Let me know your thoughts on the newest episodes of the iCarly Revival! Thank you so much for watching! Have a great weekend!
Loved em
I Don't have paramount+ 😔
This reboot just got renewed for season 2!
I really wish Paramount+ would make a UA-cam channel just to expand the iCarly universe because she's pretty much a UA-camr now. You know, kinda like how the old show has a real website with exclusive content. Would love to see extra content online even though it's 1 minute short.
As for the show itself, I really wish they make the scene transitions more like the old one but with social media interface. Having Bushwell as the transition feels "naked". And the intro to the opening theme song could've been smoother.
It's not a bad show tbh. Some episodes feel a bit off to me, probably because the abrupt outro but episode 7 is definitely the most iCarly episode so far
I wish they would have called this Icarly: After Hours so that they dont have to feel so tied to having a webshow
Seeing Freddie wearing these clothes and carrying a skateboard with him just makes me wait for "how do you do fellow kids?" To be said
I've always found that to be an annoying meme. There's nothing wrong with someone feeling young at heart
@@littenfire3563 The meme makes more fun of older people forcefully trying to fit in with a different generation than that though
I am old enough to remember when those fashion choices were first a thing in the 90s. Even owned stuff like that in high school. Probably should have stayed in that decade. It was a bit over the top though since that would have been 10 years behind the times when the original series started. I mean that was Gen X high school fashion. lol
Freddie was born and raised to wear that role like a skintight suit, and I love it.
@@darknessknows1235 mainly older people who market at 10 till 18 year olds. They never get it right
One thing that felt odd is that Principal Franklin didn’t get an applause when he was introduced. Considering he was prominent in the original show, even to the point of being the first character to be introduced in the original show.
it just felt so weird how there weren’t any applauses
right? when Carly opened the door and I saw him I was expecting the applause but it just never came
He's also like not an obscure actor? Tim Russ was one of the leads in Start Trek Voyager! Applaud the man
Right?!
At least they mentioned Miss Briggs
I really like Harper’s character- I was worried she would either be a stereotype, a fill in for sam- or just have no depth at all but she’s very complex and has vastly different bonds with her peers then past characters- i really like her
she’s a great actor and knows exactly how to play it for this style of sitcom~ i can tell she has a huge range
Idk, to me she does though, and that's kinda why I think Harper is the weakest link of the show. Literally every other line has something to do with her being bisexual or her being black, and very seldomly do those lines hit. It's like they don't know how to give her a personality or a backstory outside of that, or just don't care to.
Hmm, where have I seen this bisexual woman of color schtick before? 🤔
@@chidorisnake22 or maybe that’s the only thing YOU focus on because we literally know tons of things about her, her past, and her future aspirations.
@@chidorisnake22 That could definitely be true, my only exposure to her character is these episode reviews and not the episodes themselves, so i’m only seeing the parts of her that are included in this- so just based on that I haven’t seen a lot of “my whole identity is that i’m a gay minority bc the show needs that for woke points”
@@gwynella1039 As someone that has been following the show avidly since it dropped, it's definitely there, and it's a little concerning to me. I'm not against diversity by any means, but what I don't want is for the character's tokenness to be their whole identity. It would be cool to see them flesh Harper out more and give her more lines that are more indicative of her personality and not just her sexuality or race. Aside from her aspiring to become a fashion designer, what else do we really know about her? The reason why I like characters like Aqualad in Young Justice is because while that is a part of who he is, it doesn't define him. I can't say the same for Harper just yet.
With that being said though, you can really tell that the actress is giving it her all with whatever she's given, so she definitely deserves props for that.
The Carly's birthday episode was the worst so far for me. Like, the guy died, Carly find it out and... The end. It doesn't show us if after this she still believing the curse is something or it's nothing. The cameo was useless...
It was a missed opportunity for me.
I think Carly just accepted the fact that her birthday is cursed proving her right all along. I thought that was what they were trying to convey…
@@sirmel11 that was one of my favorites
@@jxoriginals yeah, but it felt that something was missing, for me.
@@averageyoutubeenjoyer9945 I think it was missing the overall party feel like I’m used to when they do party scenes
My least favorite personally was iHate Carly. Episode 6 was a ok episode. My favorites have been episode 5 and episode 4. I think I also like this past episode 7
I love how Spencer hasnt aged one single day..its just nostalgia at its finest...
Episode 7 was lowkey good. It poked fun at these "girlboss" companies
True and at companies that secretly mine and sell data.
Gatekeep, Gaslight, Girlboss!
I feel like the conclusion to this episode was that girl boss culture is good as long as you're the one doing it
Gatekeep, Gaslight, Girlboss!
I'm really loving Milicent's character here so far. At first, she seemed like she was going to be the bratty child who acts mean to everyone. Now, she's showing signs of a tsundere, in that deep down, she really does care about Freddie and does want to consider him a dad. It's really wholesome. I must say, Freddie and Milicent's arc is probably what will keep me watching for the series.
NAURRRR SHES ANNOYING TO ME 😭
@@reey2778 and that’s okay but give her a chance at least she has time to grow
Good thing they gave her that character development so that we can see now why she is how she is, and that she does love her dad and they establish what she wants from his parenting of her, which is good for people skeptical of her character. I agree that the Tsundere thing would work, especially for a child not quite sure of themselves which is more appropriate as a way to show a balance of both sides to her. Glad they did it.
Totally agree
Freddie is a pushover of a parent
As someone who lives in a major city with WeWork spaces on every corner, I really appreciated the way they portrayed Leap In as a corporate girlboss cult. 100% accurate.
The writer of iNeed Space is former UA-camr Franchesca Ramsey! She is so funny and talented and I'm so happy to see people are loving her episode as much as I did! Her involvement on the show is why I was confident in its quality from the jump!
Spoke to her on Twitter, she’s fantastic!
She was on the Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore while that was still airing too. That's how I found out about her. She's definitely a talented writer, and drove home a really good point about corporate female manipulation. Not a bad episode at all, to say the least.
Huh, who would've thought an Icarly revival of all things would tackle both MLMs and toxic hustle culture masterfully?
I wish they would have called this Icarly: After Hours so that they dont have to feel so tied to having a webshow
honestly that'd be a sick name and it fits how the season is working so much.
It pretty much is.
Fun fact: “duke” also played one of the main characters in Disney’s sunny with a chance. Can’t remember the name of his character however.
Grady
No wonder he looked hella familiar
His name was Grady
@@briannalee1998 thank you!
and I mean who can't remember so random from like 10 fucking years
Wasnt a fan of the birthday episode, but the most recent episode was definitely my favorite so far. Idk if its because it seemed the most like the original show or if it was just generally entertaining, or maybe a bit of both, but i was definitely a fan of the most recent one
I think, like with many shows, it can sometimes take a minute to find their groove.
@@uniraffesaur Yeah I agree
For me was because Argentina is like the improved version of Nevel.
yeah the birthday episode was probably the worst it ended so weirdly and it didn't feel like there was a true storyline or a coherent ending
I’m having a lot of fun with this reboot. I adore Harper and Carly’s friendship a lot and I just really like the whole mature vibe of the show. I’m super excited for s2. I think it’ll be a lot of fun
Some of the acting is corny and some scenes are too predictable. Still, I’ve been impressed with the reboot overall
The acting was really solid in this most recent episode
@@jxoriginals yeah it feels like Mirandas back in the groove as Carly finally
I’ve already jumped out in the first three episodes. I just don’t think the humor is all that great.
@@platonymous yeah same the jokes feel forced at times but that’s just me

Somehow I feel that there should be an episode where Carly's old ways of navigating through social media becomes outdated and her fans just got bored of her stagnant content, then she auditions some fresh and new people with the gang, to help her build her channel but in the end she finds that Milicent and her is the best combo - old + new...then from then onwards we get to watch bits of Milicent and Carly growing iCarly and obviously their all the various plots and character arch!
Sounds adorable
I feel like that also adds to the theory people have of Carly and Freddie being end game, their love lives mirror each other at first, then they get further connected through Millicent, showing a family dynamic through the web show as it's all three of them together. It would be kind of cool if that's what they were going with, but they likely have other things in mind and the Carly Freddie endgame is still up in the air as being an actual slowburn. Shows nowadays tend to try to twist things to be less predictable, for fans sake hopefully this doesn't suffer from that (sometimes predictability is good).
I agree! That would be genius!
Harper in this show is basically the same as Harper from Wizards of Waverly Place... quirky best friend with interesting outfits on the fly
I literally said that to my girlfriend when we were watching yesterday
Just with more melanin 😅
I totally agree with the abrupt endings in the show.. I don’t like it. Like in the original Icarly whenever they had a bigger storyline for a episode they would increase the episode duration to 46 minutes.😕
Or even separate the episodes into multiple parts
The last time I was this early, Principal Franklin's hair was still black.
And he was still principal lol 😂 thanks for watching my friend!
🤣🤣🤣
One thing I noticed so far compared to the original series is the amount of asian characters we have seen so far, even if they played a minor role! It was nice to see them in a funny and cool light. I would have loved that representation on icarly as a child 😊
Well, they are in Seattle...
Something I've noticed is that the show is addressing the most common complaints as it goes on.
Maybe the production knew that they didn't start that strong so they put them in quality order?
The Spencer being down bad part actually made me burst out laughing.
Great commentary Jordan! I agree that iNeed Space is the best of the series so far. Also my major gripe about episode 6 was also address too. Whether it was Carly acknowledging a birthday curse isn’t a thing or Freddie summing up his (oddly too relatable) quarter-life crisis, there should be closure for single show storylines.
Thanks so much! 😄 and yeah I agree, major shift from how episode 7 was handled from the issues episode 6 faced
you forgot the best part about the birthday eposode: Carly's dress has pockets!
I like how the show doesn't have lessons. It feels more like real life. You can do everything right (or wrong) something happens your life is fucked for a bit. The end. That's it, have fun, life sucks.
Edit: episode 7 is the only episode I like Millicent in
Episode 7 is by far my favourite episode. It just really felt like an OG episode of iCarky and I hope there are more episodes like this. Also, I am so fricking happy this series got renewed for a second season half way thru!!!
Yeah truly excited for lots more to come! Thanks for watching! 😄
While watching this episode I’d actually forgotten about the higher rating. So when Harper called Spencer(I think) a dumbass I was genuinely surprised for a few seconds until I remembered.
I’ve loved the show so far but i definitely don’t like how they made it feel like a cable show with cutting off after like 23ish minutes but I’m glad they fixed that with episode 7
That is because Paramount+ Does have commercial breaks just as a regular cable network, in the cheaper 4.99 plan. And well, I guess They didn’t want to make such a risky choice extending the episodes duration to 45 minutes or longer, knowing that the original show was usually 20 to 30 minutes. That would’ve been a more expensive production Choice and I think it would’ve taken longer to release the episodes. Obviously iCarly was just an attempt to draw more subscribers to the service so they would not put much effort on it. It’s still decent and I love it though
@@ricosanchez3432 I know that but they aren’t a normal cable network which means they don’t have to follow the rules of runtime because they don’t have a specific time slot where the whole show has to air they could make it 33 minutes or 27 minutes and be perfectly fine

It’s kind of weird to think about that ICarly, victorious, Sam and cat, Drake and Josh, haunted Hathaways, Henry danger, the Thundermans, danger force, Zoey 101, Game shakers and the iCarly reboot are all in the same universe
Don't forget Haunted Hathaways

I mean as a kid in my 20s, I kind of got the feeling that they’re trying to keep away from the sitcom formula of introducing a new problem/issue and then immediately solving it within 20 minutes. Life doesn’t resolve itself that easily and that quickly; your anxieties and fears persist for a while, and things feel more complex as more and more of these problems layer themselves over one another. There’s no lesson or feel-good moment at the end of the day, because there’s always another day. The show goes on. And that’s alright, but learning to live with that fact is part of not being a kid anymore, and that feels like a natural evolution of this show for me.
Me at the beginning of the series: I don't understand Millicent
Me after ep 7: Millicent I understand 100%
Every Thursday the height of the day is watching the new episode of iCarly, the height of every other Friday is watching these videos
What if I can make it every Friday instead of every other! But seriously thank you so much for watching and supporting the content! :D
This just feels like the first season is creating the world for us again. I think the second season will let them introduce more ideas and stories that run on through episodes. Maybe, even just to show the actors who weren’t on board that the show is good.
Another side note too, the revival has now been renewed for a second season officially! The new iCarly is obviously doing something right wouldn’t you say Jordan?
Yeah! 😄
There's some weird color theory going on where the old show was WAY warmer than these new ones. Every scene in this looks like it was shot in a hospital or corporate office. Kinda weird.
Freddie looks like a fifteen year old with a beard lol
I am actually a really big fan of the abrupt endings in ep 6 and how they add to the humor. Most of the time such as with Freddy, the resolutions are implied. With Harper, we eagerly wait to see if it will result in something in a later episode. With Carly, it subverted expectations and just admitted Carly was right all along which is really funny to me.
it matches the humor I remember the show having and I really liked the episode as a result. I don't think the show needs a moral lesson, being funny is enough sometimes.
It probably doesn't mean much but Sunshine Girls was also what they called the girl scouts in That's So Raven. The uniforms aren't the same but interesting nonetheless.
Love the "three wishes" joke, Jordan. I know you said you don't have any powers to grant wishes, but I hit like, and now wish that you have a wonderful day. Hopefully you can grant that one 😉
Haha on one condition, you have a wonderful day too! 😄 thanks so much for watching!
@@JordanFringe94 If you were able to grant three wishes would you be able to get something in return like wings?
I hate the abrupt endings! It’s still so shocking how different the writing is for this reboot. In the original iCarly the shows would feel so long and be able to tell a whole story in only 30 minutes.
I feel like the show still has potential, but they need better writers. This show already feels like too much character wise, so I’m happy we don’t have sam or gibby as regulars. Maybe they should just make the episodes an hour long and under 10 episodes. More character development and throughly timed scenes where the cast can actually excel
I definitely have enjoyed my time with the revival thus far. There are elements that I honestly like even more than the original. However, I do notice some of the downfalls you see. The most recent episode was definitely the best of them all and more of that quality would make this show awesome.
They're honestly doing really well!
I've been rewatching this simultaneously while rewatching the original and imo it's lacking the charm that made the original special. This revival is okay and completely watchable, but to me it just feels like an average sitcom...still stoked though for everyone whose loving it.
big agree
I know it’s just a show but it’s frustrating when shows use the tarot death card gimmick because the death card is actually one of the best cards in the deck depending how you look at it
The fact that they referenced Miranda's involvement with the Happier music video is too good!
i feel like they're trying to force old characters back into the show, episode 2, Nora's cameo was exciting then at the end it shows if she was removed from the episode almost nothing would change, principal Franklin could be removed and the letter could've just come in the mail, little to nothing changes.
I agree. I thought Nora's cameo was very pointless because she barely impacted the episode, I mean sure it made Spencer lose his vision temporarily but there were many other ways that could have happened.
Yeah, it's fun seeing these old characters again, but if this is how they are in episodes do we really want T-Bo and others back?
The problem with icarly is that sam was the character that contrasted against everyone. She was everyones foil. There is no criminal in the show to crack everyone up.
I think the reboot is just fine without her. The dynamic isn't the same but it's just different. And difference and change isn't always a bad thing. And, in reality, as you grow older you're not always friends with, or do you have the same dynamic with friends you had growing up. I can name at least two individuals who were my closest friends in middle school in high school who I probably only speak to now in Facebook comments. The dynamic I have with my friends that I have now is nothing like those school-age friendships because I... you know... changed and grew up. And it also makes sense that Freddie, after growing older and being a young father, is closer with and can relate more to Spencer who spent most of his 20s raising his sister Carly.
What it sounds like you want is the original show which still exists and you can rewatch it any time.
@@gleegleek4eva you're not a tv show being written and promoted to appeal to an audience though lol. of course your actual personal life wouldn't align with the concept of having a foil and needing certain dynamics to create the best effects for viewers. not everyone has a foil irl because we aren't deliberately crafted characters in a book, play, or movie, but its a logical and reasonable expectation/desire for a highly hyped tv show reboot. we're gonna have expectations because its the sequel to something else that laid a foundation.
Every episode needs a conclusion. I get it. I feel the same. I just want more and i would like them to get rid off the laugh track.
Spencer sacrificed his pantry? You're telling me Carly couldnt have just edited her vids in the studio while Harper had the apartment to herself or vice-versa? My mans sacrificing the one place in the house I would never give up. It's got all the foods!
That fridge they have is a red galanz but they cover up the logo with papers to avoid copyright I guess ?
I'm still waiting for Carly to become a vlogger and be a modern "influencer"
Me, a Voyager fan: Who shuts the door in Tuvok's face?! You get a Vulcan nerve pinch for less!
It's funny that you ended up reviewing the worst AND best episode so far back to back!
The duality 😌
Franchesca Ramsey (Co-Producer on the show, writer for episode 7) is a great Twitter follow and had a really fun live-tweet thread discussing her episode. I agree that episode 7 is the best one so far. ArgenTHina is exactly the right balance of camp/insidiousness that an adult iCarly villain should be
She responded to my tweet and spoke to me about this video! Haha she’s great! 😄
I’ll say I was really happy to see Duke make a cameo. I always enjoyed the actor in Sonny with a Chance and brief parts in the original iCarly. It’s like he never left because the moments and comedy with him were so fun.
I get the Goat thing. I have a fear of goats. Every since kindergarten when the goat bit my glove and I thought it was going to eat me. NEVER again. NEVER trust a goat.
I like how Carly starts off the same age (26) Spencer was when the OG series started!
Iono man the aneurysm joke kinda slaps too hard for me to care about any other thing
Great one 🙌 love being able to stay caught up with the show through these 😎
Really putting into perspective why Freddy has faced multiple failures in his life
My biggest issue is the humor in the original iCarly was literally all “kink” coded and without doing that now they have NO humor for their web show
THIS RIGHT HERE!!!
This is so true.
spot on
I think I understand, but what do you mean by kink coded? I’m a little lost on that
@@key4465 maybe kink to Dan Schneider? He is rumoured to like little girls and feet…and a lot of the humor was very feet oriented 😂
@@SingingAudball Ohhh you know what yeah I understand… Icarly’s humor was very “bizarre” and even though dan is a creep that weird humor gave the show a very memorable whacky vibe. If the old show was like colorful construction paper, the new show is metallic
My biggest complaints are Spencer and Freddie seem to be half baked shadows of their former characters. Barely funny and barely recognizable. The banter between characters isn’t as funny as the original either, like Carly and Harper don’t have as natural chemistry as Harper and Spencer do. I hope Harper and Spencer get more time together because that relationship is more fun to watch. The original show had a more wacky silly attitude and I would have enjoyed an adult version of it, but instead they thought that to make the characters grow up they had to make them boring and write them painfully unoriginal jokes. Come on, how do you make Spencer boring?
The Death tarot card isn’t bad. Most tarot card aren’t what you think on face value. The Death tarot card means “Unlikely that this card actually represents a physical death. Typically it implies an end, possibly of a relationship or interest, and therefore implies an increased sense of self-awareness.”
I really wish that they would of filled the "Sam" gap. She really was the "foil" that created a contrast between each character. It was really disappointing that they ended the original after we waited 5 seasons to build the friendship between Sam and Freddie that was so anticipated. I completely respect and understand Jeannette McCurdy's decision to refrain from acting in the reboot, but, there will still be a small part of me that just wishes that she would come back for even 1 episode. Anyway if you read all of this I hope you have an AMAZING day!!
In the end that lies in whether Jeannette wishes to return to something that hurt her deeply. It would make the show interesting and it would allow an extra layer of depth to make this revival top tier but it's not something the producers can ever do since it's just up to the actress. If anything I'm surprised they'd managed to do so much even without one of the most iconic characters.
@@frisolaxod3835 Absolutely correct.
I noticed the runtime thing with Loki and Wanda Vision, where the length of the episodes is inconsistent, and I really liked that!!
I completely respect jennette and Noah’s decision not to come back, and they have a good and valid reason for it. But why would they make a reboot when half the cast doesn’t wanna come back.
2 people is half the cast? what about the other majority of cast members who DID want the reboot to happen
"Half" lol ok buddy
The Nate sound bite makes me so happy
So once this show ends we better finally get our Spencer spin-off.
I was kinda hyped seeing principal Franklin again
I don't know if you still take show recommendations, but I'd love to see you cover Action League Now! at some point! That was a staple of my childhood that barely gets remembered.
It’s been on my list! Will cover it at some point! 😄
I agree with all of your critiques of the series so far. But at the end of it all, the show is still leagues better than I was expecting. It feels like iCarly without feeling like a kids show.
I wholeheartedly agree with that sentiment 😄
@@JordanFringe94 I wonder if the cable tv runtimes are being pushed by Nickelodeon so if it became successful, which it obviously has, they could run reruns on Nick at Nite or something.
Lol as someone who does tarot, the death card means rebirth, not literal death😂 the tower card is what you should be afraid of
that poggers from spawncast is so nice lol
I agree, I would love to see these as longer episodes. The pacing is so fast and then just ends abruptly. We need more spacing.
Icarly isn't a bad show tbh it's decent
It's okay so far, but what I'm finding the show lacking in is presentation. The original show had an energetic rock soundtrack and unique transition sequences that resembled being on a computer, while the new show has more generic-sounding music, no unique transitions, making the show feel relatively lifeless. I'm also not a fan of them doing hard cuts to black when the old show would slowly fade to black. Either the show’s on a reduced budget compared to the original, or the new showrunners just didn’t bother.
I Agree
yeah that's facts the old show has more pizzazz
While I do miss the original music and transitions, I kind of see why they changed it up. The original show was much more of a kid’s show and the characters were younger, so the energetic rock was like the vibrancy and energy you have as a child. With the revival, the transitions and music are a lot more simpler and relaxed, which fits with what the revival is going for since it is aimed more at adults now and the audience who grew up with the original show as kids are now around the same age as Carly and Freddie (hence the energy is not as high as before). I’m 25, so I’m pretty much around the same age range as Carly and Freddie and fit within the adult audience.
I did think coming in that the transition sequences would have been updated to resembling a smartphone on an Instagram-type app where the scenes could have changed from swiping down a few posts and then “liking” it, which takes us into the next scene similarly to what the original transitions had with the computer and clicking into the next scene. That could have been nice.
@@Lauren_210 you might be on to something with that second paragraph how do we get the directors to see this😂👏🏾
@@Lauren_210 The music thing would make more sense if they didn't use the same theme song from the original.
not that the birthday episode was amazing by any means but i think you’re forgetting the original icarly had a lot of episodic or non-sequential episodes. but i do see your point and hope an upcoming episode has lasting repercussions or growth.
I'm sorry Freddy calling duke dbag. I screamed.
I think episode 7 might be my favorite so far as well. There was a lot going on, and it felt like we had some real character growth. And it definitely has a lot of relevance for today's audiences.
I particularly liked the development of the relationship between Freddie and Millicent. I hope we get to see more of them bonding in the future.

I appreciate that this show ages with its audience and doesn't try to appeal to a new young generation by making the characters we grew up with become side characters as they become parents to new characters that we don't care about and never really could like they did with girl meets world or ravens house. We do have Freddy's daughter, but she's just a part of Freddy's life and he's still the main character. Many revivals miss this concept by trying to appeal to kids just because it used to be a kids show.
Alexavier trying to help Merfin manifest a sentence was the highlight of both episodes for me.
Harper's clueless inspired outfit is so cute!!!!
Love the review and insights, and I always look forward to these videos! Also loved seeing the villain played by Christine Taylor. One of my fave comedic actresses, and funny enough she got her big start as a character on another Nickelodeon series ("Hey Dude.") Around thirty years ago. A favorite sitcom of mine as a kid, just as iCarly would be years later. I feel old! Anyway keep up the good work.
Hey thanks so much! 😄 I appreciate you watching!
Great commentary as usual & I have to agree completely. I wouldn't even have any issues with the filler like episodes if they didn't end so abruptly. Overall I like this reboot, happy it was renewed for a season 2.
Episode 7 is my favorite episode so far, more or less for all the reasons you mentioned. Episode 6 felt a bit like filler to me, but I really liked that Ep7 brought back the aspect of the web show, the channel, and a problem that related to modern day internet culture and business alike. I hope they keep it up.
