Kelis wrote the song "Milkshake," making it her own. While Pharrell holds the rights to the song, meaning he earns money when it is sampled, Kelis does not receive payment. I would also be displeased if someone took credit for my work and profited from it.
Her and Pharrell wrote it together as a demo for Britney with kelis as the primary writer. When it was rejected kelis fought for it to be apart of her album which is why milkshake really didn’t match the rest of the album imo. Her/pharrell manager rob did just that robbed her of writing credits due to a contract she signed at 17.

For the first time Kelis was credited for her song, by Beyoncé. Weird, that she was sooo triggered by that interpolation and yet I know that wasn't the first time milkshake was sampled.

Touring is a reach… Yes she still performs at festivals and random clubs. The videos are available and the performances are messy and lack luster. She’s an artist but is LAZY when it came time to perform. Anyway. My point still stands with VIDEO evidence. Music is still a vibe but i would never be waste my life watching another live performance.

If she signed a contract she did that to herself. You have to keep in mind, even though she created it, she did not fund it or invest in it, so if she was to experience failure she was not going to be the one to lose, the ones that invested would have experienced the monetary loss.

I support Kelis! I don’t think she’s bitter. I notice that people give the more popular people more credit than the original artist. She’s not wrong for defending herself. It doesn’t help when people keep fanning the flames against alleged rumors. What I’ve learned is to only respond to certain forums…Some forums just aren’t worth putting any comments or energy into. This is the problem with the music industry it’s no accountability on both ends for the producers or artist. Some of these artists are so desperate to be famous they sign a horrible deal especially 360 ones the money is being split so many ways the artist has barely anything left for themselves. Bet only took 29-25% but bey did have a hand in writing a lot of her songs too. She usually comes up with the melodies and harmonies. Kelly told about jumping jumping was the first song she wrote own her own.letoya talked about how bey would be in the car writing songs. While they be riding rides . And Kelly, Latoya ,and latavia, and bey talked about how they would give they input and ideas on songs and would sometimes write the bridge or rewrite a verse. Kandi even said that even though they wasn't the main writers on the songs she wrote for them. They did rewrite some parts. Added melodies ans harmonies and helped write the bridge. And Kelly admitted bey came up with most of the melodies and harmonies on they third album. And neyo said she come up with the melodies and harmonies on irreplaceable and rearranged parts of the songs

Kelis is one of my favorite artists of all time! I have been a fan since Caught Out There. Her Wanderland album is my favorite album and is the first item I ever bought on Amazon in 2003! I had to get a copy from Japan bc it wasn’t released in the US. My favorite song is Till The Wheels Fall Off on her Kelis Was Here album. I was so excited to see this notification pop up! I wanted to be Kelis when I was little. She was so fearless, unique, and artistic. She was such a role model to me. When this mess happened with Beyoncé I was so mad because Beyoncé is known for stealing from other artists. No one can blam Beyoncé ‘s team because she’s done this too many times. If Aaliyah was still living Beyoncé would have faded into obscurity because Beyoncé’s album sales were low low.
Kelis was telling the truth about Beyonce but no one wants to hear it. I agree with Kelis and I guess she said it because she has nothing to lose.

Every artist knows what they are doing when they take the work of another artist without permission. From the lowest rung of the ladder, kids just making their first tune to the highest where Kelis and Beyoncé are at, the songs that people create are their children and when someone steals that child and essentially rips that child apart for profit it is the highest insult. With her colors, fashion, and alternative style, she looks so real, I always assumed she was a work of fiction. I drew her a lot. Kelis was huge in the Uk and Europe, she had that alternative vibe that we love here, she was on the front covers of alot of our magazines and had a collaboration with UK designer Matthew Williamson. She could have done better if she was marketted outside of RnB in the US, but it still may have been too early for the US market for someone like Kelis to not be pigeonholed within a particular genre and demographic. Her first 3 albums are elite, and the hidden track on Wanderland shows just how good she was for THAT to be a hidden track.

Yep, but they never take the mom to court in order to see their kid. I believe she brought up Beyoncé because she’s disappointed that Bey didn’t reach out and very so could’ve but chose not to. I’m with Kelis, it’s common courtesy to call and at least give be a heads up.
I love Kelis but I do feel like the angst stems from deep roots and now with it being unhealed plus more trauma its beginning to leak out…. I can only say this from my own experience I pray that she gets the love and healing she needs
