the frequently broken elevators at the stations even though I didn’t rely on them back then (I do however now if I was to visit Copenhagen, as a wheelchair user) but sometimes would use them because I was tired or in pain (from an at that time still undiagnosed genetic condition) and I also found it inconvenient that the metro didn’t connect with Hovedbanegården, so if I was going to visit family in Sweden, I’d end up taking bus 2A or 5A to the station instead of Metro to not have to change on the way. Yes, I know Øresundstog stops at Nørrebro but I was taking X2000 when possible and those or the express bus left from Hovedbanegården... Another minus that didn’t always apply, though happened too often for comfort... Copenhagen Metro was/is greatly under dimensioned so it would easily get very crowded, I noticed that issue especially to and from Ørestad because of Fields shopping center, but it could also be an issue to and from the airport at times. It’s been 10 years since I left Copenhagen though, and during my last year and a bit there, I didn’t use the metro much or at all as I lived in Tårnby and then in Brøndby and worked in Brøndby within walking distance from Albertslund so I mostly just used regional trains, S-tog and buses at that time
@@ReyOfLight It expanded a few years ago and is now actually the most useful method of public transport for me as a wheelchair user (but even back then it was a good better than the S-trains, where you have to signal to the driver that they need to let you on, and some of them can be pretty unfriendly.) It has expanded so that it now stops at places like Rådhus Pladsen and near Christians borg slots plads (our goverment building) and has made the city so much more easier to get around in. They even sort of solved the elevator problem by having two of them at each station.
@@nergregga Really glad to hear it’s been expanded and improved! I’ve heard about it being expanded, but yeah, really glad it’s also become more physically accessible! Accessibility makes life so much easier both for us wheelchair users but also for people who have to haul luggage to travel somewhere or people with young children, pets or bicycles. Don’t know how many times I saw people having to take their bicycle up or down the stairs and escalators (sometimes also broken escalators) to get to or from the platform because an elevator was broken. S-tog wasn’t brilliant either, also plagued by broken elevators but at least not as many stairs to conquer then compared to some of the metro stations (broken elevators anywhere did of course not help people who can’t use the stairs at all but oh well...)
Dream to ride on this train
good
I want to catch that train and look around the area. Thank you
I think the train is also being used in Macau Light Rail

How does the train know where to stop
It’s computer controlled. At certain intervals there are loops of wire that send an electric signal to the train when it passes over them. The train uses these to calculate its position on the track down to a few centimeters.
@@nergregga Good answer, the wire loops work like wireless chargers on cell phones, which also serve to exchange data.
@@nergregga I didn't know
