The little girl in this is being raw and unforgiving about it. She's helping to communicate a message about the complete deconstruction of patriarchal social constructions on what it means to be a woman in the first world society. She does this without needing to be sexualized, silly, or using some other method of "softening the blow." She just says what is true to her.
American pop stars are still too caught inside of a system of corporate greed and convolution of the message. Miley Cyrus acted out, but only to draw attention to herself without really pushing any sort of agenda. She just acted crazy in a sexualized way, knowing full well that American culture would quickly grow desensitized and not really care, but she left whatever message she could have pushed about women's rights in the dust.
I suppose the primary reason that the girl is more of a badass is because the members of Pussy Riot have actually been arrested and gone through crap in order to maintain their right to freedom of expression. Where is in the US, all you need is sexuality and enough $$ to pay a song writer and publicist to get you out there. It's having something to say vs. talking.

They're in a tight spot (spot again, sorry) and like many other groups or personalities, like a man I also greatly admire, Roberto Saviano, it is not always easy to fully express yourself, mainly due to the imminent danger on your physical integrity and legal consequences, no matter how illegal might those be.
In Portugal, we had a singer, who unfortunately is no longer among us, he was my father's favourite, who sang during our fascist times, and he sang using analogies and popular culture to create songs that appeared completely harmless but packed a powerful anti-fascist political punch.
That said, I think I understand why the Pussy Riot are a completely different style, in your face, no bullshit, brutal political rap that is perfectly understandable when you regard that they're a product of their own upbringing in a certain social-political environment. And perhaps the reason their English songs are so simple is perhaps due to their mother tongue, Russian. I have 3 mother tongues, French, German and Portuguese although my German nowadays pretty much sucks. And I understand that in your own native language you can develop a lot of subtleties, undertones and between the lines stuff that in English, a language they don't completely dominate, is really harder to achieve.
I see where you are coming from, its nice when people put effort into a response. I think maybe using their mother tongue would be better to free their mother land. Help the Russian woman facing oppression (from America) with Russian music.
