Why? I don't have any sympathy for the British royals, but it's not that they invented slavery... Slavery has existed on all continents (also long before colonization started), and while it's been abolished in the West over 150 years ago, it still continues to exist in some parts of the world (for instance in India, but also in Africa)... So I think there's other occasions where it might be even more fit to play this song really loud! 👍
No that's not the explanation of that. In Africa it was not practice to brutalized others as in the case of the west. We Africans have a monarch system of governanc. @@fredvan6043

God bless my Dad who introduced me to Burning Spear and other roots reggae greats like The Abyssinians, The Gladiators & Ras Michael. Surely the most uplifting and spiritual music known to mankind, praise be to God for reggae music!
most young people don't even know this music exists, and what it meant to so many people. I grew up in Ontario, and listened to this all in the 70's and 80s. I still listen to it when I need uplifting.
Burning Spear performing in NYC in the 90s was my very first concert, and he blew me away. Speaking truth and history with the dope beats is what music is all about.
Burning Spear The G.OA.T. of Live Reggae Trance Music I still hear his vocals, words, the music feel the rhythms & beats in my body/mind even after the music is gone.

Spear is and will always be the one and only roots reggae artist who comes close to Bob Marley, in terms of consistent quality of his musical output. Bless him!
@@christomaya5516 "Conscious" music does not necessarily mean "better" music. Anyway, very much of Marley's music was - though being commercially successful (with is not the same as "commercial", by the way) - also about spiritual and political consciousness, but it was never limited to JUST that indeed, which made him a more versatile songwriter, taking on a much broader variety of themes, moods and styles. I think it's ridiculous to state one is "better" than the other, but fact is that Marley had a much wider appeal and, more than any other Jamaican artist, was able to blend his reggae into the pop mainstream without losing its roots, its originality or its credibility (while on the other hand, in the late 1980's Spear also made a few 'slicker' sounding albums too...). Whatever: I'm just a big fan of both! 😃
