I'm not surprised they married Mixed race women. Look at Marcus Garvey. His second wife Amy Garvey said he was enchanted by her hair and white features. Malcolm X was the only Black nationalist who married a dark skinned Black woman

I've heard that! It's also a Brit saying... My mother uses it . I definitely remember the time that they ruled, even as an American, and Iwas young at the time... They were brutal to the Haitian people. 😢! Power taken too far.

The church that I attend has an orphanage and a school in Haiti for the past 40years and we hear reports each Sunday on what’s going on there.
The gangs are in total control. They’ve even gotten equipment to run over and demolish police stations and have kìlled police officers, as well.
The prime minister has now left the country and they gangs have taken over the streets.
We send much money each week and those in charge of the orphanage and school need to go out to the market to stock up on food for the children there (especially since the gangs have now taken over the ports also and it isn’t clear how long people will be able to get food at all or how much if will be sold for by the gangs if they do get it) but there is fear of being robbed and carjacked in the streets once they go outside.
There is total lawlessness. For all of this, please keep Haiti in your prayers. 😔

A popular saying in Haiti is "Haiti is 70% Catholic, 30% Protestant, and 100% Voodoo". There's a movie and a book called The Serpent and the Rainbow which confirms this

I have never seen Michelle or Mama Doc look like. I appreciate you doing this a lot . I was born same year baby doc left Haiti. I don't remember much except what I was told. I remembered them telling me they had to hide one of Uncle so the mob didn't burn him alive like they were doing all the macoute.

She was no worse or better than many women that were married to dictators at that time in history. All I know is that under the Duvalier government Haiti was a stable country with very little crime and at that time Haitians were proud to be Haitians. Looking back Haiti has never been as stable or safe since the ousting of President Jean Claude Duvalier.

Thank you!! I agree with this comment. Let’s really look at all of the history of Haiti. Things have been really bad for Haitians since democracy came. There was a time where the country was stable and it was really during baby Doc’s reign. I have family from that time and they said he was nothing like his father.

I’m Haitian and appreciate the thoroughness of this video. The Dragon Lady and Baby Doc were the enemies of Haiti. Michelle reminds me of the French queen that was beheaded by the people-she would’ve said,”Let them eat cake!” I explained in my book, “America’s & France’s 1,000 Year War Against Haiti: Assassination of a Nation” written by King Kevin Dorival 🇭🇹🖤👑

The Dragon Lady title seems a bit harsh but maybe she did breathe fire on the Haitian people, LOL. Your book 1,000 Year War Against Haiti sounds like a must read. When and where can I get your book? Please share the link. Maybe @KarineAlourde will interview you--ask her.

It's some peak rich girl behaviour to televise a glitzy fundraiser to the people you're raising money for. A lot of her mistakes seem to stem from her failure to recognise the issues of class divide. She doesn't seem like a bad person, but she does seem ignorant to the fact that people don't want your sympathy if you have perfectly good money to give them instead, and she certainly had enough money to go round if she had chosen to share.

It happened to my mother when she was a child, but with Michele Duvalier's sister ( I forgot her name and weirdly I can not find her on the internet anymore) My mom was around 6 years old and was playing in front of the house. My grand-grand grandma and my grandma were sitting in front of the house talking when a black limousine drove by. Minutes after, the limousine car came back and parked in front of the house and Michèle's sister came out. She got closer to my mom and started talking to her telling her how much she was cute and such. My grandma and a couple of others from the neighborhood gatherd around. She was asking if she could take my mother with her. My grandma plead with her. Michèle's sister litteraly tried to negociate into buying my mother as a child. She than gave up and left. My mother said it was a known thing around the area that the Bennett's sisters would take children.
