I love her. And I love runs. But sometimes every note doesn't require a run. It just felt like so much. I know it's a good sign of being a good singer. But this didn't require all the runs.

Is there some reason they did not type the word "Jesus" in the captions at any time? Instead they typed "He". Just curious.
I love her voice but there was something missing it didn’t feel real. Whenever I hear the original I can’t help but feel gods love and emotions didn’t get that from her.
She did a wonderful job but for me I love the pureness of and worship in CeCe Winans rendition. This was more entertaining with all the riffs and runs.

Im sorry to say I felt the exact same way. It’s absolutely because of all of the runs. This felt so performative, not true praise.
This is one of the gospel songs where the focus should really be on the text. Hard to do that when every other word is embellished. It detracts from the message and shifts the focus to the vocal ability of the singer.
Nevertheless, Makenzie is a vocal powerhouse. Just wish she would’ve shown some restraint and maturity when choosing to offer up a song like this.

Beautiful voice and great tone. However, this was a performance and not ministry. There were too many runs and acrobatics. Some songs aren’t needed for all of that and this was one of them.
The dancers are very distracting. She has such a beautiful voice, no need for the dancers

I totally agree. She did a wonderful job but It was more entertaining with all the riffs and runs from the start. This would be perfect for a competition but I wouldn’t put it on my worship playlist.
