for the wisteria to bloom you need to cut it twice a year, pretty drastically, because otherwise all of the energie goes into the leaves. So cut all the shoots in December/January and then trim again in July/August.
The one out my parent's kitchen window gets trimmed back to the brown wood in the early spring. It bounces back with TONS of blooms. It's also from the 70's and is maybe the only thing holding up the patio fence.
You could also set up the drainage from the roof as water storage to water your indoor plants with. It's almost standard in Germany for people with a garden. We have big barrels that collect the rain water from the roof. Looking forward to the transformation 💛

When she said she’s gonna say goodbye to the lilac I died a bit inside… please don’t kill it! May be move it, but she did nothing wrong she’s green and healthy, she doesn’t deserve to die!! Edit: typo
Right? That is a beautiful, mature lilac and, at the very least, could be given away like the doors and other curbside things. Someone would get so much joy out of it in their yard or garden!
100% agree - hate when people do this, it betrays them to me as not really wanting a garden, just a patio. That's years of growth! Really hope it wasn't just binned, you can always find someone who wants it if you don't - mature trees are so expensive to buy.
my parents use christmas lights as patio lights at my cottage, those LED ones that are kind of shaped like pinecones... yeah the squirrels eat them off all the time, so the lights always go up when we get to the cottage and come down when we leave.

I am so here for Making Home. I have loved every episode and really enjoy being on this journey with you. You have done so much to be proud of. The place looks really great Kelsey.
Hi! So fungus gnats feed on organic matter that is moist, so they can appear in any soil if overwatered , or if the soil is poor in draining. So usually if you mix the soil bag with some extra perlite, orchid bark, and add some worm castings it will help the soil not keep moisture, and gnats will become less of a problem. But its pretty common for having tons of plants, Nd many times come in the soil from the plant store. You can get some mosquito bites and some yellow sticky tape to control adults!
It's good practice to sterilize your "indoor plant" soil too! I've gotten into the habit this year after dealing with repeated fungus gnat infestations :( depending on how it's stored at the store or packaging facility even the best of soils can come pre-laced with eggs that hatch as soon as you start watering your plants. I prefer the oven method myself since I tend to do medium batches where you put damp soil in baking containers (~4in deep) and bake them at 180-200f until the soil reaches 180f which kills off any eggs or larvae hiding in there. This will also work if you want to utilize some of those opened bags since it'll get rid of any pests. It will make your oven smell a little earthy but totally worth the hassle to prevent those dumb gnats haha
Kelsey, one solution for the "driveway" between the houses you can pull out the weeds and put some brown permasand that they sell at homedepot for like $25 a bag. Cannot wait for the REVEAL :) good luck!!! - Your friendly neighbour(mississauga) Diana.
WISTERIA TIPS: Heya! To get wisteria to bloom prune it back or use a shovel to hack the roots 2ish feet around the base of the plant. If wisteria has too much nitrogen it won't bloom. I live in US zone 9b, cut mine back hard this past winter and it was COVERED all spring! It even bloomed again after a second pruning in early summer! Best of luck
Baseboards are probably there to make sure that you don't get water into your foundation, and they decided to put them all the way around to make it uniform. Railing is probably there for safety reasons make sure you don't create a fall hazard. We have to have hand railings here if there's more than 3 steps to stay up to code. The foam is probably there in your flower bed to stop the water from going into your neighbors yard (I'd HIGHLY suggest leaving it alone, no one puts something like that in unless they were fixing a problem.)
Hi Sorry Girls 💛💛 I’ve been a fan since about 2013 😍 you are awesome. Really enjoying the bigger project playlists!! Thank you for all you do. Unfortunately I haven’t learned confidence to do similar things (like I don’t even trust myself to find studs to hang things on the wall correctly 🙄🤦🏼♀️) so I am wondering if you guys can do a ‘back to the basics’ series sometime :) Reno-101!!?? Just an idea for you!
Solution for fungas gnats! Finding them in new bags of soil is common🙃 but if you using it for indoor plants, then spray a neem oil solution in the soil before potting and that gets rid of the eggs already there... worked for me!
Around here we just post our project space to either Varage Sale or FBM and have whoever come take whatever. Your railings, garden (incl the lilac) and lattice would have just walked away and been used for other projects. Wouldn't have made for a great episode maybe but reuse is a fantastic thing! So happy to see you wearing your jeans!! Love them ❤️
I wonder if they get those wood splinters everywhere when doing woodwork. Like i get its nice to look cute, but it's sometimes good to be safe and tie up hair, wear gloves and overalls and stuff? Is it just me that worries ?
LOTS of people worry about the lack of safety. Especially knowing so many young people are learning from them and copying everything they do. Someone will end up injured eventually. Every video where they use power tools unsafely, there are multiple comments and it's been that way for years. They only care about looking cute with hair hanging loose and no safety glasses.
If you mix 1 quart of water with 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper, 1 teaspoon of paprika, and 2 chopped jalapeño peppers. Let the mixture simmer for approximately 30 minutes, remove from the heat, and let cool. Once cool, strain it into a spray bottle and spray the hot pepper spray on the string lights it’ll deter them from chewing on the cords. Downsides you have to spray after it rains but it helped here
Are you REALLY sure you want the porch area to be the tenant's area? Your windows are right there, would it bother you if your tenant and her friends are sitting right in front of your windows? (Privacy and noise level)
🌻 Kelsey's smart and considerate〰️ esp. about her tenant. 🌳It's such a luxury to have a bit of shaded outdoor space. Nice to see a home🏡 fully lived in & loved 💜. Oh wow I LOVE the wooden canopy out the back it’s beautiful! And I know your gonna make it even better Kelsey!
Kelsey, whose entire interior is white, "The windows are too white."
Well alright then.
The inside DESPERATELY needs color!
@@mercurialpierrot7073 It does have color remember the brown bathroom
Hey the brown bathroom is ICONIC
Also "Ew. Garage is brown"... paints bathroom brown. Still salty about that toilet.

When she said she’s gonna say goodbye to the lilac I died a bit inside… please don’t kill it! May be move it, but she did nothing wrong she’s green and healthy, she doesn’t deserve to die!!
Edit: typo
At least my three Arctic hardy lilacs are doing nicely. RIP backyard lilac.😢
Right? That is a beautiful, mature lilac and, at the very least, could be given away like the doors and other curbside things. Someone would get so much joy out of it in their yard or garden!
Lol.
Right? It was so healthy! I sincerely hope she transplanted and didn't just rip it out! 😢
I was laughing so hard when you showed the clip of the decking removed. I remember in my old house, we had to replace the rotten decking and before adding new, we laid down two Halloween skeletons. I’d love to see the faces of those that discover them. 😂😂😂
HAHA I LOVE THIS

How cool is that! Great idea. We wrote on the wall of the bathroom before we put up tile backer, but who or when will that ever show up...
I felt personally attacked when Kelsey reminded us that the 2000s were 20 years go
Lol. I feel your pain.
Oh god same. She said it was 20 years old, and Im thinking oh, when I was born... then she said early 2000s and I nearly cried. I forgot I just turned 30 smh.

Never clicked on a video so fast in my life, love you guys!!!
omg give Rachel her own segments I love her
I didn't realize the back yard had so many different areas to it and I am also not a fan of that weird cream color all over the back yard. So glad she's going to change it.
So excited to see your back yard makeover, I always get so excited when I see you doing these makeovers. This space is going to be amazing, I am currently working on my backyard and trying to make it a fun space to hang out in, and your channel always gives me so much inspiration and DIY vibes. Thanks Kelsey and I am looking forward to your next video and seeing how things are moving along. Sending love and hugs, bye for now.
The recent videos are sooooooo beautiful. I feel like I'm watching HGTV, only better.
I feel I wanna see more of Rachel, feels like she's super fun but holding back
She knows it's not smart to outshine Kelsey.

But... Cottage-core is making a comeback... please don't cut the overhang plant thingy
🏵️Tiago Alfonso: Yes, the pergola is quite striking, esp. as a structure for the wisteria vines🌿. 🤩It will look so pretty once the flowers bloom. I'm happy she's keeping it...
😉 On trend or not, don't think charming Cottagecore will ever be her aesthetic. Both she and Becky are more modern minded〰️favor vintage in terms of mid-century mod & also textural boho chic flair. Take care!

how often do they do stuff that they don't at least think is currently on trend though? This is one of the reasons that although I like their DIY, I find them VERY hard to relate to.
I was just glad she said "cottagecore." She used to always say "that's Grandma," in a disgusted tone, which always got me wondering what she had against Grandma.
@@spiceandmice9135 🌷Well, TSG definitely each have their own distinct way of interpreting their equally popular boho/mod design schemes. Ppl approach them for DIY, design advice, & makeovers on this channel chiefly bcos they like that vibe.
🍥The ultra girly-girl♀️ side of me will likely always 💕 swoon 💕 @ the 👀sight of shabby chic, chippy paint & Cottagecore.

She'll have to prone the wisteria for it to bloom, but she already said in the video that she was keeping it.
I am always so impressed by the work that these ladies do! It makes me feel like I am capable of taking on more of my own home projects!
This is the energy I needed to continue my backyard 😭 I'm so excited to follow along!

You can get some mosquito bites and some yellow sticky tape to control adults!
man, I thought I was okay w just making over the inside of my house and leaving the outside, but now I'm feeling The Itch...
If I were you, I’d put pegboard in your garage. Like the old TSG backdrop. It would be super functional and adaptable
EpicGardening is very knowledgeable of indoor and outdoor plants. Your backyard space is right up his alley!!👍
I LOVE the pergola in the back😩 literally my dream patio
these types of series make me so happy. I can’t imagine the amount of work that goes into making them. thank you 🤎
Kelsey, one solution for the "driveway" between the houses you can pull out the weeds and put some brown permasand that they sell at homedepot for like $25 a bag.
When Kelsey tried to skate and Rachael looked deeply concerned 😂😂😂
Baseboards are probably there to make sure that you don't get water into your foundation, and they decided to put them all the way around to make it uniform. Railing is probably there for safety reasons make sure you don't create a fall hazard. We have to have hand railings here if there's more than 3 steps to stay up to code. The foam is probably there in your flower bed to stop the water from going into your neighbors yard (I'd HIGHLY suggest leaving it alone, no one puts something like that in unless they were fixing a problem.)
YESSS IM BEYOND EXCITED!! LETS GOOOOOOOO
This is hands down my favorite series on UA-cam!! I always get so inspired & I LOVE every room & space you've renovated. Your home is perfection😘❤
I can't wait to see this space completed
Garden Answer is my fav gardening channel!
Haven't watched TSG in a while, but I'm loving these silky smooth B-rolls!
I’m glad you saved the hostas, they’re one of my favourite plants, and they fill spaces out so nicely!
I love the room makeovers, and I am really enjoying the outside makeovers.

This whole channel gets me so excited for day I finally get a house house after renting
Solution for fungas gnats! Finding them in new bags of soil is common🙃 but if you using it for indoor plants, then spray a neem oil solution in the soil before potting and that gets rid of the eggs already there... worked for me!
just started the Episode, but this project feels almost as big as doing the inside of the house, no??? but I'm so excited for this!,
Around here we just post our project space to either Varage Sale or FBM and have whoever come take whatever.
Garden Answer is a good recommendation. I love her.
Anyone else having issues clicking on the link?

If you mix 1 quart of water with 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper, 1 teaspoon of paprika, and 2 chopped jalapeño peppers. Let the mixture simmer for approximately 30 minutes, remove from the heat, and let cool. Once cool, strain it into a spray bottle and spray the hot pepper spray on the string lights it’ll deter them from chewing on the cords. Downsides you have to spray after it rains but it helped here
Love this 😍😍 Keep it up Kelsey and Becky and The Sorry Girls team ❤
The reno is amazing but the video vibes, I am living for them🥰
Are you REALLY sure you want the porch area to be the tenant's area?
Your windows are right there, would it bother you if your tenant and her friends are sitting right in front of your windows? (Privacy and noise level)
🌻 Kelsey's smart and considerate〰️ esp. about her tenant.
🌳It's such a luxury to have a bit of shaded outdoor space. Nice to see a home🏡 fully lived in & loved 💜. Plus, her having activity in front will deter break-ins & other 👥mischief makers from disturbing the property too.
😉Besides, bet she picked an equally courteous renter who's not going to have regular 🥂 riotous🍾 gatherings on the porch.

I'm more concerned that her tenant won't feel comfortable hanging out there because it's right in front of the landlord than the other way around

You can get fungus gnats from brand new bags of soil. Don't waste that soil.
As a preventative, you can pour some boiling water into it, and then bake the soil (google how to do this).
This has brought joy and meaning back to my Tuesdays! Excited for this new series!
