    Sorry to see that a year after publishing this video the DLINE has gone out of production. Being left with only the DPRO that has three times the price makes this a no-go for me.

      Yeah, supply chain shortages have really made a mess of things for everyone, especially for anything with Dante inside.

    Such a shame the giveaway is only for the US, but completely makes sense with insane shipping costs around the world! I hope someone who deserves it wins it, and I can't wait to hear your plans on helping out students!

      I spent nearly half a day researching the legality of offering giveaways internationally & had to give up. The shipping is the easy part honestly, complying with all the regulations as a tiny website is just impossible. Thx for the message.

      @@DcSoundOp If you did give it away internationally, it would end up costing the winner customs, admin fees taxes and what ever they can imagine to take money. Being Canadian gear is very expensive with our dollar sitting so low so long. Here the SSL Origin is over 77K now, it's crazy. So i do wish I could get to win gear here, but I'll be fine trying to win on the SOS site, and other large formats and just thank you for all the information you make available. It's just nice to find what you need for free here sometimes. So yeah, thanks!

    Would love to have one of those! We're building a temporary live broadcasting studio for a remote/distributed tech conference around a Aqulion C+, which only accepts Dante, and we're mixing the sound using my Behringer Wing. Because Behringer STILL has not released their Dante card, we're in a bit of a pickle - and either one of those would really save our butts. We're starting buildup around 2020-12-18 and are finished at new years eve. It's for the rC3, the virtual conference that replaces the 37C3 that would have happened, which is hosted by the chaos computer club here in Germany. If one of those pops up in my mailbox, I would be super excited :)

    Then we just need to be able to control the DPRO from Allen Heath consoles as well, especially the SQ range ;)

    Hello and thanks for your videos !
    I have a crucial question :
    - Can I use this as an audio interface plugged directly into my pc and enjoy its inputs and outputs through my favorite daw ?
    Thanks in advance !

    • @DcSoundOp
      @DcSoundOp  22 дні тому +1

      Thanks for the question. You would need to purchase a Dante virtual sound card license for your PC, but then yes you can use any Dante device as a sound card for your PC with whatever software you enjoy.

    I just got a dpro and the poe injector. I'm hoping to make a makeshift stage box. The company I work for has ql's but no rio. The network utilization is small on the boss' non trusting of audio over network devices. But I'm hoping to change that with new coworkers eagerness to learn high quality digital equipment. Especially since this would solve issues that analog gear wouldn't really in some consistent environments.

      Good for you! That's a bit bizarre to have QL consoles in inventory but no stage boxes for them. I can see not wanting to do complex networks and all, but just as a stage-box they are pretty fool-proof.
      Maybe you can show your boss my video covering how they do the NYE celebration here in Times Square in New York. It is one of the most mission critical & visible gigs in the world, and it's all done with networked audio - ua-cam.com/video/4A2Tvlevqa0/v-deo.html

    Just as question, really would love if this interface if this would work with a software like vMix as mic inputs for a small broadcast package :)

      You can absolutely use a Dante interface as the front end for pretty much any software that needs audio. I actually posted about it on my Instagram stories yesterday showing my setup for zoom. @dcsoundop on there if you’re interested. All the best!

      @@DcSoundOp Thanks for the input, I know it technically works as a Dante point. Never tried it tho with something like this. The perks of being in Europe, especially East side, all things get here a bit later that all of you guys :(

    can the CAT BOX 8 Audio Over CAT5 Stage Box do the same input splitting as this does?

    • @DcSoundOp
      @DcSoundOp  Рік тому +1

      I'm not sure I understand the question. These are a Dante networked audio interface & the CAT BOX 8 is a passive audio over twisted pair adapter. Can you clarify what you're trying to do? Thanks for the message Sam.

      @@DcSoundOp thanks for the reply!
      I have a bunch of analog receivers and IFB transmitters lying around. I want to make an analog to Dante remote bag.
      Receive 8 channels on Lectrosonics 411as to cat box and send them Dante into my Scorpio Recorder and simultaneously send the Scorpio mix of it all over Dante back to the cat box to feed 3 analog IFBs transmitters Lectro T4s.
      I like the functionality of the DPRO because it could create an IFB comms feed by splitting a mic to multiple outs.
      Is this mic splitting feature specific to DPRO?
      Could I with Dante take channel 1 on a cat box and output channel 1 and also send it Dante to my Scorpio and then send it back and through to outputs channel 2,3 ?

    Unclear: If all the IO is on the network then why can't the audio from the DLINE's input be routed right back to its output?

    • @DcSoundOp
      @DcSoundOp  3 роки тому

      Thanks for the great question Hermiel. The Audinate Ultimo chip that is used in the DLINE doesn't have that functionality like the rest of the Audinate lineup. I'll have to get a specific answer from Audinate on how that is actually handled in the other chips vs this one, but it is the same with any gear based on the ultimo chip. I'll reach out to my contacts & let you know what I hear for details. Thx again.

    • @Hermiel
      @Hermiel 3 роки тому +1

      @@DcSoundOp Well, it's been a minute since I managed a Dante network but as I recall any input appearing in Dante Controller can be routed to any output appearing in Dante controller, irrespective of whether the input and output are in the same physical device or not.
      It sounds as though perhaps the Ultimo chip lacks a built-in DSP mixer which allows it to route signals internally without requiring a network connection.
