Its not the Tesla car that doesn't work in the very cold, its the batteries that power it, that are seriously adversely affected by prolonged below zero figures. This is a well known drawback of electrically powered vehicles to engineers and scientists. Can you blame Tesla for not warning customers of this drawback? Would you buy a Tesla car if you knew this drawback? Probably not! So I doubt that they will sell many cars in Alaska, well in the summer maybe?
@@treasuremarket1 This is so stupid. Anchorage Alaska and -40F and the superchargers and cars work fine. Chicago (one of the worst run cities in the US) can't keep the power on so the supercharger station can't charge cars. It's not a Tesla problem. It's a Chicago problem.
@@motleydude73 Many people have an IQ of -25 % . Tesla shows a warning on the screen when the battery reaches 20 % to charge directly !Most of them drive their EVs down to 2-3% of charge and expect the chargers to charge it at 0F without the battery being warm ! Most EV's circuitry prevent a froze battery from charging at 0F when you are down to 2-3% of charge .70% of all new cars here in Finland are EVs, a country that is extremelly cold in winter, and I've never heard of massive numbers of EV car not charging. And i don"t have this problem with my Tesla 3 .We have a better IQ.
I don't get it either. Why do people drive an electric vehicle in the cold when they know lithium batteries become liquid to solid. It's very basic they teach in elementary school that oil becomes a solid state when the temperature is cold. Do go out in the snow and complain. Just go back to elementary school and learn what you missed.

Some people must get to work no matter what the temp and after spending 50k for a car and then be told not to go out when it's cold that's not a very good car to have in most of this country but I guess when your so rich you completely forget about how most people live.
Considering Elon's companies are based in California or Texas, that isn't exactly that common of an issue ;) Plus, there's a difference between working from home permanently, vs working from home because you literally can't get to work.
@@mrdrummer2564 That’s beside the point. If every CEO had Elon’s mentality, every worker would have slept in the office and their Tesla frozen brick would’ve been still outside. Those people driving those frozen Tesla had to go to work, some because their boss wants them in the office for no good reason. They wasn’t driving to go get avocado toast. That was my gripe with this.

I have never heard Elon speak so eloquently.

@@grubac5087 It is a Tesla problem. They shut down in cold. Did you not watch the video? Chargers are irrelevant.

Pay a lot of money for a car you can't use during winter .

-20 and you work in Emergency field and have to get to work. Not a good excuse Elon.

Tesla is a California car. Not for the Midwest or Canada in extreme weather.
Says the guy who wants everyone to go back to the office.
How are they going to get there?
