    The problem of Joey is simple, he is the type of person that judges the world using himself as the one and only standard of what people are and how things should be, he is incapable or unwilling to adapt his perspective to understand the mindset of someone living under different circumstances, that's why when he sees Bocchi, he goes "this is so stupid, I would never behave like this, therefore no one would ever behave like this, this is stupid and unrealistic". It's fine if he hated the anime, because he found the characters or the story annoying, but the way he goes about it, is like Bocchi the Rock is objectively a bad story, instead of saying "hey the mc of the story is annoying to me and that is why don't like the anime".

    If you guys remember Joey way back... He's literally Bocchi, a skinny guy full of anxiety who wants to play music... Him hating Bocchi is prolly a deep rooted hate for himself from the past before he became theanimeman, I kinda relate to it since I also hate my past self lmao 🤣🤣🤣

    I think what people don’t understand is the anime man is Australian. People are just more extraverted here to the point where an “introverted” Australian still ends up able to function normally most of the time.

    Problem with joey is his behavior and certain aspect of his personality. It's not even some kind of mistakes or he unintentionally offending people. We monkeys are not smart but we grasp what kind off person, who you are by watching their behavior. What was the mindset behind this action, explanation and body language, we cant see although but we can see one thing, his narcissism. Trash Tastes other cast's have aggreges opinions but they can back up and can draw the line, but Joey always act better than everyone, even though he say "I might be wrong, I don't know" etc but its so clear that it's so ingenuine everyone can call that out. May be not first time watching him but 2, 3 time could be clear indicator.
    Sorry for bad English, it's not my first language, usually I don't comment on video, I love your content thank you for the video 🗿

      Yeah for me, I think he's being ingenuine for the bocchi take. It feels like the take is not because he isn't enjoying Bocchi but more to piss off Bocchi fans. Idk what happened when he watched the show but something might make him mad (for example, the fans comparing Bocchi to K-ON).
      Tbh I think he's pretty good at hiding his genuine feeling. His takes leans more as a tool to fulfill his motivation. Which is usually fine for me, but the Bocchi take seems out of spite. I also think that's why he usually has the neutral take on the podcast

      @@manoi8 I can agree with that, I might be unintentionally watched tons off clip and vid about trash taste and misjudging my knowledge. In trash taste community its known fact that Joey hates trendy, new things. By the way I didn't even watch Bocchi, I heard it's good and held it for the right time. Even someone who didn't watch the anime, his take pisses me off.

      @@b.tuguldur2366 I mean for other examples like he said he doesn't like SAO (well it's a meme now) and JJK is pretty genuine to me. Because when he talks about these 2, it's usually calm demeanor and level headed. Mostly he just thinks those didn't deserve as hyped as they should be, but with Bocchi he kinda being aggressive.
      Well try out some episodes, it got beloved for reasons. I'll quote from the show itself: "It might not connect with too many people, but those it does, it'll hit deeply"

    13:10 about that. Till Lindemann - lead singer of Rammstein in the beggining of his career was REALLY shy. He even wasn't able to look at the crowd. And it's noticable at their first concerts where he looks in the sky, on the floor but not at the crowd. All pyrotechnic things also was intorduced including this moment.

      @@WisdomeSage1989 he actually performed before, he was in a small band with a group of friends, they played music and made music videos before thou they didn't get popular tbh lol. He's also a type of guy that gets bullied in his early teens when he was but a skinny pathetic dude, I think it's only around when Aki became part of his life that he actually became a bit confident about himself.
      Im not defending Joey's opinion but I kinda see why he hates bocchi knowing he also went thru that pace where he hated himself during the past. 😅

    So my biggest issue with this is his apparent lack of empathy. Sure, he may not be saying it maliciously, but that almost makes it worse? This really feels like he is showing his true colors here. If he is really this level of unempathetic, I really do not think I can consider him a good person. I might even go so far as call him a bad one. And him trippling down on this does not help his case. And unfortunately, this is not just "one person's opinion that we can just laugh at and ignore". Unfortunately, he has a huge audience and his words and behaviors can have a huge influence on many people who watch him. It's not just a small instance that exists in a bubble. This kind of behavior does need to be properly called out.

    i also think that 99% of human on this earth have less social anxiety than bocchi. The problem is that you don't need to be the same 100% to relate to bocchi.
    For example, me, i am not that level of anxiety but the moment she walked around infront of the cafe door just relate to me so much because i was there too.

    • @BelBelle468
      @BelBelle468 10 днів тому +8

      I wouldn’t say 99% mostly cuz like this guy says, the stuff in Bocchi isn’t fully focused on realism.
      Art is meant to capture the emotions and experience, so even if you can’t relate to the exaggerated reaction she does, u fully get WHY she feels that way.

    • @qizeaqfile
      @qizeaqfile 10 днів тому +3

      I think you are mistaken about the exaggeration. I believe nearly 25-50% of humans now have as much or more social anxiety as Boochi. We act mostly the same as Boochi, but we are not an Anime girl who can be warped from reality. We look far more lame and pathetic than her.

      @Muning-Gaming 10 днів тому +1

      Yeah, and mainly because well... it is Anime (Animation) it is meant to be exaggerated, and for me that is when it is the most fun, not everything need to be portrayed realistically, if I want that then I should just only watch live action, but even if a story is exaggerated doesn't mean that it is not relatable, for me in my opinion Joey (TheAnimeMan) is becoming more of a normie and less of an Anime fan as time moves forward, Garnt (Gigguk) is the only one that embraces of being a Anime fan out of the three as the other two is more on the normie side, as if being an Anime fan is something to be a shame about, and I get that it can be embarrassing as how fans behave these days, but they should show an example of how a fan should be but I guess they don't want to be associated with it as how people also react to them online.

      People weren't upset with his opinion of Bocchi. That was just worth a chuckle or two.
      People were upset that Joey's opinion was 'if you are anxious, get over it'. That is such a brain dead opinion to have when crippling social anxiety exists and ruins people's lives because everyone else dismisses it as not real. It's doubly ironic considering Japan is notorious for it Hikikomori population and they are treated with the same dismissiveness and called lazy.

      Thank you! I was wondering what the fuss is about.
      If people get offended by random dudes in the internet, they seriously need to get some help (I'm not kidding, mental health is as important as our body). It never ends well.
      I have social anxiety and stage fright as well, but I learnt to work on myself and not to give a damn about others' thoughts on my problems (other than the professionals and my loved ones of course). People are vastly different. They'll always disagree and be less empathetic to certain aspects, including us as well.

    • @BelBelle468
      @BelBelle468 10 днів тому +7

      The issue is that he says it’s bad cuz it’s exaggerated (the only portion of his argument that’s valid).
      Something being exaggerated isn’t bad. Considering the series TAM DOES champion, he really cannot be saying that exaggeration in animation is bad.
      The only other feasible valid point is his subjective opinion on the music.

      U don’t really know what it is, do u? Or what issues Bocchi has, do u?
      The fact you say this with THAT pfp just feels funnier. Since some are so well known for trying to victimizing ppl to excuse their behavior, it feels on brand you might do it yourself. And also have no clue about psychology whatsoever.

      You can have the happiest, most luxurious upbringing on earth and still have depression, you turnip. Depression is a neurochemical issue, not a situational one. Same with anxiety. It has nothing to do with your status or livelihood, it just is something that happens.

      @@BelBelle468 Depression is a choice. When I was depressed I found out why, abandoned the part of me that made me so and moved on. For me it was doing something that I hated for the recognition of others. I accepted that I wasn't fit for that and stopped and got better. Anxiety means you're either arrogant or cares too much of someone else's opinion for no real reason.
