I had a teacher in the 5th grade that used the analogy "The mites go up, the tights come down."

@@EarthExplained I do have a question tho, limestone is created when large amounts of calcium are compressed correct? So a lot of lime stone is created out of the shells of dead sea creatures right? So let’s say hypothetically if there were creatures like giant crustaceans and nautilidae like creatures living in the ancient seas of a world it would lead to higher amounts of limestone there for making bigger and more frequent caves? I’m sorry if this response annoys you, but why I am curious about this is because I’m developing a universe right now that I want to have large amounts of giant cave systems so I decided that if I added a few leviathans in the oceans that had shells it could explain why there are so many caves and why they’re so big.

Great question! The size of the animal with the calcium carbonate shell does not contribute to the overall size of the limestone deposit. For example, the White Cliffs of Dover are huge (110 m tall, 8 km long) but are the result of the shells of tiny microfossils. We can find limestones that have ammonites in them. Big contributers to limestones are corals, bivalves and microfossils. The cool stuff (ammonites, nautiloids) are mixed in.
Your universe build sounds so cool! Glad to know my videos are helping you out!

Very good, includes the important basics of the chemistry of H2O+CO2+limestone.
Mentions that, but does not explain why, limestone is dissolved below the water table and not (not so much?) above. Obviously, there's water above the water table too, no? Guessing it has something to do with how concentrated/saturated the carbonic acid is (anions)? And/or the calcium (cations)?
