@@veganpeace7890 yeah, I’d love for him and Joseph to get picked up by Netflix to do a Siskel & Ebert style show because i think they deserve the money and attention
Damn *HOW* is it possible that this channel doesnt have a million subs yet??? People are missing out. I love the great vibes and impeccable manners from Nick and Joseph, and the very informative cinematic bougie-ness of the reviews. The occasional zooms for dramatic effect are appreciated. 5/5 stars, highly recommend. I subscribed on all of my accounts.
Two of my favorite actresses with a brilliant director at the helm. I'm still waiting on the day when Cate Blanchett is thrown into the mix with the both of them. Thanks for the review as always.
I just lost my mother this year. She had terminal cancer and after a transplant couldn’t save her we faced the inevitable and I lived with her and my Dad for 6 months until she ultimately stopped all treatments and entered hospice care. She planned all aspects of her funeral down to the scriptures and songs and I never ever have seen such courage and bravery in my life. This one sounds to close to home to watch for now especially since my Mom resembles Tilda Swinton after shaving her head and becoming frail and thin 💔😢 I appreciate the review however and these are true life experiences so it’s nice to see them explored on film. Thanks Nick and Joseph your reviews have been cathartic for me throughout this year. ❤
I think the biggest issue with the script is not so much that doesn’t seem real, but moreso that it sounds like a translation. There’s a seamlessness that Almodovar has in Spanish that doesn’t come through in English (and I’ve had similar issues with his English language short films). The elements are all there, I just wish it was a Spanish language film because I think it would have been more impactful. And when Tilda showed up as her own daughter…I did cackle in the theater.
Truly Almodóvar, that's what this movie is. It was released here ,in Spain , a couple of months ago, I went to the theater, and I was not really impressed, it was ok, but nothing extraordinary. Your review was spot on, guys, thank you for another detailed review. BTW, the actress playing young T. Swindon, is Esther Rose McGregor, Ewan McGregor's daughter.
In a theme heavy on death and trying to go with dignity, this woman roped in a longtime friend to witness her passing, so perhaps sharing that final memory is what matters most above all else...nothing else matters - "Life is ours, we live it our way"☺Metallica😅
Tediously slow movie. Pointless scenes after pointless scenes that feels like fillers and go nowhere. Dialogue seems forced and clunky, so much so that it makes it seem like bad acting. My bf fell asleep during this movie and the lady beside me. Don't waste ur time on this people.
I’m a fairly well versed on Almodovar films. Looking forward to this his first English language film. Almodovarcan be an acquired taste so not everyone quite gets it.
I enjoyed your discussion. I think it revealed that there is plenty going on in this film. The following is not a criticism of your video. I think people are seeming to hold it against this movie that it invents a lot of specific details about the identities of its characters (John Tuturro still might want to have sex with Julianne Moore (!) or his liberal values and climate opinions can cause flair ups in his personal life, or, the particularity of the cop’s demeanor, etc.) Besides this, there is the looking askance at the way the story unfolds, almost on a beat by beat level (the women talked about this rather than that). Like, “It’s all ‘off’. No, it’s just a movie that is particular about its details. It might convey them in a way you don’t like through exposition, but that shouldn’t be such a dealbreaker.
Nick's brain is a wealth of information. I've been watching you guys for at least two years and my mind is constantly blown!

They'd both do great on TCM, especially when they do their film noir nights.
@@corriemayo2715 That would be incredible!!!!!
SAME!! Like HOW does he remember all these cinematic facts!? Extremely impressive ❤

I love Joseph.... "I didn't like this, that, this and that.....but it was still very good 3.5." :)

Wait a minute! They de-age Tilda to play her own daughter? But get another actress to play her younger self??? The fock, Hollywood?
@AmarisFrede Not Hollywood, it is Almodóvar.
@Fish Jelly Film Reviews wow the introductions are getting more dramatic. I love it!!! 😂😂😂😂 Bravi Amicis!!!

I thought Young Tilda was played by Ewan MacGregor’s daughter who’s also in Babygirl?
It's rude to die in someone's else's place
