Really liking these logging videos! Keep them coming 😎 This is my second year managing my parents 52 acre woodlot in central Maine. Using a 1970 Timberjack 207 that I spent several months rebuilding and getting ready for the woods.
Great video Lou - looks like a good honest days work. At those prices I guess the buyer is making the profit when he ups the price? Your saw worked hard and never missed a beat - same with the skidder. Cheers
Love the video! For those prices would it not be more profitable to sell it as firewood? $200 is decent cash for day, but then time and fuel.. anyways, just a thought, keep up the good work
Hey man pro tip i know were all guilty of it you just got caught on camera lol try to wrap your left thumb around the front handle bar helps alot if you get a kick back. My forestry teacher would whack our hand with a stick if we didnt wrap our thumb lol great video!
@@rollingupmysleeves I’m in Michigan and they did this when replanting any sort of “pine” tree, from what I can tell. I’ve seen it done about 10 years ago.
They aren’t even buying red pine by me this winter. And that’s been the price in previous years. I bought a sawmill n just cut my red pine into boards n sell them. A lot more money in that. But it is my side job not my full time work
Im thinning some of them and found a buyer for log cabin logs - after i looked at the pile of logs the next day I said Id never sell to those crooks....and im going to build some cabins my self as well....more videos!

Thanks! Will do! Stay safe out there!
Looks like a pretty sweet operation. What part of Canada are you cutting in?

Very true they take the lions share for sure....so im not selling to them - Ive found another market.
So how do you deal with the brush?
I just drive over it - and some being left behind is good for forest regen

Great video keep up the good work

Man O Man Louie, I hope you are wearing hearing protections when you are running the Treefarmer. That thing is a screamer.
oh ya lol, no problem!
The trees stand in very straight rows.
Are they planted?
Yeah, this happens far to often.
Yes it's horrible to be honest
Yes in the 60s..I'll make a video on it soon.

The prices we get paid is sad. The hardest work gets the least reward.
Exactly, too bad we can't boycott the mills.

Ya thats the best plan.
Your skidder is similar to mine when it comes to getting in and out, you need to be a gymnastics expert😂
Oh god I know right...I'll be fixing that this spring!
Nice skidder good job
Thanks!
I wouldn’t have cut them for that price unless I wanted thin out the land.
