Gotta give credit where credit is due…the lightsaber fights were sick and I’m glad they had the balls to kill those characters. The writing and character development is still shit.
It was a slow burn until halfway the show with different directors. Ep 4 was definitely the weakest lf them all. The metal he use is cortisor which is from legends (EU)
He can’t do that. He’s completely blinded by his hatred. He literally criticized the excessive lightsaber twirling, but then he’ll glaze Nick Gillard in the next breath? That’s insane.

In all fairness, Theory doesn't really care for Andor. So I don't think he really cares all that much for writing. He just wants a Luke Skywalker fanfic series with a big budget.

Anakin vs Obi Wan flasjback was great too, and everyone saying: low bar, yeah youre rigjt but this was actually better than Dooku vs Anakin and Obiwan in attack of the clones so its up there

@@ajm3578 My initial guess was that he was a sith and he alluded to that although he didn't explicitly say that he is one. Twitter is theorizing he might be one of the earliest Knights of Ren but Manny Jacinto just confirmed that he is a Sith Lord on a new EW interview.

For real. People are being so blinded by their hate for the writing that they can't recognize when something good actually happens. Personally the fights are the only thing I've been looking forward to in this show, since that's what all the very early marketing and leaks about this show were talking about. No doubt that this is the best fight we've gotten since the prequels. So say what you want about the writing and story, but there were very clearly some true Star Wars fans working on these fights.
A Jedi hitting a sith with the hilt of her saber, multiple times instead of cutting his head off is good because...?
The fight secenes just show what modern star wars could actually be, such a shame they cant write a story for shit

Idk man I'm kind of intrigued now. There's some darkness in sol that I want to know about, and I don't think this dude is the sith, he must have a master. And honestly the deaths of the two other main jedi really surprised me. I thought maybe one, but both? And the addition of cortosis was a nice touch.

Are you just antagonizing now for the clicks or what because this was far from a bad fight scene and episode as a whole. You say you want to see something different and creative, they showed a dark side force user massacring Jedi in ways we haven't seen on film in all out survival light saber battle, a Jedi padawan tapping into the dark side duel wielding light sabers in form IV and you're still critical of it? Dude...c'mon.

So like, are you just willfully ignoring the fact that Ki Adi Mundi was like 100% wrong? Like thats the entire fucking point of the prequel trilogy. The Jedi were arrogant and blind to the fact that they had the most powerful Sith Lord of their time walking their halls, sitting in an office across from them and using them as pawns in a war he orchestrated.
The entire point of this fight is explained very succinctly by Qimir, his identity as a Sith was recklessly revealed, so all who know must now die. Thats how the secret is kept, he's going to kill them all.
Like nitpick all you want but pulling the ol' "THEY BROKE THE CANON HURRR" doesn't work when we already know the Jedi were wrong, the Sith were clearly not "extinct for over a millenia" When we *know* that Bane, Tenebrous, Plagueis, Sidious, Maul and Tyrannus existed. We're literally shown two sith lords at the beginning of Phantom Menace.

Like did you watch the prequel films? Anakin and Obi Wan repeatedly spin and flourish their sabers for no reason, hilariously so during the duel on Mustafar. Jedi haven't had to fight Lightsaber wielding enemies in centuries, they're rigid, structured, following rules of combat/rules of engagement that their enemy, a Sith, is not beholden to.
I mean, come on! Sidious literally kills 3 Jedi masters in the course of 11 seconds in ROTS. (Sure it's fleshed out in the book more and it was done this way due to Ian McDiarmids age) Like they literally stand there and die, Jedi *Council* Masters.

I also agree with this. These are the comments I'm looking for. If a show is bad yes ridicule it yes I could care less. More so after what they did to the sequels. But if it does something well then it also deserves credit. The media has a way of fueling hate trains one person or many come up with a hot take and then you have all the other muppets repeating the same thing blindly. its excessive.

had like 7 battles this chapter and you focused only on the 2 bad parts and they didn't all attack him at the same time because he pushed them even though they fell on him like 4 and he was fighting well against them and the sabers went off and on because of a material that makes That's canon you should know and to remind you, 4 jedis went to kill palpatine and 3 of the council, the best ones did nothing while they put up with it for a while is that what bothers me is that when something is done well they don't give it credit but when there is something wrong It's easier to say it's garbage.
I think one thing some may forget is Yord said it himself. His movements are unpredictable and essentially nothing they ever trained for so any type of "that was bad" during the fights can really be chalked up to they were probably scared as hell lmao

@@01Danni10 They aren't really main characters though, they are side characters. You need character development or something to make people care about them enough to make their deaths any different than any of the other Jedi's that got killed otherwise it's just another character you had no investment in getting killed off. Acolyte is no Game of Thrones, and Yord and Jecki are no Ned Stark.

That was far and away the best saber play since ROTS. Show is ass but that episode was genuinely entertaining. Thats the darkest ive seen starwars get. If ep 1-4 were anything like that we wouldnt be complaining as much
Slow build. Liked the first two, ep 2 secind best so far. Ep 4 weakest and ep five chef's kiss. This is normal for an episodic show with different directors on each episode there will be different directing
@Andalaeknir86 not a fan of slow build when the episodes are weekly and only 20ish min after intros recaps and credits. Slow builds can work with hour long ep not this. Should be released weekly 3 at a time

@@andrewwilson9123 Yes, but that’s not what it originally was. If someone has never seen DBZ and only wants to watch it for the fights, then that obviously isn’t the best mindset to have. The story is wayyy better than the fights. But hey, I guess some people only care about seeing cool action shit despite them saying they truly care for the story.
This is the best choreography in any Star Wars live show. And definitely better than the choreography of Sidious vs the Jedi Masters in Episode III. But Theory is so just consumed into his hate narrative that he cannot appreciate what this episode gave us.
For me, idk if it beats out ep 3 (since that’s the benchmark for lightsaber fights for me), but this fight is definitely up there for sure, at least on par or almost on par. Far better than the OT early styles of fighting and leagues better than any other Disney fight, sequels included. It’s a pain when Theory, with the influence he has, immediately dogs the choreography when if this was Luke killing Sith disciples or Anakin during order 66, he’d be drooling all over it.

Say what you want about the show but the choreography was sick. Also, this is just the middle of the show, there's for sure gonna be another fight towards the end. Maybe that's what the creators meant was gonna be a better fight than the prequels? I doubt it, but to be fair there should be more fights to come.

the phantom Menace fight wasn’t even all that obi wan and Qui gon take turns to attack maul there’s a seen where qui gon is attacking maul and obi wan is just standing there at the ending fight obi wan and maul just stand there they are hardly moving there lower body thats a common issue with the prequel fights they just kinda stand there not move around

@windu2472 Yeah there is a lot of really bad choreography in the prequels that people conveniently ignore lol. This fight wasn't anakin vs obiwan or maul level, but it was better than most other prequel fights in my opinion.

I think the deleted fights from episode 3 - in particular the Palpatine fight - were better than the ones we got. The choreography peaked with episode 1 and kinda went downhill. dooku’s stuff was nice though

I like how lightsabers always make sounds, but when Yord is using it as a flashlight for a whole day, it's silent, it's probably some low power flashlight mode, when he wants to turn it on, he has to press button 5 times and find correct mode.
I liked the fighting scene, something I did not hate. And glad to see lightsabers are effective now. Darth Maul would be proud.

I keep an open mind on anything Star Wars as fan should. If you go into something to just find the things you don’t like and super focus on them that’s on the individual not me or you. Having a constant echo chamber of negativity is where it becomes dull and repetitive.

I still think Obi vs Vader in Episode 4 was the most believable lightsaber fight scene. No turning around like a dancer, fighting back to back and only try to hit the air or blade next to your body or wild swinging like having a real mechanical sword. Only pure "I have the most deadly weapon in hand and how do you want to get me when I get you first" scene ever. You dont need any force while cutting through flesh, just slightly touch something and it will just burn and fall off instantly would be the mindset with this weapon in hand (first hit is almost a win)

I was not the biggest fan of the show so far but holy shit, this episode gave us the best lightsaber action in any live action Star Wars show so far. If they do something great we should be able to give them credit for that instead of having childish bias.

It was a good lightsaber fight. But the reality is, all the other ones since Revenge of the Sith have been pretty bad. Obi-wan show was pretty rough. Vader Dancing with Reva, Obl-wan throwing Rocks. Then you had the Ahsoka battles with very slow movements. The Rey and Kylo fights were not good. Luke didnt even fight Kylo...etc.
Star wars theory, I agreed with you on every episode except this one. This was straight fire and the choreography was lit. It was closer to the old republic video game trailers than anything we’ve had so far. The prequels were great but this episode showed how it can be when you use the force and the lightsaber in unison instead of straight lightsaber or force. I think those livestreams with mauler and that other dude had changed this channel and not for the better. We get a great episode and you’re just nitpicking it. Not a good look tbh

i have no clue why you guys keep holding on to sw so desperately. why bother with mediocre stuff? i completely gave up on sw when the mandalorian came out. i was gripped by the hype but this show was so incredibly boring. cgi luke didnt impress me either. dont you get it guys? as long as you keep coming back disney will give you nothing but forgettable shows and even more forgettable characters. they spat out way to much always sticking to the basically same timeline. they wont create something new or lead us to unexplored timeperiods. GIVE UP

@@catalinpopa8908 One key difference there - the Snoke chamber fight was slow as all get out.
There were openings here, but the movements were fast enough to where it doesn't draw as much attention to them. Plus, one could argue the Jedi were shaking with how aggressively Qimir was coming at them and being overly cautious.
One vs many is never realistic, but if you're gonna do it, this was a very decent attempt. Everything else about the show is utter garbage, though, but at least Disney finally figured out how to do a cool looking fight scene.
Great episode. The dark side has clouded Theory’s judgement. The show has its flaws and its high points. Just enjoy for what it is and don’t think every frame needs criticism 🎉

At any given time those lightsabers went out, they should’ve been using the force in some capacity. Like switching to your sidearm.
That's a really good point, i didn't think about that. One excuse i can think of (at least the first time it happened) is them being so confused and stunned by it that it unbalances them, therefore they don't use the force.
Also, they did not fight against other lightsaber users for a long time, so yeah they maybe train in the academy, but they don't have real fights against other lightsaber users.
So they are also very afraid of him too.
He is switching through many fighting styles, uses a Cortosis glove/helmet to disable their lightsabers, and he gives a damn about rules.
We see that these Jedi are sticking to rules, and so it's very hard for them, to fight something like him.
(That's what i was thinking about all i've seen there.)

But yeah, it's one thing for Padawans to practice duel during peace times compared to fighting someone as aggressive as Qimir. I remember there being a point about Ahsoka's training getting a massive boost due to her often being on battlefields in a war.

I think we've lost him to being pessimistic and negative. Notice has he hasn't posted a breakdown yet just reactions, all he's doing now is trying to drive traffic. Whomever is managing him or his brand is probably encouraging this...or he's become so jaded now that he literally can't help but just fan the flames of pessimism.
There’s well choreographed moments, but overall it’s really rough. The geography and location of characters is all over the place. Not to mention their skills and use of the force fluctuating according to the needs of the plot.

You can't really see the fight because of the way it's shot. If you notice as well there are many opportunities where Jedi could have killed with Sith, but because of the poor choreography the jedi just stand or attack the air. The fight was fast but not well choreographed.

I'm really disappointed in you, Theory. That was a truly great lightsaber fight, probably one of the best we have seen in Star Wars.

I've heard the same things about the throne room fight in TLJ. People see flashy stuff and scream that it's the best thing they've ever seen, despite how poorly choreographed it is.

@@duhotatoday3277 the Helmet and the bracers were made out of a very rare metal called Cortosis, Cortosis can withstand the blow of a lightsaber and briefly short out its blade. It's in Legends and is canon.

My prediction. Trinity is the Sith master. Last episode will be revealed she killed the witches and faked her death. Smilo Ren is her apprentice. Always 2 there are.
I liked the fights in this episode. They were more viceral vs elegance. The Jedi of this era wouldn't know how to deal with someone like this.

The fight scene wasn't prequel level, but it was decent enough. Sure, multiple opponents vs one guy is unrealistic, yet movies still love to do that. I think it was handled well. Qimir was aggressive, quick and swinging in all directions with precision, so it's somewhat believable inexperienced Jedi would be too defensive. His hate boner for the show is so hard that he's even pissing on the choreography even though it's actually really good. Its very kinetic and dynamic and its the most brutal ive seen Star Wars be with the lightsaber fights. Like, come on man just stop watching it

This was the best episode so far mainly because of the fights. The story is losing me more and more with each episode though. I do have to say I think it was really ballsey to kill off main characters like the way they did but unfortunately this show only has 8 episodes and we didn't get enough time to develop those characters before they died so I didn't feel anything for them other than just being shocked with the way they just got rid of them out of no where. The fights are really just amazing in this show like there are a lot of problems to point out but the fights is something people can't really deny is bad unless the fans that don't like the fights prefer the OT style of fighting or are PT stans and the only good fights can only come from Nick Gillard which isn't true. I mainly prefer OT style of lightsaber combat mainly the style and pace of Return of the Jedi lightsaber fighting style but this show doesn't look overly flashy like the prequels with it's lightsaber combat (most of the time) and I love the Kung Fu integration into the fight style. I hope a lot of future Star Wars projects are like the fights in The Acolyte cause I really like this stylistic choice.
I agree with everything you say. Definitely a good episode finally, with some great lightsaber combat, which is probably the best we've seen in Disney Star Wars. And like you, I was impressed that they actually killed off relatively big-characters. It made the action have weight and impact, but yeah.. it's a shame the story isn't better, so the characters deaths were more relevant. Definitely lacked impact. Same with the reveal of the Sith being Qimir. It was too obvious to have any real emotional response to it. Still, it was a good episode, and I think you have to give credit where credit is due, we finally got to see some nice lightsaber duels.
The Acolyte genuinely has good choreograph fight scenes, definitely not Phantom Menace as claimed but still serviceable. It’s just disappointing knowing that it’s apart of a plot and characters nobody really cares for.
Yep I agree. Story can be lame at times but these fights were truly excellent and Killing off most of the characters is pretty balsy and I'm guessing they are all going to die in the end, im saying it now the last scene will be Smilo Ren bowing to his master probably.

I really enjoyed this episode, especially the amazing fight scene. I think it's important to remember that Star Wars is not meant to be perfect, it ain't the Godfather trilogy. It's a sci-fi fantasy and is supposed to be fun and entertaining. It's strange to me that some people nitpick every little detail. Admittedly, I didn't like the first four episodes and I'm not a fan of KK and her woke agenda.

What’s funny is he immediately asks everyone if the fight was better than Phantom Menace, lol. He’s wild for even thinking that. The fights in this show are very good, especially this episode, and I’m just glad that’s something we can all agree with. Also, the fight wasn’t better than Phantom Menace but it was certainly better than the one in Revenge of the Sith where those 2 Jedi just stood there and let themselves get stabbed by Palpatine. That beginning fight in this episode is how they should have handled that.
The choreography was goofy as hell with all of those Jedi vs 1 Sith. I’m like why are the Jedi just twirling their light sabers away from the actual fight and how were the Jedi so uncoordinated it was like 4 on 1?

I may be in the minority on this but I'm not too fond of the Live Action video game lightsaber choreography . It's just seemed so rushed and straight to the shock and awe value. The Phantom Menace choreography was art. This should of had a Metallica soundtrack in the background. Also someone that powerful just casually never gets felt through the force. So much of this story lacks details and doesn't make sense. I can't even tell which Jedi is even the strongest anymore.
Did you not watch the prequel trilogy? The one where the ultimate sith lord hides in plain sight of the jedi? Also the hierarchy is pretty straight forward If you pay attention. Sol is top dog and he answers to the bald green chick. Whatever her name is. So I assume she's the grandmaster

Easily better. The phantom menace seemed too staged. There is an extremely raw feeling when watching this fight. And you keep mentioning how oh they could’ve killed him multiple times but they were spinning their lightsabers. Do you think maybe the Jedi have become too complacent with their galactic dominance that when they actually have a true formidable opponent they look good to a point like they know what they’re doing, but equally as bad because they have barley had to put the skills to use. Also think of it like this, they’re training in a temple to be the good guys and keepers of the peace, meanwhile the sith guy is a trained killer.
I don’t really understand theory’s argument, that they’re twerling the lightsabers around and could’ve killed him at any moment. There’s full of “flaws” in the prequels as well where the opponent could’ve hit the enemy. For example Maul vs Obi wan in the Phantom menace, when obi wan just jumps over maul when he’s dangling beneath him and cuts Maul in half.
You want to hate this show, you don’t give it a chance even though this choreography is the best since episode 3. The series is mid but you hate everything about it even tho the fights are incredible. Being a dick because you can be.

Yeah, retneys Holocron, star wars meg and generation tech sre more nuanced snd appreciative and better tale to these new shows, instead of acting like lan child cause some minor things change and they throw a fit of hate and negativity rather than actually enjoy something that is decent, so far which is due to different directors each episode and it's enjoyable. My 13 year old brother loves acolyte. And star wars is mostly for kids. So that's all that matters. People say it's stupid but will defend lucas equally if not worse dialogue writing, depsite that they would shit on lucas had he done films today too. Or if prequels were coming out today they would be hated same a sacolyte especially if internet, reactors and such were a thing

Im going to be honest. This series already broke canon in episode 5. The writing is atrocious. But I have to give them a point for the light saber fights. Of course, its not even close to the prequels. But it was far more creative than the sequels. It was fast and it had some choreography , the sequels did not have that. I also think it was better than the fights in Ahsoka(except the training between Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka).But besides that, the series Will go on down hill.

Qimir labeling himself as “Sith” adds to the lore-breaking mess, but the fight choreography was quite enjoyable
I also understand that they wanted to make Qimir look more menacing, but writing off Jecki felt unnecessary since almost every other Jedi was killed off. She was also showing dark side tendencies, so her character had potential to be expanded on. At least she went out with a bang
