bought my '96 d21 about a month ago and absolutely love her to death, totally agree with your assessments! so far I've only had to replace a couple parts and they were super cheap and easy to install. Great car all around.

If you’re going to do the hanger re-drill just measure 2 inches straight up from the centre of the existing bolt. By doing so your rear wheels will stay centred in the wheel well. I also have a channel and work on my hardbody, randomly came across your videos, just wanted to say that I think it’s great you live in an nice neighbourhood and drive this truck. It’s like a giant middle finger with the patina and rust haha. Anyways, good stuff, keep it up!

a couple things and this isnt meant to be a dick just some constructive criticism. first off no way your getting 30-35mpg my 91 ext cab with ony 19k on the engine and kept tuned maybe gets 21-23 maybe. also other then the engine it is in no way a 240sx leaf spring vs independent torsion bar vs mcphearson struts. with that said i do enjoy the videos still waiting for that re drill one haha

I drove one of these today and wanted to see if anyone made videos on it and found this.
I had to move some stuff quickly and a friend owned it.
One big thing I think noting is that this is ECONOMY for 1990. Stepping into this thing coming from even say, a 1997 Maxima, its a BIG difference.
This thing was not made with comfort or modern amenities in mind AT ALL.
I used to own a 1991 3000GT and that thing was still WAY better than this as far as livability goes.
Its not all that comfortable, not terrible, but not comfortable IMO. Not even really a place to left your leg if you rest it on the right like me.
Obviously its going to smell (or at-least mine did, exhaust), and be very utilitarian.
Its also slow, and lowkey kind of unsafe, I couldn't imagine driving this thing on the highway.
I wouldn't buy this as my first vehicle PERSONALLY, but that's just me.
I would buy this as a backup/weekend hauler/I guess fun toy.
Or if you really needed something reliable in a pinch and don't mind it for what it is.
In my opinion, this is like bare bare minimum of what you need to drive today, and I say that with many caveats in mind.
With that being said though, its not all negative. First off, I kind of thought it was cool. Driving this little thing in stick, it has some personality and def put these trucks on my radar.
The one I drove had 277K and counting. The owner drives it ALLOT. He puts probably 2K-3K miles a month on this little thing, highway driving across several states.
So I mean, me personally, I couldn't drive this thing for a long period, but this guy can do 12+ hours in it. Just different strokes. Its a little too basic for me.
I think you really have to humble yourself or know what you're getting into.
The guy got it for $800 though. You can't beat that.
