Thanks for this great review Ben, I was really thinking about buying it, but one thing I thought about is how the drip tray is on top of the scale. Overtime, scales will lose calibration, and if something is on top of the scale, this will affect the calibration overtime as well. really not sure if they’ve thought about that, but the fact that this machine that is costing me nearly 1 grand Canadian is only one year warranty is a bit concerning
Hope it's helpful! Maybe you can start with a cheaper manual pour over to test out the waters, then if you love it you can revisit automatic down the road
I've had mine for less than a week now. My biggest issue with it is with the water. Both the heating and pouring of. My spout leaks on average 3ml of water every time it stops pouring. That's not a huge deal if I was doing a single pour... but seems like most of the recipes for the xpods are 4-5 pours. That translates to 12-15ml too much. That makes a 1:16 into a 1:17, etc, etc. Effectively ruins the recipe that would have to be copied and modified in the app to account for it. Not so automatic anymore. The temperature at the spout is difficult to measure, but at 95C, it measures between 82 - 87C less than a cm from the spout, and is inconsistent when jamming a temperature probe to the opening of the spout itself.
I've been testing coffee machines and coffee brews for a while and I realized that my biggest mistake was to believe those reviews of "the best". Turns out I like my coffee a lot different than what most high rated options. I ended up spending a lot of money to find out I don't like Robusta and dark roasted coffee.
Had mine for a week and I am in love with the xBloom Studio. I am fussy about my pour over and this does everything I could ever want.

You can recalibrate the scale with a 100g weight.
Great review, Ben!
Hey, thank you so much, Reese! That means a lot coming from you
Nice MediaTek swag!
You have a good eye! 😉
Thanks for doing this! I'm a huge espresso person. But would love to get into pour overs. But I think I will take the cheaper route for now!

Wow, thanks for sharing those details
Is it possible to use this machine completely without the app except firmware updates? I don't really like to use my phone to make myself a coffee.

Coffee taste is definitely a preference for each person. Gotta find that brew and coffee roast type and go down that path
The pixel like display is very minimal.
awesome review
thanks, kris!

It's the best!
It's so delicious! I want another cup now ☕
The filters aren't proprietary or anything I don't believe. They should just be standard 155 filters. The kalita 155 filters I got for it work fine.
Sweet, thanks for the tip!
