Oprah Winfrey, global media leader and philanthropist, spoke to the Class of 2008 at Stanford's 117th Commencement on June 15, 2008. Winfrey drew on experiences from a career that began in 1976 when she co-anchored a television newscast, and she shared three lessons about feelings, failure and finding happiness.

I am a sixty year old U.S.C., U.C.L.A. graduate. I listen to this speech often and I learn something new from one of the most successful black women in history.
I remember from my speech classes before many of you were born, the first part of a speech is to get peoples attention, usually with comedy. It is appropiate to focus on Kirby because she is a 2008 Standford graduate and Oprah godchild. I find what Oprah said relative funny. I mean "sort of."
Who just "sort of" know Oprah

I still dont get some part, but I ll keep watching it. And the part I most like is when she said " The beautiful thing about learning is that nobody cant take that from away you"
I m struggling to study English everyday. I ll not give up when Im learning something, I ll make it mine.

The purpose of a commencemennt speech is to impart knowledge to graduates of one"s personal challenges of becoming sucessful in life. If you listen to Steve Job commencement speech , which I enjoyed, he talks about his life from birtth to present. If you are talking about your successful life, the only pronoun you can use is "I". Be Open To The Lessons
