    I Bought the Haloview RD7 to replace a camera system from Furrion Vision S that had significant drop out issues. Installation was not a problem - powering the camera off the top rear marker light. Swapped out the old mounting brackets for the new ones and ran the transmission cable up to the front of my 26 foot long camper. Mounted the transmitter with liberal amounts of RTV/Silicon.
    Got the monitor hooked up in the cab, powered it up and turned on the marker lights. The camera and monitor paired automatically and provided me a terrific view of my back yard - as expected.
    Finally got to road test it this past weekend on a short camping trip - about 50 miles one way. Camera performed flawlessly the whole way - didn't notice a single drop out and had very little, if any flicker. Decent field of view as well. I can see cars within about 20 feet of my rear bumper and can pick up the entire lane of expressway on either side at about 40 feet back.
    I am VERY satisfied with the performance of this system so far. Big test will be next month with a 1000 mile trip coming up. Looking forward to it.

    Great presentation thank you. For sure side camera's would be my motivation for my blind spots when backing up.

    Nice idea to replace the rear view mirror with the monitor. How hard was it to do that?

    Ok...I know you posted this a year ago. But what the crap did you use to get Furion shroud off on the rear? I have no nutdriver or socket that has the clearance to get a bit

    Great job of explaining. Are you a dealer? What is the difference RD7 and the RD7R? Can you add a fifth camera? AGAIN, Thanx for the demo. -keith

      I’m not a dealer. The difference between the two is the camera style for the back. I’m not sure on the fifth camera but I don’t think so as the monitor doesn’t show options for it.

      @@thompsonrvservice I was wanting to use one to line up the hookup on my fifth wheel. . I think I'll just buy a "cheap hard wire" and keep the monitor in the glove box. After all it's not something you are using the whole time you're on the road. Again, thank you for your FAST response. I live in Dayton Ohio, so my next question is, what part of the country do you do your inspection? Thank you so much, -keith

    Does this one not have the wired transmitter or did you opt to not use it? Read a lot of reviews and like the haloview. But I'm not very fond of drilling holes on top the unit. Not even sure if the transmitter is mandatory or optional

      It does I installed it for the door camera. I replaced the antenna on the monitor with a external antenna on the truck for better reception. I didn’t want to mount it on the roof either.

    Hey there! love the video! I am also going to be installing this setup on my trailer shortly. Question for you, does your monitor model come with the trigger wires for the blinkers and did you consider using them?

    • @thompsonrvservice
      @thompsonrvservice  3 роки тому

      They did come with them but for me wasn’t worth the time to install. I just leave it with the 3 cameras always showing and has worked well.

  • @wallmountworld

    How did you pair the side marker cameras. I cannot get mine to pair. How long did you hold the pair button on the side marker camera? Did you have it mounted before pairing?

    • @thompsonrvservice
      @thompsonrvservice  3 роки тому

      You have to go into the pairing menu on the screen and you have 20 seconds to hit the pairing button on the cameras.

    I’m curious how you routed the transmitter cable harness. I’m assuming you connected one to the camera, then fed the power and transmitter cable through the hole and ran the transmitter cable down the inside back wall and under to the transmitter. Thanks

    • @thompsonrvservice
      @thompsonrvservice  3 роки тому +2

      I actually used the camera that comes with the transmitter over my door and the other for the backup camera. I did this after testing to see if there was a large difference in reception which there wasn’t. The best thing I did was I purchased a remote antenna for the monitor that’s magnetic and sticks to the roof of the truck. That removed most of the lag that my cameras had during my initial testing.

      You have lagg because you used the wrong camera on the back.
      The transmitter is designed to be connected to the rear camera and then mounted on the front top edge of your trailer.
      That is what Shortens the distance between the camera and the monitor.

    • @jamesglenn520
      @jamesglenn520 3 роки тому

      You get lagg while traveling at highway speeds.
      That is the biggest safety issue with the Furion system. That is why this system comes with the transmitter.

    Curious about the antenna on side camera. It goes down instead of up? Doesn’t that seem odd that haloview would do that?

    • @thompsonrvservice
      @thompsonrvservice  3 роки тому

      The camera I put above the door is actually meant for the back camera. The antenna makes for a better video feed.I did it this way so I wouldn’t have to put any large holes in the camper. I also use a external antenna on the truck and that greatly improved the video lag.

    Seems like alot of really confusing personal choices with this installation 😟😲😖
    Upside-down side cameras and the rear camera that hooks to the transmitter to compensate for the trailer length being used for the door instead.
    Then you complain about the rear camera having Lagg. And having to install an additional antenna on your truck trying to remedy the lagg issue.
    I have watched many reviews from HDT full time people that are pulling 40+ foot trailers with a semi tractor that are having Zero Lagg issues 👍
    It's All in the Install 😂🤣🤭

    • @thompsonrvservice
      @thompsonrvservice  3 роки тому

      I originally had the camera with the transmitter on the rear and it didn’t help with the lag and for wiring purposes it was easier to use that camera on the side and get a new antenna in the truck. Replacing the antenna in the truck improved the lag with all of the cameras so it works better overall. The cameras are the way they are because there’s less of a chance of issues with water.

    • @jamesglenn520
      @jamesglenn520 3 роки тому

      @@thompsonrvservice So originally you had the transmitter mounted on the roof up front and still had lagg?

    • @thompsonrvservice
      @thompsonrvservice  3 роки тому

      @@jamesglenn520 yes it wasn’t horrible but more then I wanted and the side cameras would get laggy at random times. So I went to a remote antenna on the truck which was amazing. So it was easier to move the transmitter for the door camera and steal power from the running light so I didn’t have to drill holes.
