I so enjoy your Making Home Series. I was wondering if TSG could find someone who needs a room decorated with an emphasis on making it work if they have physical disabilities. This has become an issue for me and I would be so interested in what you can find, that would help, but would still be aesthetically pleasing. Thank you.

You can’t really do that through decor unfortunately. It has to be designed properly beforehand. This is what interior design is. They do interior decoration.

all the pavers you're taking out from the garden beds you could use for your front porch, or donate to the office back yard, and I would transplant that lilac maybe to your front yard or to the office back yard. Don't kill it please.

What you have in the corner courtyard area looks to be a 20 year old lilac bush. They are stunning in the late spring when they bloom and smell AMAZING. Yours is about as big as they get and they can easily be trimmed back smaller to your preference. You do you for your space, just thought you would like to know. 💐

🌸 Whole-heartedly agree... on all of your points 🤗.
😉Personally, I am a reluctant gardener🪴. ✂️Much better at pruning and maintenance than actually growing anything😔. 🌄 Living in a drought prone area with lots of 🪨 rocky dry clay soil, I 🎉celebrate as well as try to preserve those tough 🌱plants🌿 that are determined to thrive with minimal care & water💦 here in greater Los Angeles.
As someone else mentioned, her adding 🌧️ a water catchment system would be a very 🌎 environmentally friendly option. It would solve some of her drainage issues too. Also allow her to use the overflow to💧water her whole garden🌲. With her creative skills 🛠️Kelsey could easily disguise a more boring and utilitarian rain barrel too.

NEVER bake your dirt unless you are 1000% sure it contains ZERO FERTILIZER. You are inhaling toxic fumes by doing this. Once you bring soil home, pour it into a clean, dry airtight container and keep in a shed or on a shelf. Do not reuse soil for indoor plants. If you find that your soil has been or could be contaminated, do as she mentioned in the video and dedicate it to the garden beds.

Hi! So fungus gnats feed on organic matter that is moist, so they can appear in any soil if overwatered , or if the soil is poor in draining. So usually if you mix the soil bag with some extra perlite, orchid bark, and add some worm castings it will help the soil not keep moisture, and gnats will become less of a problem. But its pretty common for having tons of plants, Nd many times come in the soil from the plant store. You can get some mosquito bites and some yellow sticky tape to control adults!

It's good practice to sterilize your "indoor plant" soil too! I've gotten into the habit this year after dealing with repeated fungus gnat infestations :( depending on how it's stored at the store or packaging facility even the best of soils can come pre-laced with eggs that hatch as soon as you start watering your plants.
I prefer the oven method myself since I tend to do medium batches where you put damp soil in baking containers (~4in deep) and bake them at 180-200f until the soil reaches 180f which kills off any eggs or larvae hiding in there. This will also work if you want to utilize some of those opened bags since it'll get rid of any pests.
It will make your oven smell a little earthy but totally worth the hassle to prevent those dumb gnats haha

WISTERIA TIPS: Heya! To get wisteria to bloom prune it back or use a shovel to hack the roots 2ish feet around the base of the plant. If wisteria has too much nitrogen it won't bloom. I live in US zone 9b, cut mine back hard this past winter and it was COVERED all spring! It even bloomed again after a second pruning in early summer! Best of luck

Baseboards are probably there to make sure that you don't get water into your foundation, and they decided to put them all the way around to make it uniform. Railing is probably there for safety reasons make sure you don't create a fall hazard. We have to have hand railings here if there's more than 3 steps to stay up to code. The foam is probably there in your flower bed to stop the water from going into your neighbors yard (I'd HIGHLY suggest leaving it alone, no one puts something like that in unless they were fixing a problem.)

If you mix 1 quart of water with 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper, 1 teaspoon of paprika, and 2 chopped jalapeño peppers. Let the mixture simmer for approximately 30 minutes, remove from the heat, and let cool. Once cool, strain it into a spray bottle and spray the hot pepper spray on the string lights it’ll deter them from chewing on the cords. Downsides you have to spray after it rains but it helped here
