The BMW M3 GTR livery for Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005) was designed by EA Black Box, a subsidiary of Electronic Arts based in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. Within EA Black Box, the design and production of game assets, including vehicle liveries, would have been managed by the Art and Graphics Department. This team specialized in creating the visual elements of the game, such as car designs, environments, and user interfaces. EA Black Box had a reputation for blending real-world inspiration with creative freedom, leveraging input from manufacturers like BMW to ensure the livery captured both racing authenticity and the game's street-racing theme. Their location in Burnaby housed the development teams responsible for the Need for Speed series, and the art department collaborated closely with game designers and producers to finalize designs. The design was likely a collaborative effort aimed at capturing the spirit of street racing and high-performance motorsport.
What's crazy is how much that car speaks for itself. From a glance, there's no indication at all that they made it look like something from a video game, let alone which one. It's just kind of there, but you can see people stopping and admiring it because they know. It's probably the most iconic car in all of racing game history.
No, that is not a replica that’s actually made in craft by Bmw. They actually made it look exactly like from the need for speed but if they’re smart enough, they would start selling it. It would’ve been sold like hot cakes.
When I was a child I always wished that BMW allows the #42 car to have the MW05 vinyl just for the world to see how the car looks like accurately in real life. And the fact that BMW approved to use the #42 Schnitzer to be wrapped is enough the make a childhood dream come true
its simple when you think about it, you know just put a livery on an existing car, but just the fact that BMW M agreed to it and did it is just wild...
Game version had red Sparco bucket seat, HID projector headlights and eagle eye led tail lights. But the proper and real race car had Recaro bucket seat, halogen lights on front and rear. So it’s basically correct and done by BMW.
childhood? I am 40 years old and I would give my life for this car, I am a gamer and having played MW and other racing games so many times, it is not wrong to say that it is the most famous hero car and why not the most important in the world

I have a feeling one of the peeps in BMW might be millennial that played NFS Most Wanted as a kid and manage to convince the management that this is actually a nice thing to do. Kudos for BMW for embracing this.
Need For Speed Most Wanted 2005 is one of my favourite NFS Series everytime I playing so much. Storyline so fantastic, lots of full packed action, and thrilled enjoy, so BMW M3 GTR is the car of the symbol of legend on part of this game. Without this legend, that will be no Most Wanted in that game. Since I watch this video to look a real life on BMW M3 GTR, it feels like I'm going to play Need For Speed Most Wanted 2005 for once again, very strong nostalgia on this video. I'm glad this video from the game become into reality. Keep it up.
I went to the official site of BMW. They state the characteristics of this rebuild as follows: 450 hp, 260 km/h top speed, 1,100 kg, P60B40 V8 engine. Folks, this car is truly a living legend. But I would expect it to go at least 300 km/h. Even the 2001 legal GTR was more than 295. It's more powerful and I don't understand how it can be 260. And by the way, I think the 0-100 takeoff is approximately 3.4 seconds. Anyway, I'm glad to see this car, but they could have increased its power a little more.
I think "260 km/h" is just for formalities, we all know BMW has always prank us with their "horsepower" figures. If you know that the car went 295 km/h, then believe this can do the same
This is a car designed for the racetrack, not the autobahn. With such power and weight, 300 km/h is more of a formality. But because it is designed for the racetrack, gearbox might have quite short ratios
So happy for this because that's not like another replica made from stock, street legal M3. They really did it with the real M3 GTR! The same car that dominates GT racing back in 2000s! Thank you BMW for acknowledge this car popularity!
